I set off walking in the wild Cambrian Mountains to see if I can find a place to wild camp for the night? The Cambrian Mountains are part of an area of Mid Wales which is notoriously boggy and can be difficult to walk across. I pick up the footpath for the Cambrian Way and get some amazing views of a lake with the mist and fog rolling into the hills. I walk past an abandoned cottage and another lake as the sun rises on this clear cold morning. Will I find a place to wild camp and will I wild camp in the Cambrian Mountains?

It's a lovely area though as you say there's a fair big of boggy moor - look for "waun" in the place names - means "wet moorland"! Farther south from Glaslyn is Pumlumon - sources of the Severn & Wye, decent walks there, and Pen Punlumon Fawr is a good hill with great views. Lovely drone footage. ATB Roger
Thanks Roger I just did n’t have enough time to explore the river sources and would love to next time. Sometimes you can only do what you can but I still enjoyed getting a glimpse of somewhere I’ve not really been before
Love Pumlumon as you know Roger. I trust you're well. Peace.
What a gorgeous area....
Love the scenery. You should read NOLS WINTER CAMPING to help you better prepare for the freezing conditions.
Thanks I’ll check it out
Richard, I can't believe you went on even that little wander with not even a basic kit. One slip or moment and you're there in the freezing cold with no protection. Take at least a survival bag, some snacks, a drink, a whistle and a torch. And some gloves lol.
I live on the edge occasionally 😆
The sencery is beautiful in its own way. Nice change of pace. Please prep more carefully for winter camping Richard. Conditions can deteriorate quickly.
Thanks Vince this was just a walk checking out area but yes don’t worry I do have good Winter kit and will test out more in next weeks video
A wise choice Richard to back to the cabin to be with Xiwang. Good luck to the 3 Lions tomorrow...if they overcome France they will win the World Cup!
Thanks Colin I’ll have to listen on the radio to tomorrow as will be out for a frosty maybe snowy camp
@@DayTripperAdventures It's all about how Walker copes with the threat of Mbappe. Have a great time on your camp. It is still 20c here, but we are getting rainy days as well. Xmas this year for me and mt son Tiger is in Benidorm!
Agreed but I could go either way on the night. I’d love to be Tenerife for Christmas but not this year. Have fun in Benidorm I do plan to visit there one day
I loved your walk through the mountains the wide open landscape makes you feel so peaceful and quiet small in the scream of things. The views were amazing at the top.
Thanks Marie it is a beautiful place
That’s a beautiful area! I live in the desert 🌵 haha!
Wales is beautiful
Nice drone action
Nice video Rich, a different feel to this one. Keep up the good work Bro.
Thanks Ian music sounded very Pink Floyd I thought it went well with the scenery
Fantastic upload my friend, landscapes here are beyond spectacular. Absolutely stunning work bud!
Thank you I hope I have more time their next time
👌
That was a no brainer for me 🤣🤣🤣 log cabin and log fire every time, nice video Richard
Thanks Steve seemed wrong to pay for a nice cabin then wild camp somewhere else for the night
I've camped on the ridge north of the first lake. Good flat and well drained. Although it is a bit exposed - as I found out when I caught the edge of one of those named storms. if you'd turned left where the Cambrian Way and Glyndwr's Way split you'd have found a lovely little spot down by the bridge.
Thank you. I’m sure I could have camped but I had little time and a log cabin with a wood burner this time so will have to camp next time
Where's your water, food, n emergency supplies ? Please be careful we all want to see many more of your spectacular adventures.
I was never more than 2 hours from the car so it was n’t that dangerous
Thanks for your concern though
Excellent can't wait for the video
Stunning area Richard 👍
Yes beautiful I want to explore more next time time was too short this trip
Most interesting video. Your decision to stay in the cabin was prudent. It looked too boggy, at that time of going there. I look for forward to your next visit in the Cambrian.
Thanks Neville it was a no brainier but there is always the excitement of maybe doing a camp in unknown places
Your videos are gettin better and better. Loved the music.
Thanks Linda it was a bit Pink Floyd ish which I thought suited this one for some unknown reason
Stunning , but please me sure you have some cold weather gear when exploring, it can change in a flash up that high,
Thanks David I was not worried as I was never more than 2 hours from the car on this one. But you are right you should take more than you need
Ah, you're in the Cambrians then Richard. Oh yeah through our own conversations and my videos you know it can be hiked and camped. Good to see you exploring it - they are a fave of mine but for 18 months now I have been injured. A right bugger otherwise I'd join you. Well, good going. Mark
Hi Mark - it was a brief stop otherwise I would have caught up with you again. We must do something next year when you are better 👍
@@DayTripperAdventures Hey, yeah worth a few hours though. Oh for sure would love to hike and camp and explore life. I'm getting there. Peace.
Beautiful area. Another great video 👍
Thanks Daryl yes so many beautiful places to visit in the UK not enough time to do it all
Sometimes being in the warm and looking out at a cold day is adventurous enough.
Agreed and also if there is no real need to camp that night then why do it
Camping or Cabin ?
Cabin, good choice.
😎❤️🇬🇧🎄👍
It was just too cosy to go out into the cold 👍❤️😄🇬🇧
Great drone shots and views, Richard! Disappointed you didn't get out there and make the most of it ☹
I thought that was #gregoryporter walking along there for a minute at the start of the video.
Sometimes you are only allowed out so long Tim 😆
@@DayTripperAdventures Hahaha, especially if we haven’t done the chores 😁
🖖
Enjoyed the video!
Thank you
Ay up buddy.
To be honest I don't blame you, lol. Still, least you got out for a bracing walk in the rugged beauty of Wales 👣👍🙂
Exactly Sog and also scouted out the land for next time
Of course you can canpnout there. If you can stealth camp in all the usual places you absolutely could camp anywhere.
Yes it’s a question of did I really want to when I had a cosy wood cabin with a log burner
Is England or Scotland?
Almost but this is Wales
