One of my most favorite roadsters is the ND 2 Mazda Miata, and yes a new base model Miata with a warranty is a great deal. But, after driving the S2000 and feeling how visceral it is, it makes sense to me why the Honda S2000 continues to go up in value.

I have an 03 and still get compliments on it everyday I take it out..FYI, there is some additional storage above the “glove compartment”. It pops open at the top.
Another tip: a lot of the creaks and rattles go away if you just slightly preload the top (latch it and then flip the top down button).

I have sat in my instructor's S2000 on the track and it is AMAZING. As a street car it's already amazing but on the track it's truly a weapon

Yep its a good idea to run premium, you can run 87 but it runs horribly. (i tried it once they had no other gas).
Nice review. The S2000 was never intended to be great for grocery-getting type stuff. For that, a Miata or something else is perhaps a little easier to live with. The S2000 absolutely shines once you get it into canyon carving, track days or other similar driving. Even today the 20 (plus or minus) year old S2K is one of the best tools for those jobs. I've owned 2 Miatas and now have an S2000. By the way, the S2000 is one of very few cars that actually came with its own screw-in tow hook. If you know anything about Hondas and racing you know they didn't include that item because they thought the car would break down a lot. They knew many S2000s would be used for track days and/or racing.
Hey brother, great review on this S2000! I am a huge fan, and always have been. I’ll never forget when it came out how excited I was. I then had a family member who bought one and let me drive it, and a friend who bought one and super charged it and let me drive it all the time. I raced so many cars with his super charged S2000. You want to talk about a screaming Engine, 9000 RPM along with a Paxton supercharger, was sweet music to my ears! Again thank you so much for this great review, I wish I could have been there to ride along side you.
I've owned my S2000 in identical spec to this one for about 10 months after dreaming about once since I was 12. It has a few more kms but it is the most gorgeous car ever. I love my S2000 :)
Purchased my 06 AP2 brand new from a Honda dealership back in 2006. Somehow I knew that as soon as you heard/felt the VTEC kick in, you’d immediately fall in love… just like most of us here. The kicker is that it turns just as lively as it revs. Great job capturing the spirit of the S2K👍

I just got my 2003 sazuka blue with 42k miles a couple months ago. An old guy had it in his garage for years. He finally decided to let it go.. it's a blast to drive! It's got some great options.. factory cd changer, front lip, rear spoiler... very nice.

I have both. Prelude is almost as good overall and better on twisty roads but nobody says a word about that. Most owners are just posers

The Honda prelude 5th gen is very underrated always loved the prelude and this is coming from an 01 S2K owner

Right on, recently acquired mine with plans on using it primarily at the track. I used to ride sport bikes at track events, but getting older with accumulated injuries sucks. Yeah, these cars are becoming less available and more expensive, but I'm going to enjoy mine for it's intended purpose
Drive a S2k modded for STR class in autocross, i love my 01 with the 255 all around. Not super fast in a strait line but the cornering is amazing. The best mod for this car is replacing the large 27mm sway bar, a 21mm bar is plenty and will not make the car as tail happy.
Great video brother I'm in the car market right now and since you already driven this car already. I'm don't know what to get between the S2000 or a 2016 lexus is350 f sport rwd. Which do recommend and which one is faster and drives better?

Yea S2K will probably be more fun but of course the sedan is def the better daily and IS is still fun. Just depends on what is more important for you, if you don't need practicality I would def go S2k
How did my car end up in this video?! Between my ap1 s2k and e46m3 I drive my stock s2k much more even though it’s slower. More fun with the top down 👍🏻

One of my absolute favorites!!! Up there with the Grand National, Fox 5.0, and 300ZX for me. I would jump on this but have my eye on the IS500

So I have AP1 and love it. I am looking to sell it and get an IS500.
I could keep it and get CTR instead of IS500.
Not sure what makes more sense. Keep S2000 and get another great Honda CTR, or sell the S2000 and het IS500.
The best would be to keep the S2000 and get the IS500 😁
@@bcvijasiu personally, if I had the best roadster ever I would keep it. And I'd get the IS500 as a fun daily. It may not be track focused but trust me that n/a V8 is a jewel.

Just got an '05 Suzuka Metallic Blue with 97,000 on it for 21k here in Cali. I was surprised at how much these went up in value. 10 years ago I bought an '03 with 67k for 12,500...but I had nothing but bad luck with the F20c as much as I miss the 9k redline......

For the size of the S2000 it has thickest door sills I have ever seen. It's like climbing a mountain

I owned an AP1 and it's definitely one of the most engaging, entertaining and best bang for the buck sports cars. And yes, it's so much better with the top down. You have to pay so much more for anything that is similar--GT 350, GTS, etc.. I also owned a turbo Miata, and the S2000 is on another level. I have also driven base and S Porshe Camen/Boxster and the S2000 is so much more fun on the street and autocross. Not better, just more fun and dramatic. Just an amazing car and they don't make them like it anymore, and that's why I'm looking to buy another one.

For a long time the S2K was the NSX’s alternative prices have gotten out of hand for this car might as well get the MX5 Miata at least I don’t have to worry about parts not being made for the car anymore.
Yea a new Miata with a warranty is probably the pragmatic choice, no need to worry and it is still an amazing car

So true, If I had an S2K I wouldn't care about its value, just annihilate it life is too short. But you can def do that with a Miata as well

If you're cautious like me, you can always carry a can of Fix-A-Flat, or your track tire kit 🏎️🪛🧰

another feature unique to the car is it's the only car with a honda badge in the US to have xenon headlights. And they're really good. The bmw forums back in the day were asking why a honda had better headlights than their 5 series!

2:05 the moment when he becomes a believer! Trust me, the hype is real and beyond! I have driven Porsche 911, E46 & E36 M3, M Roadster, and the Porsche is the only one that comes close the fun factor of the S2000. Love my AP1. I rev that bad boy to the moon and the car destroys the turns and corners like nothing else. And that drivetrain though! None of the cars mentioned even come close to the crips and precise shifting of the S2000.
I totally see why these things are shooting up in price, there’s nothing else quite like it
Ap2 also has shorter gearing and carbon syncros.

The Miata is definitely a better owner's car just because it's popular parts are everywhere and they've been making them for 30 years. But God damn the S2000 is a perfect driver's car

I love the S2000. It was the first roadster I truly admired. They are however, extremely overpriced.
Yes I hate what has happened to these cars I understand why it's happening but this gem has now become almost unobtainable. You could get high mileage ones tho but still like 15k
