I love the way that it turned out but I won't lie, when you pulled it out in the rough resin it honestly looked like granola bars. Still fantastic looking outcome, nicely done!
It looks incredible, if it was also durable I'd love a knife with such a handle. I'm gonna try doing something like that with fresh herbs

I am so confused, did you use tea to make a knife handle? It looks great! Oh, it is a beverage, I never thought a beverage could be considered utilitarian. I wonder what would be interesting to make next...arabica coffee beans, maybe grounded with some roasted while others green? I genuinely wonder if that would look good.
Yup, we've use yerba mate leaves and we dipped them in epoxy :)
I think coffee beans are pretty common on a handle and they don't look that great, but anyway thanks for the suggestion :)

What an awesome looking knife. But why put all the specs down in the metric system? I would also like to know what the kind of material is used on the blade steel.
Well, metric system is what we use here in Europe :)

Never heard of yerba, but the knife is amazing. Will the handle be durable for normal camp use or is it a show piece?
It's yerba mate - leaves used to make a tea-like drink ;)
It's dipped in epoxy, so it's as durable as micarta ;)
Good build, the scale were very interesting looking. Does putting it in the vacuum remove all the air from the resin before it sets?
It's gonna depend on resin but it generally doesn't because bubbles are also created in the chemical processes that cause curing, however it does pretty much guarantee a bubble-free end product. At least that's what I've been told by the local resin guru lol

Okay this seems like a total noob question but what is the reason for sealing the blade inside a foil pouch before heat treatment? Beautiful work, I’ve really gotten hooked on your channel.
To prevent the steel from decarb :)
What is decarb?
@Trey Hedgepeth , I believe it is a reduction in the percentage of carbon in the steel that can result from reaction with oxygen at heat treat temperatures. These ratios are particularly important in specialty steels. However, don’t think the sealing technique will work for us mere mortals who use gas fired forges. I’m relatively inexperienced in this area so would welcome a more knowledgeable explanation.
