Just bought one about 2 weeks ago! I love it! Was able to find a completely stock 1 owner 2003 with 91k miles! Was able to pick it up for 15k. So glad i picked one up.

I am an old fart, I turn 70 next week. I have owned this car for three years, mostly drive it in good weather and on weekends but it is so much fun. I’ve had a lot of cars in my life and none of them are this much fun. When people say that you have to thrash this car to get the most out of it, it makes it sound as though it’s gutless but it isn’t. It’s just a car that begs to be driven hard. For anyone who truly loves to drive, this is your car.

You touched on something in this video that most others who review these cars overlook - the fact that you can explore so much of this car's capabilities without losing your license. There are so many cars out on the road today with mad levels of performance. They are marvels in their own right. But I love that with the S2000, I need to work it out hard to really get it moving along (yet, once again, while still being able to retain my license). To me, that is exactly what a sports car is supposed to be all about.

I bought my 2007 AP2 (Silverstone Metallic with Red/Black interior)with only 27,800 miles on it back in 2012 when I was 60 years old. I currently have about 43,000 miles on it and still loving it. When I take it out for a drive, I drive it like it's STOLEN!

I do that on the free way on and off ramp and once a while on a green light left turn with no cars around.
I bought my 2006 ap2 in January 2023. I turn 60 years old in August 2023. In my younger days I had three rx7s so I know all about sports car, but for some reason never knew about the S2000 until the past couple years couple years which it drew me in. What an amazing piece of machinery

I've owned my 00 S2K for 4.5 Years and I love it. Its the only car I've owned that every-time I drive it, it puts a big smile on my face. Although in Northern Ireland it tends to rain quite a bit but if your in Vtec you'll usually not be getting wet. She's been ultra reliable and has never let me down in the 30K miles I have done in her *touch wood*, even took it to S2K Euromeet in Italy which was a great experience, the sound of 198 S2000's in the Italian alps is a experience i'll never forget. As far as i'm concerned Honda hit the ball out of the park with this car, I can see why they've been reluctant to produce another as they would have a hard time living up to the original.

I own a '01 AP1 got it when I was 18, I'm almost 19 now. I can say it's not the smartest decision for a beginner driver, but it's such a fun car.

I got mine when I was 19, I am now 27. I learned to drive stick on the car. Please heed my advise and buy really good tires & take it to autocross. Autocrossing will help you learn your limits as a driver in the car; don't wild out on the public roads. I may have crashed mine early in my ownership b/c I drove beyond my abilities -- cheers safe driving
wanted a S2000 since 2005 when I was in middle school. Finally picked one up in mid-July 2020 at 25yo. This is a great video and great to see this car gets the love it deserves. It truly is a fun car to drive.

The Honda S2000 was a result of an incredible design team’s, 5 years of dedication. At the time, Ayrton Senna (one the greatest F1 drivers ever) was with Honda team and his fingerprints are all over this car’s design, suspension tuning and most importantly engine tuning. This is why the Honda S2000 has its “real driver’s car” feel when you drive it.
That's a myth. Aryton did not help develop any Honda production car. He just test drove the nsx on a track to help with the marketing.

They are, crazy how they weren’t as popular as some others in it’s time.
I own a AP1 2002 Model since 2010, bought with 80000kilometers, now its over 180000.
I wouldn't like to have it as a daily but as a freetime and trackcar i love it.
Modern turbo cars are faster, but the driving feeling that the S2000 is giving you can no hot hatch give you.
The feeling is what counts for me, not 0-60miles or 0-1/4mile times. Even at low speeds i love how it feels when i take a curve.
You can track it but you can also cruise it with the top down.

Just bought my first S2000, all stock with 54k miles and I am loving it. Reminded me of my first brand new car, a 1992 Integra. To me, this S2000 was the pinnacle of Honda cars.

@@305dadecounty305 2006 MY and $17,900.00. Texas car, all numbers matching. Now I have 59k miles. KnN air filter / Advan A08 tires. I tracked it once to see if the hype is real and yes, its very much everything people have said about this car.

@@305dadecounty305 If the car is clean, all matching, interior is clean and everything is where it is supposed to be,then you may have something worth getting. See if you can take it to a Honda dealership and ask them to give it a good once over and go from there. I had to put some money into a lower control arm. It was bent and dramatically affected the handling. I then took out the seats and had them re-bolstered. Changed all fluids and had Honda give it a full inspection. It cost about 1800.00 but the car is now like new. If you dont have any parts that need attention then i may be a good buy. Mine is all stock except the KnN air filter. Try to keep it that way because you will earn your investment back and likely gain on it too.

Good review. I've owned mine for 10 years now and this review hits all the important points. The only thing I take exception to is the comment about the engine sounds from 6,000 rpm up. It's frantic but it will never blow unless you have messed with it and turbo or super charged it.

Bought one on impulse and loving it ever since. Came from a much higher powered car (R34 Skyline), yet the driving enjoyment of the S2000 is just as fun (if not more).

I had an AP1 for about 5 years in the late 2000's and sold it. It was my only car at the time and I needed something more practical. Completely regret that decision now.
It’s a tough one.
I bought a 2006 back in 2014, drove it for 2 years...sold it for 3000 more than i paid for it. Regretted the decision to sell every single day afterwards...then 3 years later, the guy i sold it to, offered it back to me, and i got it back for 3000 less than i sold it to him for!!
Definitely the car I'll get once student debt is taken care of. Probably the best graduation gift you can give yourself.

There's actually even a way to open the hood even more, and I've always liked that trick. I believe it was designed that way to make working on it easier.

I had read long long ago that in the first generation the rpm’s were displayed in a straight line from L to R with thin light strips
They designed it that way so that when it was halfway lit , that’s where was the sweet spot for v-tec was , so when you’d be driving fast with your eyes on the road, you’d be able to see with your peripheral vision where the rpm’s were and where v-tec was

If you lock the driver's door lock, it actually locks the passenger door as well. So essentially you do have a button to lock the doors ;)

The S2000 Is at Its best as a weekend car or track car.
I also daily my S2000 but you can only truly appreciate how great it is when you drive something else then get back into it!

i had my first s2k at 21 and my 2nd at 26. AP1 first then AP2 which i prefer having owned both. however, in the UK we have our AP2 with the F20 engine that hits 9500revs whilst having the better exterior. My AP2 has DOUBLED IN VALUE IN LESS THAN 3 YEARS. Buy one whilst you can!!!!!!!!!!

same in Australia - the F20c engine reigned until 2009 here too. I think Honda had to appease the US market with the F22c early in the piece as their target market at the time didn't appreciate high revving low capacity power
I had an AP1 Suzuka Blue with blue interior. I definitely envied the AP2 wheels. It was one of the first cars with START button. It Fit like a glove, handled like a go Kart, had the best shifter ever made. God I miss it.
Main competition at the time was the Porsche Boxster, BMW Z4, and Nissan Z.

Bought a year 2000 AP1 August 2019. Amazing car to drive. Makes me smile every time I take it out. Now looking to add a Jaguar XKR-S to the garage and having to decide whether to sell my 2018 Civic or the S2K. S2K needs to stay.
I own an '05 AP2 identical to the example in this video. It's a riot to drive, but you have to beat the life out of it, which it wants, and it delivers. They will continue to climb in value as cars become less mechanical and more robotic. Grab one while you still can!

I remember chasing one when I got my first car back in high school (2004). It was a MK3 golf 2.0 slow and long story short S2000 went around a hairpin turn I followed, he pulled out flawlessly, I spun out and nearly crashed into a bus...

if you want a fun to drive roadster AND you value your money. This is the only game in town!. Love the ND2 Miata but you will lose money on it.
This for me along with the NSX, is the perfect driver's car. The best Engine EVER....10 years ahead of every supercar maker!!!! Amazing, superb engineering

I wouldn't say best engine ever. One of the best....... The biggest flaw is the lack of torque...... The v10 from the McLaren F1, s14 from e30 m3, voodoo from gt350R, etc etc..... It's hard to say.... That's not including Motorsport engines.....
I just bought that exact car. 2005 Sebring Silver with black interior. All original one owner with only 44k miles. Recent major service of all fluids and plugs / VC gasket. I’m 6’ 2” at 275 lbs clothed and armed, and I actually fit decently. I’m almost 50 y.o.. So far I love the car.
For health reasons, you should shed just a couple lbs.
@@UFC_Buffalo Oh I agree, however my size isn't from a typical obese person, I'm a larger more muscular "heavy". I could stand to drop at least 20-30 lbs. of actual excess weight though.

a lot of people love the s2k shifting gear. i know it goes in butter smooth. the problem i had with it, its not easy to know which gear you jam it into if you shifting fast. with civic or integra, i can just jam it without worrying it goes into the wrong gear - it naturally guide you into the right gear and you can feel which gear its going to. that was not the case with s2k.

I own an 2005 AP2 as well same exterior color, but with red and black interior. The pros the 2004-2005 is the wired throttle body and not drive by wire. Also it DOES NOT come with traction control. It made me a better driver and the drive much more rewarding.
I just started to trail break as I enter my turns and feather the accelerator as I exit, boy does the car rotate really well doing that. Its a slide entering the turn but in a controlled way to prep for the exit.
Ive had my S2k for a little over five years now and I never want to get rid of it. Its a little rough as a daily driver, but I wouldn't trade the fun away for practicality reasons.
And whenever you get close.. come back here and re-read your mindset!
AP1 was built throughout the entire production period from 1999 until 2009. AP2 models, which had the f22c engine, exist in differing years depending on market location.

I bought my 00 S2k right after finishing college in 2007. It has 165k miles on it now and has been crazy reliable, even after hundreds of track day and autocross laps. I've had much "faster" cars over the years, but the S2000 is the only one I refuse to sell. Overall, it's been consistently the most fun to drive AND the cheapest to own and abuse. That's remarkable in and of itself.

I’m 23 and I have owned my 2007 AP2 for 2 years. I bought it as a Christmas present to myself when I was 21. Soon throwing a nice fat turbo on it. I know by turboing the car it will go down in value but at least it’ll be 5x the fun. I love being naturally aspirated but when you throw boost at these engines they really wake up.

this is why i love my Celica GTS. FWD yes, but when you weigh 2200lbs, got a 7800RPM redline and lift/V-tec, it all comes together and you aren't breaking any speed limits going from first to second.

Great video brother. I have a 2005 yellow love it. Remember the S2K is not a daily car its like a motorcycle for me. must people who buy these track them or just dont daily them. Some do of course since they just have 1 car. please mention next time this S2K is not a daily driver. Also 2005 is last year for cable throttle and no traction control. 2006-2009 considered now AP2.5

Love the video man. Great production and love the info you put in. But I gotta correct you on the weight thing. You say you can't get a sports car that's 2700 lbs in today's market without breaking $100,000. But the Fiesta ST makes about 200HP and 202 lb/ft of torque and that little guy weighs at 2700 lbs as well and costs as much as an S2000 used. Just a side note! :D

Those hangers behind the seats were for VHS tapes when you rented movies from Blockbusters. That's what I used it for......

I'm in the UK and bought one of these new in 2004 and kept it for three years. I did enjoy driving it but not as much as the the two previous EP3 Civic Type R's which were a hoot to drive.

or perfect for your 60's or 70's. I just bought one, it has 42,100 miles on it. AP1 nearly perfect and original. The main reason I bought this over a Corvette or Mustang or Alfa or Jensen Healey or Morgan +4 is that the insurance is $119 dollars added to my regular insurance policy. It is like driving in a go-cart, very fun. those 4 hooks are for hanging net bags, not coats.
