This time we have come up with a bit different approach to handle making - we have made a 3d prototype and then we have used it to make a silicone form for epoxy. We have also 3D printed the ethereum logos that are contained inside the handle.

How to blacken steel (hot oxide):
A mixture of caustic soda (700g), potasium saltpeter (250g) and water (1,2 l)
The temperature of the solution should be kept between 120 - 140 C.
I keep the knife inside for about 30 minutes to get consistent black colour, you can manipulate the time to achieve different results, shorter period should give you dark brown or purple - ish colour.
Be careful - this mixture is highly corrosive!
    Heat treatment:
    -Austenizing temperature: 830 C
    -Tempering: 180 C
    Specs:
    NightFighTer
    Steel: 80CrV2
    Blade thickness: 5 mm / 0.197"
    Length: 280 mm
    Blade width: 36 mm
    Blade length: 150 mm
    Weight: 300 g
    Handle: 3D printed epoxy

Soon are you not making videos anymore? Is all ok on your end. It is a pleasure to watch you create these knives. Watching you show from the beginning episodes where you had basic and DIY tools has motivated me to atleast try. Thank you for your time you share and I hope all is alright.

Stop attaching the jig to the knife from the front, screw 4 screws in the from the back, use 2 as rests and use a clamp to hold the knife, then to reverse, simply unscrew 2 screws and screw in the other 2, flip the knife and re-clamp. You waste time and lose focus having to use tools to reverse. You also do not have the blade supported near the tip end, so any longer/thinner knives may flex when you push against the belt and cause an unintended bevel plane. Try it, 2 pairs of bolts from the back and a clamp, much faster and more versatile use from your jig.

Very cool! But what is NFT and what does it mean this is the "first NFT" knife?

    • @jasonbunge5756
      @jasonbunge5756 Před 3 lety

My guess is this...A non-fungible token (NFT) is a unit of data stored on a digital ledger, called a blockchain, that certifies a digital asset to be unique and therefore not interchangeable.[1] NFTs can be used to represent items such as photos, videos, audio, and other types of digital files. Access to any copy of the original file, however, is not restricted to the buyer of the NFT. While copies of these digital items are available for anyone to obtain, NFTs are tracked on blockchains to provide the owner with a proof of ownership that is separate from copyright.
I also see in the specs he shows KnifeFighTer, but with the digital number on the spine, I'm guessing it's the former.
