Very accurate ability for Canada, a nation that has famously never stolen and settled land, much of which remains unceded to this day.

Wilfred's greatest strength is being able to utilize the part of the map nobody else wants. Even Russia would prefer to sit on the end of tundra instead of deep in it. This lets you be isolationist and take things a little slow in terms of settling cities because nobody is going to take the stuff near you.

You can one city challenge with most any civ with a temple of Artemis and this many camps.

yeah me too - it would have been nice to have an extra settler but that extra food/production paid off immediately by allowing me to just pump out units asap

I had a game where I met Kupe around turn ten and then by turn 15 a barb galley had stolen his settler and he was knocked out of the game.
That has to be the most Blursed start of a game.

I DID AFTERWARDS.
If you play Civ VI, you are contractually obligated to eliminate Kupe if he EVER shows intent to settle near you.
Even the AI thinks so, it's not uncommon for Kupe to be the first war target in the game because of it.
It's even funnier when his Settler gets stolen by barbs and he gets eliminated on turn 1 or something.

The fourth civ who often wants a builder very early on is the Inca. If he has good tiles for his Terrace Farms they can push his growth and production high enough to outpace two early cities with one large city with farms.

I'd say that going for an early builder as Inca is also good if you have a few decent terrace farm locations, that early growth is just insane.

The more I think about it, the less it makes sense to me that you just get a whole settler when you capture it. Would make more sense if it gave a builder and your nearest city one pop or something.
Camp Pantheon is underrated the tiles are so juicy, played a game were I got 8 or so camps and got TOA and it just ballooned into a ~200turn or so win on deity. Great editing as always!

I've only had 1 game where the AI played Kupe competently. Every single game he gets his settlers captured by barbarians.
yeah i lost on a culture win to a kupe science win because he conquered two!!! other civs and had 70%of his continent. I was flabbegasted
@@hurgcat That's because Kupe is beast and is S tier, but the AI just makes stupid decisions with him typically. But the AI sometimes gets super lucky.

In a different game with a different civ 2 weeks ago I had 4 Deer+hills+forest tiles in my capitol. Goddess of the Hunt was instrumental in building my giga-capitol. I was spamming settlers every 3 to 4 turns. You have made the correct decision.

From what I've seen while playing around with BBS and Canada, it's very difficult to get a bad start with canada, since to make the tiles on par with non-tundra tiles that all the other civs start with, it (i'm not sure whether it adds in resources or just filters locations) tends to give much more resources for camps, since on average your tiles would suck otherwise.

That iron is one of the reasons I try to get horses and bronze working as late as possible - especially with balanced starts some ressources might always be nearby :D

@5:32; let's not ignore the discovery of a further 5 deer tiles within capital city's reach. A few plantations nearby too.
What's often misunderstood about ToA; the city that builds it receives +1 amenity for each camp, plantation and pasture within 4 tiles - this is false.
When in reality, ToA provides bonus amenities, but those bonus amenities are distributed to each city in radius, that owns the tile with the
enhanced tile improvement, be camp, plantation or pasture.

I’ve been selecting goddess of the hunt a lot lately, so gooood early game. Something I’ve only discovered recently
its an A tier belief imo. Its always in consideration if i have more than two campable tiles.

oh those are added from..multiplayer helper i think? either multiplayer helper or better spectator mod, i can't remember which actually. BUT i never play with them, i actually have no idea what they do haha. sometimes the mod gets turned on automatically because its updated often for competitive Civ

Goddess of the Hunt with a bunch of deer in your cap seems to me to actually be better in the long run than the free settler

I mean, I'm fine with the extra gold so long as you don't use it to further abuse the hell out of the game (like using it to bankrupt and hamstring the AI, do anything further beyond that for future turns, etc), it's cool to see how you can utilize this. Just one question out of curiosty ı think the strongest pantheon and religion combo is adj bonuses like tundra+1 and work ethic. With this map tundra + work ethic would be phenomenal why did you not pic it?
mostly because i do those powerful pantheons in situations like this in like every game with a religion, and it was a fun little change to go this!

My biggest complaint about Canada has been that with tundra settlement you end up getting eaten be 5x barbarian camps. So what if they can't take your Capital, they can stand on every one of your Capitals tiles and there is nothing you can do about it.
I would have been mad if you took religious settlements over goddess of the hunt!
How was oracle still there at turn 70? In my emperor games it's usually gone at turn 55 at the latest
its usually between turn 40-70 for me; it really depends on what civs are in the game. in my suleiman game oracle was gone by turn like 40 something i think?

the exploits he's using couldnt be that hard to code out right? like... the ai should know that you are the one selling them horses or whatever, and if you were to try and buy them back, they'd be like "uhh no dude you just sold me these" the diplo exploit is harder to code out but i feel like the easy answer is make diplo valuable from the moment it starts ticking up, or have it come later when it really matters
As a Canadian, I'm thrilled that we finally got added to Civ. It's a really fun civ to play as, especially now that it's working as intended.
But yeah, Canada is SUPER Builder starved because Tundra tiles are so bad until improved.
It's even one of the few civs that actually wants to build Farms as much as possible because of how terrible growth is in Tundra without them.

if you go to the game options, i believe in interface there should be something called "Time of day" and I enabled mine

If you have trouble with the AI not improving luxuries with Monopoly mode on, there's a mod called "Fix AI Corporations" that fixes the problem without changing the gameplay at all. Not sure if they patched this problem with the new updates though.
Id love to see u try dwarf fortress or rimworld if u wanted to try branching to other games just letting u know, love ur civ stuff

Goddess of the hunt is better in this case than religious settlers. I think the 150+ turns with 9 extra food and production is worth more than skipping out a 7 turn settler.

I think this is one of the only situations where Religious settlement is only the third best pantheon.
Since you didn't pick the free settler panteon the game will punish you by not letting you have it for the next 100 games. But I do agree with your decision, it makes for a more entertaining game =)
