4:03 The Leafs acquired Kyle Clifford twice, once from LA with Campbell in 2020 then they got him from St Louis for future considerations in 2021.
Another recent example is that the Leafs acquired Steve Oleksy twice. Now I have never heard of this man before, but apparently the Leafs really liked him. They first acquired him from the Penguins alongside Eric Fehr in exchange for Frank Corrado in 2017, then they reacquired him from the Ducks in 2018 for Adam Cracknell.
I was thinking of Clifford during the whole conversation. Glad I wasn’t the only one!
The Leafs traded for Doug Gilmour from the Flames in 1991 and the Habs in 2003, and got Clark back in a trade with the Islanders in 96 and from the Hawks in 2000.

I think people are just crying so hard on the Boosh trade. First off, it has nothing to do with Gio being injured. Secondly, with the salary retention on the Boosh allows the Leafs to make another big trade. Third, even if the Boosh is a 7th defensemen come playoffs it's still worth it for the insurance factor considering how many injuries to the Leafs blueline has sustained this season. And lastly, It's not guaranteed Lil' or Benoit or will play well every game in the playoffs, having D options gives the Leafs lots of pairing flexibility. This is taking into consideration the Leafs make another trade for a top 4 RHD and considering there a no more injuries on the blueline from now until playoffs. Personally, I think Brad did a good job on this trade.
He's literally just supposed to be a stopgap while they have no RHD.

Sammy is bouncing back from a terrible first half, Woll wants the be the #1 guy, Nylander is refreshed with a new contract, Matthews is likely going to break some kind of scoring record, Benoit playing well and wants to stay a Leaf and the depth scoring finally showing up, buying into system and playing to win.

I dropped Tage Thompson for Erik Kallgren in fantasy last year. I quickly picked Thompson back up after Kallgren lost the game I streamed him for.

Im not about to say lybushkin is better than tanev... but for the price he cost he absolutely is a better fit than tanev.
Tanev is good at blocking shots, being a warrior, fighting in the corners, hits,and chips in for a bit of offense. Boosh does all of that minus the bit of offense ( which the leafs dont need).
Tanev would have cost at least a first round pick and probably 2.something million on the cap with 50 percent retained. Lybooshking with double retention only cost a 3rd and a 6th and only cost 600 k on the cap....
In terms of cost vs value i gotta say trieliving hit this deal out of the park. Can trieliving package maybe niemela, robertson and the first round pick for a good right handed d with a couple of years of term?
Honestly even if trieliving doesnt get another d man, do the leafs really need to add this year? Look at florida. Two years ago florida sold the farm and got nowhere, last year they did nothing at the deadline and got to the finals?
Treliving traded a 3rd and a 6th for a player with some of the worst advanced stats in the entire league who will probably play as a 7th for most of his time in Toronto, yeah treliving hit this one out of the park 🤡

And are you that type of fan who doesn't understand how the trade market works? Thebleafs didn't trade 3rd and a 6th for Boosh? In actual player cost, he was a 4th rnd pick. The bump up to a third was the trade to toronto tax ( every team charges more when trading with toronto), and the 50 percent retention. The 6th round pick was for the other 50 percent retention.
Like it or not, the league is in a hard cap, and the Leafs don't have the luxury of being stocked up on right handed d men, or having a ton of space for moves. All this to say that if you want to be on a neutral or winning end of a deal leverage is key.
Considering thay trieliving had no leverage I'd say this was a fairly good deal considering the circumstances.
Boosh hits, blocks shot, moves people away from the net , gets in scrums, and is a menace in the corners. Pair Boosh with a quick outlet passer like brodie or a rusher like Reilly and he will thrive.
