He was short circuiting because he knew Chewie deserved a damn medal too, but nobody's taking him seriously. And the growls from Chewie are him screaming about how the only individual in the building who gave a proper shite about him and his contributions (which include helping to rescue the woman putting medals on Han and Luke, by running through the halls of the fucking DEATHSTAR) was an antique R2 unit.
I also like to believe that Chewie is the reason Han turned around to join the battle. Han was being a jackass and Chewie argued with him that entire day about what a jackass Han was being, until Han, just to shut Chewie up and hopefully not pull his limbs off and chow down on them, pulled a giant 180.
Chewie is the most badass hero we've seen in Star Wars on the big screen. He doesn't use the Force. He uses a bow. A bow.

this needed to be done- in the scene there is no band there to play the triumphant theme. no speakers, either, and liam neeson never explains to us that midichlorians can project pre-recorded sound with ample bass end, so we can rule that out. in other words, this is more true to the actual event- The Awkward Award Ceremony that those reluctant, bizarrely-helmeted attendees undoubtedly laughed about for weeks afterward.

You know that this isn't the actual sound recording of the original scene from the set, right? This is a dub that some clever person made recently. The original sound recording had lot more noises and was way worse quality, and Peter Mayhew's voice wasn't as clear (he wore a mask) as in this video either. This is a made up dub showing how it could've sounded and felt like for the actors on the set when they filmed this scene.

Luke's jacket is much more noticeable without the music. Man, that piece is ON POINT.
I understand that this obviously points out the importance of the score, but to me, the acting stands out in this clip. It is remarkable how composed and in the moment they were. It would have been extremely difficult to do that scene in silence like that. Each expression was perfect down to the finest details. RIP Carrie and Peter-you will always be missed.

Ian Buck Go watch The Wire. I'm not trying to discount what you're saying, but Star Wars was a space opera for more than the original meaning. If you write a scene with music in mind, and have that scene follow the music in the same way that a music video follows music, taking away the music is going to ruin the scene. Music is a powerful tool but it isn't essential.

Funny story. I had a friend over and we were playing WoW while I had music playing in the background. Somehow this video started playing and I didn't even notice it as the sounds from the game were louder. That was until my character fell from a clif and at the exact moment he fell, chewie screams and the clapping starts. I was so confused at first and then I couldn't stop laughing afterwards.
That would've tripped me out for a moment, too. XD I'd be sitting there wondering if that scream / applause background effects had always happened upon my character's death and I'd just never noticed it, or if someone had somehow hacked and inserted that effect into the game to happen randomly. Questioning my memory and/or reality... until I noticed the vid and facepalmed.

I believe that first song is by Gustav Holst, and the scream for Chewbacca was from me watching the last Star Wars movie.
I wanted to know this, too. turns out it's Jupiter. Also see Venus, which sounds so much like the force theme.

Reminds me of my high school graduation. They were handing out minor awards no one really cares about and making students come up to the stage to receive them. They were calling them up by group depending on the award you won. However since I was the only one who won one particular award, I had to walk across the graduation hall alone and in dead silence.
