Did I miss any awesome scripts?
@᪶ ᪶ au contraire: there's one for smb3 that lets you draw lines for mario to slide on using the mouse, a la kirby squeak squad/canvas curse/mass attack idk which one it was sorry
sadly i can't seem to find the original video i saw it in, the best i got is this: czcams.com/video/LYvzu5SbhJs/video.html
Maybe but your awsome man!
There's one in Metroid that adds saving, map screens, and weapon toggles similar to Super Metroid.
@@Fr3ak_MM8BDM - Check out the romhack "Metroid: Rogue Dawn" if you haven't yet. It's actually really good and like the script you mentioned, it has battery saves, a map and even some mechanics from Super Metroid brought in!
@@rawkfistgaming That's actually the _first_ one I checked!
hey killgruz! today i invited my 5 year old niece to play smb1 and used (the invisivility and falling in pits dont kill) codes i got from your channel. so thanks man!!!
I don't think it is a higher entry bar that made Lua scripts less popular than rom hacks. Lua scripting is emulator dependent, while a rom hack will theoretically work on any emulator or even an actual console. A rom hack is theoretically fairly future-proofed as well. Once applied, a hacked rom is also a single file to deal with. The video mentions the security issues of Lua scripts. Some may also view the difference as a "purity" issue, Lua scripting starts to bridge into PC remake territory. There are numerous issues that can turn people away from Lua scripts. (I have to admit that I myself tend to use them more for analysis or enhancing emulator features rather than something closer to rom hacking.)
I was just looking for possible just fun scripts. And, you're probably right, plus programing in general can be hit and mis. Even for old retrogames. Being able to just choink it into a emulator is a lot more appealing than hopping a github repo still lets you download. Or even show up on google in the first place. Where as, like you said, a good chance that a rom might be on romhacking and probably work what ever emulator. I made a romhack of supermario world, for having mario run much faster, and reduce input lag. When (or if) I publish that. People can play it on just about any emulator. Where as hacks for even something basic like just pick up a shell or jump at random: demends on the emulator, and rom version (barf)
Is there really a high bar to entry? Lua is much easier than 6502 assembly :>
Made me happy to see this video here after taking a long test for my apprenticeship, this is kickass man!!
Great video man! I'd love to see you do a playthrough of chaos edition.
ah, this videos aweome. lots of nostalgia watching your shit years ago. glad to see you haven’t changed!
this is the most chill channel i watch
Wow, these look really cool. You can do a ton more with the scripts than I was expecting. I'm surprised this never took off, it looks like some crazy stuff could be done. But, like you said, it is probably because rom hacking is so much simpler, with a lot of it just being drag and drop.
I used other emulators, so I totally missed on this! Thanks😃💖
Megamans laser eyes are both awesome and comical at the same time :)
Funny timing, I've actually just gotten into lua scripting recently. Made some basic stuff for Metroid.
Should make some stuff for SMBX2.
@@Animebryan2 Gross
@@alexman2598 What! There's nothing gross about SMBX2! What are you talking about?
@@Animebryan2 Completely and entirely gross
@@alexman2598 nope, you're the gross one here
Love your channel killgruz, you rock bro !!!
SMB Chaos looks pretty fun! I'd be down to see at least a short playthrough.
@Gruz: Some script are in FCEUX by default, the input display, frame counter, input recorder, video recorder within the FCEUX emulator.
Waaaaay back in 2011, I was working on a Lua script where you can play the original Zelda multiplayer over a network connection. It was mostly finished but I never finished everything... Guess it's one of those doomed projects.
That said though, it's an AMAZING example of what can be done with Lua scripts!
EDIT: A commentor wanted me to upload this for viewing\editing. It's VERY rough and I don't really wanna work on it anymore, so here it is for whoever wants it:
drive.google.com/file/d/1cUFqYY6bqqQr14uTScSsLpdt8eNXkoir/view?usp=sharing
Bozo Lummox That sounds amazing! Could you release your script so that I could finish it or at least screw around with it?
@@kawcco yeah if I can find it I'll kick it over. How can I reach out?
@@kawcco I went ahead and uploaded it to my Google Drive: drive.google.com/file/d/1cUFqYY6bqqQr14uTScSsLpdt8eNXkoir/view?usp=sharing
Good luck!
You should showcase what you have here and see if any interest for it develops and maybe give permission for someone interested to continue it
@@L00D__ oh, permission is absolutely granted. Do whatever you guys want with the code! I have a few testing videos on my channel from WAAAAY back when
Just checked, they're still there!
I didn’t even know this was a thing! I’ll have to check these out.
Never heard of these before, fun stuff man. Def think the chaos one looks awesome haha
You should do a video on HD packs!
I didn’t even know about this! That’s really cool. You could go nuts and change anything
Do more videos on these
I would love to watch a playthrough with that jetpack code, of regular SMB1 or any romhack. This is cool stuff.
Nice video Gohan!
subbed because of this video :)
amazing. keep it up bro
A chaos playthrough sounds like fun to me!
God, I wanna see more of these
Chaos mario looks fun
Amazing!!!
Cool :) greetings from Poland :)
A lot of these actually come with FCEUX.
Also, I'm pretty sure someone with knowledge of LUA can fix the outdated scripts so they work with newer versions of FCEUX.
i never knew about scripts. living and learning.
I so wish I had the emulator technology we have today back as a kid in the 90s and 2000s. I'd have never came out of my room lol
The mario click and drag script would be cool for multiplayer
The mouse-drag ones would be fun if you had a second player using the mouse to mess with you while you try to beat the level
fun fact, input display actually exists as an option in Input settings
do a chaos-run, that would be great!
2:20 *Finally* I have found out how Vinesauce Joel did that rewinding trick.. thank you gruz!
sorry to be a year late, but joel and vinny use bizhawk, an emulator that automatically has rewind.
Would be cool as well to see the chaos script in a Sonic game.
ah, i've seen that rewinding script before and always wanted to know how somebody got that to work. thanks
I think there's one for Metroid that adds a map and some other features
That jetpack script can make a sub 1 minute SMB1 run possible
I create external scripts but for gb/gba games for stream interactions and live overlays of the emulated game
So underated ..
Chaos mode could be fun
Great video man! I am doing a documentary on return to dark castle. Would you happen to know where I could find the various teasers and betas? Do you have any information on the game that is readily available? Let me know if you have anything. Thanks.
I know Jon God had posted the teasers online years ago - check out the Dark Castle Forum or the discord. People are still active on the Discord.

NULTKA
Good luck!
i love the fceux version of smb1
I'd like a Chaos Edition playthorugh!
Plot twist: it's not Megaman and nipples. It's Dr. Eggman in disguise and he shoots his SUPAH LASER P*SS!!!
As far as I remember, I've made the LUA script for FCEUX, which allows you to use keyboard to write names, answers, etc. on Jeopardy! for NES, instead of using controller to do so. github.com/Titanic4/FCEUX-lua-scripts/blob/master/JeopardyKeyboardInput.lua
The code may be not the cleanest out there, but it does the job very well.
Nice! I added a link to it on my site (updated url is in description)
Not a script but what Mario Chaos reminds me of is that there is a few RAM values you can change in 1st gen Pokemon to cause a slow but unpredictable chain reaction RAM corruption that basically made it like a ROM hack. Think it's the ZZAZZ glitch CZcams channel or something like that I learned it from
You’re right Gruz! It DOES SUCK to use a KEYBOARD for super Mario bros! Even in an any% speedrun world record.
Yeah, I don't think ANYONE could get a world record with a KEYBOARD
@@ToaderTheToad czcams.com/video/UY6slAvxQSU/video.html
Could you make a tutorial about the rewind power on fceux?, im trying to find a way to configure that
So how do I install this rewind script (and maybe also the laser nips one) into my real life?
I have a SMB Challenge Code for you
OAATZA.
It freezes mario when an enemy is near, they can walk through walls but you cant, it makes powerups hard to collect.
Stable code but you will need fire Mario to kill bowser.
Super Mario Chaos edition please!! 😃
Like gruz said BE CAREFUL. This is EXACTLY how some computer viruses work!
Where can I see more of the Zelda/Link super Mario hack?
Yea 👌
how do you make the smb mouse script work
Does anyone have the link to Scarlet spider Dave? I think he's changed his website. He has a bunch of LUA Scripts that are absolutely worth giving a looksee. 😁
I have Mac Mac doesn’t use exe files it uses I believe dmg files
How are LUA scripts made for ROMs?
Pretty sure that first one was integrated into FCEUX as well?
have an idea for a script if a game crash an ai will uncrash it by putting stuff in ram
This is actually a great idea. I've done something like this in actual NES code but there are a lot of smart ways to help avoid various crashes. I've already seen a corrupter script using rewinding which is nice, but there's things you can do like detecting a delay in "sprite-0 hit detection" or detecting when a game tries to execute some memory it isn't supposed to.
@@ScarletSpiderDave oh also have you seen the stuff ai can do?
@@Ensign_games Yes, I've actually used Lua to avoid a specific crash on a game before, but it would be nice to make a more general anti-crash script ;)

Look at the hole.
Broken neck baby mario :'(
smb chaos? 😳 WHAT EMULATOR? FCE?
Killgruz, yeah... It's better then LGR 🤣🤣😉. Love you shit man, always looking forward to your uploads.
One of the best channels going man, running the nags... THE NAGS!
I have a Mac they don’t use exe files
Cool, lua, like roblox
Did you change your name
Sure did! Been meaning to change it for years but finally got around to it
bruh I like using keyboard for NES, seperate keys are way better than Dpad none of the accidentally pressing up garbage
