Of coz relevant. Coz im still use MSP6 and still relevant - this can be the best benchmark to the main question. 🤗

will only purchase surface when they get their act together and release amd or snapdragon elite models. intel is junk

Whilst I will be looking out for the snapdragon model too this year…. I needed a machine last year and got the surface pro 9 and it gets the job done. Seems quite fast for the type of work I do at least which is productivity and analysis.

Your usage is basic then. Intel surface throttles a lot. You’re basically paying for a high end chip that can only be utilized in low end task due to thermal limitation. Battery also sucks, you get 5 hrs at most. In a time where macbooks can give you 12 hrs+. The weight of the device has alson gone beyond a usable tablet weight. It’s just too heavy for a tablet. The surface pro x was the last usable model they have. I’m currently using a pro 9 arm and I think it is the future but microsoft should mimic the pro x design instead.

@@joyahub I agree with everything you’re saying. I’ve been a Mac user since 2001. The last MacBook I had was a 2017 MacBook Pro and I would run windows through virtualisation.
I need windows and I like tablets so decided rather than have a £2,000 MacBook again I went for an M1 iPad Pro (I can do all sorts of video editing on that) and use a windows machine for work and Power Bi. The surface Pro cost me £1,000 iPad was £1,000.
Agree maybe not best performance to power but it suits my need. I like a clean / portable set up.
What would you recommend? Lenovo looks nice. I think I will always have at least one Apple machine though.
Ps. I think even M1 air has more power but if I run windows on it then it’s still the same as 8GB RAM as you have to share the memory across two operating systems.
Sorry for long response and appreciate your thoughts.

Im not sure what’s the pricing in UK but if I based it on microsoft site, a macbook air 24gb ram is similar in pricing with an i7 16gb surface (us pricing). If you dont need touch and pen and your apps can run in an arm environment. An emulated macbook air running windows will run circles on a surface. You can also use a surface pro 9 arm edition but again, a macbook air will in parallels will still be faster

@@joyahub £1,550 (but with 256GB Hard drive). Surface pro you can upgrade the hard drive yourself. It’s a close one. The surface pro 9 with 5G strangely just can’t do it. Macs run arm windows better than the SP9 5G. Very annoying.
Apple will release new M3 MacBook airs soon so may be then a MacBook Air + iPad comes to my £2,000 threshold (I need tablet functions) and I can sell the SP9.
      Thanks as always.
