So cool to hear somebody be like "yeah you know what this fucking sucks, look at this stupid trail with all these stupid sticks and rocks and branches, I'm pissed off" etc. rather than the usual "it was such an amazing experience I just dug deep and got through it". Nice to see someone overcome struggle and adversity when they clearly just want to give up. Awesome work, super inspirational.

I've known my share of elite endurance athletes. It's about limit testing and limit testing hurts. For the most part, the long distance running community is honest about it, though.
Most interviews I've seen with elite ultramarathoners are about finding a headspace where you are ok with an insane amount of agony.

Don’t know this dude or this channel but have been jamming on the ultra stuff for the last handful of years and guessing I finally consumed all the other ultra content. It is W-I-L-D that he did this on that little training. The elevation to distance ratio is pretty gnarly. Can’t skip long runs, can’t skip downhill training (eccentric loading). Elevation is a mofo after a while. Great video dude and congrats. Most of us need to do more hard stuff and when you complete something that you actually thought was out of your capability, it truly changes you. Hope some of y’all get inspired by this and take the plunge.

It's so freakin cool to see popular content creators shine their spotlight on ultrarunning. It's an amazing sport that has given so much to so many people.
When I was 16 I was smoking weed everyday and was extremely uncomfortable in my own skin. I was 300 lbs and just walking was so uncomfortable.
I started getting into shape and saw several movies about ultrarunning but wrote that off as something for the elite. I just wanted to be able to run a 5k.
Over the next 10 years I learned a ton about diet, exercise, and how to be happy. Now, I'm 26 and I just finished my first 100 mile mountain race last weekend in 22 hours and 31 minutes.
I'm not posting this to brag. Hopefully, people see Cody's video, and this comment, and content similar and realize ANYONE can do AMAZING things. And the gratification and fulfillment that can be achieved through it is UNREAL.
There is so much love and personal growth and just all around awesome shit that comes from running any distance, but especially in ultras.
Thank you for making this video, Cody. And congratulations on the race!

@Josh Chapman just stay consistent and you'll get there! One thing that helped me make a lot of progress quickly is doing reallyyyyyy slow runs or run/walking. Can get a lot more time on feet without as much pounding on your muscles and joints. Most coaches and books will recommend this too. 70-90 percent of your runs should be at conversational pace!

I so badly want to run a marathon. But I’ve just started running again. I can run 5kms without stopping, my cardio is not a problem, but my legs will need to adjust, as my calves were jacked up just from that. I guess it’s going to be a process to get my body to adjust and start racking up more kilometres

I'm not crazy enough to even THINK of attempting this though. I'd say only a small minority of people really get the chance to discover that they can achieve something like this, no matter the current health and mindset they have. When I realized I could run a full marathon without stopping, I knew that literally anyone could do it. Not a lot of people realize how empowering endurance exercises and training like this can be to every single aspect of your mind and life. There are so many answers to all of our insecurities and doubts that come out when we actually run 10, 20, 37, 50, 100 miles at a time. It's the best thing I've ever experienced and it's something that I will never give up on. Glad you took this journey Cody. No one ever regrets finishing a race like this. Not a single soul.

I have a condition called compartment syndrome in my legs which makes running painful. About a year ago I decided I wanted to run a marathon, the most I’d ever run in my life was 6 miles. It seemed impossible given my condition but I wanted to do it. Trained for about 3 months and in the end I finished the marathon in 5 hours and 35 minutes. I took about 50 breaks, and for a guy this is well below average, but I consider it the biggest thing I’ve accomplished in my life. This video reminded me how important it is to push yourself to do things that at first thought you find impossible

Pushing our limits and challenging our beliefs of what we're capable of, although very repeated in the inspiration world, is really a transformative experience. I felt this so hard!! A few months ago, I went solo backpacking for the first time in Switzerland. I’m definitely not an athlete but I forced myself to hike down this mountain for 3 hours with zero training. It was honestly one of the hardest things I did on my own. The pain in your feet/ knees is so real! Also my focus was solely on the ground the whole time, trying to dodge all the rocks and tree roots, with a steep drop to my side. Honestly, it was terrifying how with one wrong slip, I could have hurt myself or even died. But I stuck with it!! It was the best feeling to finally make it to the end. Even though you’re tired, you feel like you’re on top of the world and are capable of anything!! Thank you Cody for reminding me of that experience! This is my new favourite video of yours, it's so inspiring, and i'm now looking to do one! would love more videos on your training before and mindset before during and after, etc. Did you get any post race depression?

i love this, my parents run ultra marathons (100 mile races) and some tips i’ve learned from them to give to you is make sure your fueling enough, you probably crashed because you ran out of calories, and keep a positive mindset! i know it’s hard but just learn to start appreciating the trail, the nature, etc. and try to find someone to run with, it makes time go by faster

LOVE THIS CONTENT! Don’t get me wrong I love the comedy in your reaction videos and got hooked from the old Noel videos (especially the one with the two Christian girls “mr.struggle” 🤣) but since the surfing video I wanted more of your passions and hobbies and seeing you work hard for the things that light you up in life! Loved the explanation in the beginning of this one too and your thought process on hearing your first reaction being “I could never do that” and recognizing that you didn’t like that limitation on yourself and in response used it as a start to getting back into doing cool shit that isn’t going to be easy but is a good goal and new experience! Love the way you also make humor in the cliché shit cause I always feel the same cause it’s true shit but cringe woke 🤣🤣

Congratulations Cody! I’ve been running since I’m in like 4th grade and it’s been my lifestyle since 8th. I’m now a senior in high school and couldn’t imagine my life without running. I’ve never ran that far at once, that was extremely impressive and a true test of heart. No one is stopping you now dude, keep it going!

I don’t ever comment, but Cody this was so inspirational.
Coming from a man in the army who dreads my 12+ mile rucks and 8 mile runs, this motivated me to continue to strive to better myself at these things!
Seriously, next time I’m on a long distance run or ruck I’m going to think about this video and push myself even if I feel like slowing down!
Keep up the great content man!

      Limexplosions Před 3 měsíci

@Hunter yeah dude I thought I was watching a Disney show about being yourself. And lowkey I’m here for it, like the name tag game is kind of an amazing song. In fact, I’d say Rise Up, Sing Out is the second best show on Disney jr (after Bluey obviously). But like have you see Mickey Mouse Funhouse? That house is evil I swear to god. And sure maybe I’m biased bc animated objects that should absolutely not be animated (aka doc mcstuffins) are terrifying, but you look into those dead eyes and tell me that house has a soul and is perfectly normal. You can’t, bc we both know you’d be lying. Sorry that became a rant about Disney. Second, I don’t even know if I’ll graduate highschool so I probably shouldn’t be stressing about possible 8 mile runs. Thirdly, tbh any length of run sucks. I’m a worm. I’m round but still way too thin, have no limbs, and am very slimy. That last part isn’t true, I’m only moderately slimy. Oh crap I just remembered that it’s likely that I have this disease than basically makes my bones squishy. Would I still be able to join? Or is it like Captain America Styles where I could be like turned away. Or is that only a war thing, was a war happening when Captain America tried to join? I’ve seriously gotten off track. Ok goodbye I’ll either do homework or continue to procrastinate and make cookies. Bye!

@Emily Werner look up Couch to 5K program. It's supposed to get you up and running with progressively complex interval runs. I've got a heart condition, so I'm tripling the amount of runs at every step as to not worsen my condition, so feel free to adjust it as you see fit, but overall it's an incredible, publicly documented program that worked for millions of people. Hope it works out for you!
