  • Hiking and camping in the Cambrian Mountains in mid-Wales, UK. I had never heard of this area until my friend Dave suggested it as our next adventure, and it certainly has the feel of a hidden gem. It was a long walk just to get to them from parking in Llanidloes, hiking to Hafran forest and following first the River Severn and then the River Wye. Both rivers have their source in this range, and we went up by the source of the Wye and even camped next to it on our first night.
The weather was pretty warm for the most part, summer still not letting go in the valleys at least. It was a welcome change to get up the mountains and have some wind to take the edge off. We got some heavy rain overnight on the second night, but it was a good test of our gear on summit tops.
This was possibly my favourite wild camp that I have done. The area was stunning, both the forest and the mountain ranges. It seemed like a tantalising glimpse into the solitude of the ranges. We will be researching some more parts of the area to visit for more trips!
My trip was powered almost entirely by Huel, hot and savoury meals for dinner and Huel bars for snacks. If you are interested in trying then you can use my referral code for a discount on your first order:

Superb Bob end to end. I love the Cambrians and knew I was up for kicking back to this one. The approach in through the Hafron was great - nothing better than a mountain forest feel and all the water that resounds about the place. A first decent pitch - along the Nant Lago that and on the Sweet Lamb estate. The first time I pitched on that estate I got caught by the game keeper check out, ' 2 Wild Rivers 2 Days Backpacking. Plynlimon/Pimlimon Wales. Part 1' on my channel. Part 2 is cool to. It'll give you some ideas. Well, hand railing the Wye there - awesome. I hear you when you tell us how good the camp and mountains were and are. Hope to see you return. There are other videos on my channel in the Cambrians - hope you can watch a number. Well, I greatly enjoyed this. Good going. Subbed on account of the good vibes. All the best. Mark

Cheers for that. Honestly hadn't heard of the area, my mate heard about it on radio 2 saying it was a hidden gem. It really did just feel like a tease with the endless horizons of stunning scenery. Can't wait to go back and see some more.
Subbed to your channel, checked your trailer and looks some good videos. Certainly be interested to see you being moved on! So far never had that happen!

@@ramblebob1 A pleasure Bob. It was a good adventure. Yeah, been hiking here for some years - I just never tire of it. See you back out there - thanks for the sub. Hope to hear from you. As for getting caught I don't film it merely recount the story on sight where I'm camping. It's a good one though. Cheers dude. Peace.
