  • This is my Kess Dissident Mage cEDH Storm Deck Tech. Highlighting specific key cards, interactions, utilities, play style/theory, and strengths of this build. Detailing why I chose to run the cards I did, how they complement the larger strategy being facilitated within the deck and displaying a bit of the critical thought I used to come to my final decisions. I hope this was informative and entertaining, please feel free to leave me constructive feedback so I can continue improving my content. Stay tuned for many more deck techs!
    Thank you for taking the time to watch this video!(:

    Excellent video mate. Thanks for dedicating your time in doing so. Am trying to build a Storm Kess and you have helped me a lot. Any chance you could add a tappedout Decklist to the description so we can see your progress/updates on the deck? Hope so! Thanks and keep up the good work!

    Deck looks top notch man! Looks like a blast to play, I’ll be taking pointers from this for the Circu Scepter list I’ve been workin on. Also the explanation on how to abuse the stack with Top/Dramatic Scepter was super helpful!

      That is awesome to hear! I love when I can help another MTG lover gain insight to strong interactions, means the world to me. You should post your Circu Scepter list sometime, Id love to see Joey. This certainly is a blast to play, it is my best deck by a long shot. I dont usually play completely cEDH decks but it is good to have one you can pull out at a competitive table.

    So filter and tutor your way into isochron combo with e-flux reservoir. Kess can do lots of broken things if you have the right combos. What if you you could return cards to your hand leveraging Kess' ability with other cards? There are ways. You get more uses of your spells. Very powerful in a singleton format. The additional cast you can get with Kess is powerful on its own further more adding multiple cast triggers running storm cards. Especially, if you have ways if casting spells for 0 mana. Kess does have her downsides though. She's a brewers dream regardless.

    Like the list man very similar to mine. I added grapeshot in my list. Goes infinite with dramatic scepter.

      Darrin White that’s a really good idea, it takes care of the problem I have when the reservoir gets removed and I need a secondary win con. Plus grapeshot can be cast from the grave with kess. Thank you for the great input!

      Also a lot harder for opponents to counter bc of storm going on the stack. Glad to help

      Darrin White so true, I’ll be adding grapeshot in. Certainly going to help make the deck more resilient!

    Today I used my Kess build to hit Winds of Change right after my opponent used a demonic tutor. He followed up with a noxious revival before his upkeep and used the tutor again... and God bless her, Kess let me cast it from the grave again. Crippled everyone. Ain’t nothing like turn 1 or 2 wheel effects!

      Ryan Linkous oh man hitting the double wheel after back to back opponent tutors is such an amazing interaction!! Totally made them waste 2 turns and 2 tutors, I love it. Kess is actually so darn good. T&T is great, but kess really holds my favorite cEDH commander pick every time.

    The music is too loud its distracting, you can hardly hear the deck teck. Sick deck nonetheless.

    Also have you thought of running Bonus Round or Bolas’ Citadel?
    Bolas’ Citadel + Sensei’s Top = draw your deck
    Bolas’ Citadel + Aetherflux Reservoir = storming off top while gaining life to lethal your opponents.

    • @CullenReck
      @CullenReck  Před 4 lety +1

      Ryan Linkous those are both fantastic card options! Initially I didn’t have bolas’s citadel in my list because I wanted to have greedy ad nauses without the concern of hitting a 6 cmc spell.. but with my revisions to the deck I do actually run it now. The card is like one card win con %70+ of the time when it resolves, plus I already was running aetherflux & sensei’s top. I have not put bonus round in - although that card is absolutely nuts - due to it feeling like a win more card (not doing enough when not storming off) when I’d proffer to run just a good stand alone card with high functionality on an average turn. I have buffed my build a good amount, so I may need to post an updated list soon:D

      @notabotm9923 Před 4 lety +1

      Cully it depends how you use bonus round in your build. Example you drop bonus round + demonic tutor and search for dark petition for 1 of them, the other cabal ritual, gives you 10 black mana plus 2 tutors netting you 11 black mana upon casting it plus 2 spells. It CAN be a win more card, or it could, and mainly, cripple opponents because it causes you to have an immense upper hand over your competition. But each build is its own and unique and metas matter a lot for now builds are ran.

    • @notabotm9923
      @notabotm9923 Před 4 lety +1

      Cully I find bonus round to be a win con with any tutor in hand.

    • @CullenReck
      @CullenReck  Před 4 lety +1

      Ryan Linkous those are some very strong plays with bonus round, I may have under estimated its ability to start off a storm turn with ease. I will have to reconsider my thoughts on the card and give it a try, after all the card is nuts. I’m just imagining casting it from hand, then a second time from grave triggering the first bonus rounds reverberate effect.. it just sounds like insane value!!

      @notabotm9923 Před 4 lety +1

      Cully ad nauseam at this point becomes only necessary to hit mana rocks for scepter combos for a storm win, or need to hit a tutor. No need to draw your deck with it as you can combo off with the tutors generating tons of mana in the process!
