This knife is such a beauty.
I started my knifemaking journey a week ago with a 1084 carbon steel full tang knife and I love it, making something nice and useful by my own hands. I have the first piece finished by 80%, fighting with the bevels, bad grit choice and stuff like that. Cant wait for my first heat treatment with the charcoal. I will keep this first one forever with an amazing Wenge wood handle.

@@Garage4Life check out Jeremy Schmidt's belt grinder build. He sells the plans to it, I have to say they are worth the small price he charges, very detailed, well thought out and the materials lists for all. I bought them and the metal for the build but have yet to start the it. Too many other projects in the way plus 2 major hurricanes delayed them but soon...

Wow that Damascus popped when you put it in the coffee ?? I’m in the UK and it would be classed as a offensive weapon but that is craftsmanship at its finest. Keep up the great work my friend. ;-)

To be honest, I’m not a fan of the handle, but the damascus is amazing.
I think he took too much off of the exterior of the handle. Could’ve sanded down the inside of bone to decrease the thickness and leave a lot of the grooves and texture of the bone.

If you had to choose between a belt grinder or an angle saw for a beginner to make a knife what would you suggest?

Absolutely beautiful!! Just wondering, can you take a swab soaked with whatever acid you’re using to bring out the Damascus and soak the metal along the top, back and bottom of the handle so the grain of the Damascus shows throughout the metal on the handle as well?

So, it's a damascus knife, but yet it's not. All that handle fit up, should've been done before etching, so that the pattern is visible all around the tang.
Awesome job, you could have flipped it and used the straight side as the blade and curved side as back and would look badass also.

I know sandind down the inside of the hqndle material is hard and takes up alot of time but it would have come out waaaay sicker... if u have a bandsaw u can resaw and that is a quick and painless way to get er done ✔
