    Lol, I keep reading "it's overpriced" I looked at and drove a Tacoma trd pro, they wouldn't budge on 50k... all of the dealerships. My head hit the roof going over speed bumps, my legs are straight out like I'm driving a sports car and the transmission is garbage, jumping all over the place.
    I'm very happy with my Lariat, especially when at a stop light next to a Tacoma lol.

      @BabyKingBob Před 4 lety +5

      Just sold my 2013 Tacoma Pro and got a 2020 Lariat FX4 and man, do I hear ya haha. The Tacoma was a great vehicle for me, and that 4x4 got me out of some tricky situations (one particularly bad one was flooded out, muddy campsite in Tennessee -- stuck 4x4s everywhere and I slow crawled a camping trailer out of there navigating around stuck trucks), but if my Lariat drives in 4x4 even remotely as well as my Tacoma did, this truck is by far the better ride and worth the price.

      I agree. I have a bee 2019 tacoma. The transmission alone makes me want to trade it in ASAP, and I’m planning on it very soon. The new Tacoma’s are so bad right now I don’t k ow how there isnt a class action lawsuit against Toyota.

    • @panthersfan8494
      @panthersfan8494 Před 3 lety

      thats what I’ve heard about this gen of tacomas... transmission is just complete shit, obviously there is Toyota reliability and whatever but if you just want a solid truck I’d get the Ford Ranger or Chevy colorado/GMC Canyon

    • @pagodad2036
      @pagodad2036 Před 3 lety

      I had a 18 Colorado which had bad transmission/torque converter issues. Traded that in for a 20 Tacoma and it has a sluggish gear hunting transmission with awful brakes. Been thinking about the ranger or next gen frontier for my next ride. I just want a peppy smooth reliable fun to drive 4x4 truck that’s capable and delivers on interior space and a quality build all around.

    Went back and forth between the Ranger and the Colorado/Canyon. If I had unlimited funds, I would have gotten a 4WD Canyon with the diesel. I was trading an F-150 and Ford gave me the least for my 2 year old EcoBoost. I liked the twin turbos, I know many don’t, but it didn’t bother me on the Ranger.at the end of the search I wanted the Ranger, even though the engine was pretty noisy. 10 speed was awesome. I despise auto stop/start.
    Ended up with the Colorado as Chevy gave the best deal and gave me a lot more for that F-150.

No power sliding rear window, no power tail gate, no heated steering wheel, no split rear seat, no memory function in power driver seat, no moon roof. For the exact setup that this truck is running it will tow up to 7500 pounds when equipped with the Factory Trailer Tow Package and after market trailer brake controller where required by law. Ford's own documentation shows this. If the truck does not come with a trailer tow package and you are using what is called "Bumper Pull" where you mount a ball directly to the bumper it should not exceed 3500 pounds. No Google is not a throne of lies, nor is Luciano incorrect. What we have here is a misunderstanding of the vehicles tow ratings. A little additional reading of the vehicle documentation will show the correct information for this truck that you reviewed.Sources: 1. I own a new Ford Ranger after researching the capabilities of this platform extensively.2.www.ford.com/cmslibs/content/dam/brand_ford/en_us/brand/resources/general/pdf/guides/20Towing_Ford_Ranger_Oct15.pdf Hope this clears up the misunderstanding.

    The alternative to the raptor is to make the Ranger Raptor available in the US and price them a little more accordingly. You can get a Ranger Raptor over seas for around 10k US dollars less than a XLT 4x4 super crew with no leather and no bedliner. And the Raptor comes with all the options and a bedliner and leather seats. But for no other reason other than greed The raptor will remain ultra exclusive in the USA. F150 raptor cost as much as a Shelby or new corvette. Not to mention this Ranger is a 10 yr old design. Most fan boys think its great. I do like this Ranger, but to much asking price for what you get. The price they are asking on these 10 yrs old design rangers is the same reason why there will not be a Ranger Raptor in the US any time soon. Rest of the world has far better raptor access as ford puts it, than the USA does. Waiting to see if anything changes in the pricing and design on the 2021 model. Once Ford has gouged US consumers enough on these decade old rangers. Again. I like the truck and really want one. But the price for what it is is a no.

    I know this is old, but I just found it. The answer to the question posed in the title is no. It's not even a good alternative to a Raptor, if you're looking for Raptor looks, suspension or performance. It can be, though, given the right after-market parts.
    To make Ranger comparable to the Raptor would require long-travel suspension, wide body panels, the ability to run larger tires and a good tuner to work on the engine and transmission. All of which is available, in the aftermarket, but not from Ford in the US market.
    Comparing the skid plate on each as the basis for your thesis is simply...a bad analogy(almost said "stupid" there). That skid plate is part of the FX4 package on Ranger, as well as F-150, regardless the trim level. You could have compared the Ranger Lariat to the F-150 XL and reached the same conclusion, using that thought process.
    Also, maybe when you state specs, you should read the spec sheet from the manufacturer. I don't know where you got the 3,500 lb. towing capacity claim, but the towing cap, directly from Ford, is 7,500 lbs on all trim levels and all packages.
