Here's a bit different video than usual, as there is no music in it :)
Please let us know what you think about this format and whether you'd like to see more videos without music or if ones with it are better.

How to blacken steel (hot oxide):
A mixture of caustic soda (700g), potasium saltpeter (250g) and water (1,2 l)
The temperature of the solution should be kept between 120 - 140 C.
I keep the knife inside for about 30 minutes to get consistent black colour, you can manipulate the time to achieve different results, shorter period should give you dark brown or purple - ish colour.
Be careful - this mixture is highly corrosive!
Heat treatment:
-Austenizing temperature: 830 C
-Tempering: 180 C
Specs:
Rock
Steel: 80CrV2 4mm
Length: 245 mm
Blade width: 35 mm
Blade length: 120 mm
Handle: Amazaque, brass pins
Weight: 210 g

What do you think about not having any music in the video? :)
ahah more enjoyable ;)
I liked the music you used to do that sounded like quest music from an RPG 😁
That being said, half the time I'm "working" when I watch your stuff (great knives btw, I really like your style) so it's on mute anyway.
Go with whatever's least hassle!
Much better without music. ;)
In a way we hear the iron music😊
Enjoyed it
Oh that's realll nice! Very clean work sir!
Thank you!
Honestly, I liked the music. It wasn't overbearing or too loud. I really appreciate your craftsmanship. Very nice work!
Thank you
To this day this blade design is my personal favorite. Beauty in simplicity
Es macht wahnsinnig viel Spass deine Arbeit anzuschauen.
Really nice!! Thanks for your time !! I learned much !!!
Largest bottle of dykem I've ever seen! I that was a great build, great pattern on the handle loved it
Thank you
That's a beautiful knife - love everything about it.
Thanks
Awesome build as usual! Never thought about using the rock pattern with wood, but I like it.
Thanks, well well this was sort of random idea, but I'm glad it worked :)
Great video mate. That people who disliked this video must not have an understanding of how much work is involved to make a wood quality knife.
Thank you, well, yes, you gotta put in the work to see good results :)
That handle is stunning. Great work.
Thank you
Jak zwykle Cudo. Ostatnio patrzyłem na nowości w sklepie i zastanawiałem się kiedy kolejny film. Zdrówka w ciężkich czasach i pozdrówki. 😁👍
Dzięki, wzajemnie :) Filmy z reguły wypuszczamy w ostatnią niedzielę miesiąca
Great looking blade, that bluing with the way you did the handle really works well together I think.
Thank you
I'm gonna buy one of your knives. In the coming weeks just haven't decided what model...all are so cool
A magnificent knife. All the beauty of the work of a craftsman and an artist. Congratulations
Thank you :)
Incredible knife! Just awesome
Thanks
Atölye ve ekipman olunca çok kolay ! Emeğinize sağlık ! :)

Hola Saludos desde España magnífico trabajo me encanta. Serias tan amable de decir que tipo dd aceite usas para proteger tus hojas
Nice product, Nice machines, a waterjet! And then... The oldest jigsaw i have ever seen to cut The handlescales😂
Haha, yeah, we should probably get a new one :) It's been with us from a very start
Not only did he make a beautiful knife but he made unintentional asmr
Thanks!
a nice knife
Thanks
Excellent knife, very nice shape. Why did the hardened first and then the bezel?
Another beautiful knife, I love your style.
Can you tell me what product you use to blacken the edge at the end please?
Just an ordinary cold bluing product
Much prefer no music - the equipment makes its own music 😀
Thanks for your feedback ;)
Cracks me up. With all that technology you still use a jigsaw. Knice work.
Yeah, I think we should do something about that :D
Super Knife dy Job is Fantasyc and dy Video is super 👍👍👍
Thanks
Awesome knives!!! Love watching and learning. What is the black tar looking paste that you apply (in other videos) to protect the polished blade before heat treat?
It's an anti decarb paste
👍
Nice
Thanks
That’s a nice one in fact all your knives are like works of art I’d like to see you start making sheaths for your knives and maybe attaching a price tag on them BTW what kind of steel do you use in your knives
Thank you, we hav an option to make a sheath for each knife that we sell, we're planning on recording a video about it too :) All prices of currently available knives are listed on our website www.barbershop-customs.com
We mainly use 80CrV2, D2, Elmax and M390
His knives are so nice looking I'd be afraid to use it
Try either a jump knife or nessmuk, I'd love to see how you guys would approach the design
Thank you, nessmuk is in plans :)
I'm glad it is, can't wait to see
I find people on my channel prefer no music. However, that is not my personal preference.
Thanks for the feedback
Real nice
Do you ever do file patterns on the tang?
We sometimes did in the past, but it's not really our style :)
I’m confused.. why did you heat treat it before doing any grinding to get the bevel? Wouldn’t the material removal be much easier prior to heat treatment?
ROCK PATTERN HANDLE w tytule:
Ja: O_O
Wyświetleńa : STONKS 📈
Ciao complimenti che legno hai usato per il manico?
Is it common to do the stock removal post tempering? I thought most stock got removed prior to temper/heat treat?
Can be done either way and each has its own advantages and disadvantages:
Doing it pre-hardening is easier on your belts and you don't have to be afraid of ruining your knife's temper, but the blade is more likely to warp in heat-treat
Doing it after is much harder on your belts and you risk overheating especially with dry grinders but it'll stay straight more easily.
I see that the enlay in the mosaic pin is your stamp. How did you do that?
We had them made on an EDM
Hi! What did you smear the blade with before hardening?
Anti decarb paste
My son (21 months) and I will sometimes watch your videos just to relax. Great work as always! Now I just need to actually get around to buying one of your knives.
I'm really glad about it! :)
What is in the glass jar? You applied it to the blade and handle. I was guessing some sort of oil to protect/seal, but I it looks like honey that's been heated up. Any info will help.
It's a linen oil
The custom pin you use would look better at the rear position not central…
Can your blackening solution be stored between multiple uses? If yes, what type of container...plastic, steel, glass?
Yes, it can be stored, we store it in the same pot that we heat it in, so I didn't really try any other ways to store it
@@BarbershopCustoms Thanks, that won't really work for me but I'll figure someone out. They both come in plastic bottles, so I will probably start there.
Great work.. 👍👍👍👍👍 i like it... sorry, can you tell me, what do you use to make knife black colour??
It's in the description ;)
@@BarbershopCustoms thank you wery much 👍👍👍👍👍
ever thought about grinding before heat treating?
We did, it's counterproductive and more risky. But everyone has their own way :)
😍😍🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
1:10 What is this black material ?
Był byś w stanie zrobić taki nóż jak Backo (czy jakoś tak XD) w którym głównia wygląda jak wykonana z kamienia ? 😁
Możesz doprecyzować, bo nie za bardzo rozumiem? :)

Really nice work as always ! I also have a question : does your blackening mixture works with XC75 steel ? Thx ! Cheers from France ;)
I think so
i am 1st .
Great video except the unsteady camera, it gives me headache😁
Thanks
Is this model still available
Usually the knives from the videos are unique pieces :)
@@BarbershopCustoms I 5hought I saw it on your retail site but not ATM..so was wondering
Угол заточки 80° что ли?

Didn’t really make a difference
Nice work
Thank you
Do a Bowie…. A proper Bowie.. none of that full tang nonsense
Love your knives and videos but I did find the music annoying. I don’t like music over any video like this, I just want to see what you’re doing without being subjected to shit music. This video is much better.
