    Nice, I like when people take it upon themselves to solve a problem that dealerships charge extra for. I mean it should be a quick upgrade but for over 200 bucks! I got my car without a backup camera, navigation system etc So I could do it all myself. Sure enough a couple of months later I have my cars system just like I want it. With a backup camera, Garmin navigation, apple carplay/ android auto, and most importantly with a custom sound system in it. I like doing stuff to my own car, save a little money and I just love modifying my cars that's all. Great video Mike, I like that you can give people a cheaper solution to that issue. Also I would recommend going back and putting black tape and zip ties for the extra cable, just so there's no cables moving around.

      Thank man.. car interior stuff can be so easy if you take your time. I love modifying where I can. My buddy Timmy is a mechanic so any more advanced he usually wants to do it.
      Great idea on the tape and ties.. I will go back and do that.. thanks!!

    At dealership today. It amazed me they had NO clue and acted like they have never heard of these not working or that this is even a HTING. Instantly realized I will never go there again and will drive extra 10 minutes to go to other dealership for things now like tire rotations and oil, etc.

    What’s the module called? Can you put a link for it in the comments?

    2017 Silverado. Opened the module, removed the magnet. Now both our Galaxy S10 and Apple iPhone 10 both charge.

      @xbreedfoxbody7160 Před 3 lety

      You opened the module and removed a magnet and works on a S10 now? How hard was it to open up the module? Also is the magnet right on top and just pull it out? I was about to spend the $120 for the kit but would be awesome not to.

    • @gs3504
      @gs3504 Před 3 lety

      @@xbreedfoxbody7160 The hardest part is taking the bottom shell off the console. Removing the module is 4 screws and one plug. I think the module has 5 to open it. Open it slowly, take out the magnet. BTW, the magnet is quite strong. Good Luck!

      Thanks, if I'm gonna buy a new module anyway, mise well give this a try first. If I ruin it I'll just buy the kit. Thanks. Does the magnet have any wires or anything going to it? Or just the coil does.

      @gs3504 Před 3 lety

      @@xbreedfoxbody7160 You shouldn't run anything, no wires on the magnet... I watched a few videos showing how to open the module before I did mine. It was just a heads up!

    In your search for the charging unit did you ever come across a tray that would fit the iPhone pro max? Mine sits at an angle, even with the case and will not charge.

    Their site has a pad upgrade option: GM Smartphone Charger Armrest Powermat Liner
    $49.95 - SKU: G-PAD-TK. Have you looked into this? Is this a larger pad to fit larger phones in? I’ll send them an email, but was just curious if you knew.
