I 1000% agree! It’s my favourite of the Star Wars songs! When I watched the final movie Rise of Skywalker, when (spoiler alert) all the ships from across the galaxy come to fight together, I thought this song would have been the better choice (not the typical Skywalker theme). I think it would have added that ‘epic’ level that was needed for such a climactic scene. It’s a pity they don’t use this theme anywhere else.

@@nikoladelerue1000 They're probably one of the last remaining music snobs that think popular film scoring isn't serious music.
Once upon a time, the symphonic music world treated all film scoring like it was no better than Top 40s pop. I'm proud to say I'm a composer today because of Williams' music...the power of his themes and creative use of motifs is second to none, and I'm including Wagner in that universe...but as a theory/comp student in the 90s, that was something I absolutely COULD NOT admit to a professor if I wanted to be taken seriously. The guy who wrote the scores to blockbuster space operas? C'mon, kid, I thought you wanted to be a musician.
It's gotten better over time...the "serious" music world has loosed up their collective anuses over the course of the 00s and 10s, and Williams is starting to be seen as the man who defined an entire generation of Hollywood music the same way they view Stiner. In another 50 years, the Force Theme will be talked about same way people talk about the Beethoven 5th motif.
But there will always be those who want to think they're better than you because they listen to "smarter" music.

I had the pleasure of seeing Star Wars at the 70MM Coronet Theatre in San Francisco, the summer of 1977, one of the country's premier movie houses at the time and one of the few that had the then-revolutionary THX sound system. When Star Wars first opened, it wasn't a phenom for the first week or so(no social media back then)...and then the word got out and BOOM (I remember seeing the print ad prior to the opening and thinking it looked silly)! I was fresh out of college in the Bay Area and a buddy of mine called me, beside himself, about this AMAZING film he just saw! Could NOT stop raving about it. We waited a month to see it, and still had to stand in line for TWO showings to run before we got in. The crowds were insane. I have never experienced such anticipation in a theatre for a film to start. When the 20th Century Fox fanfare (which had been shortened and depleted of bass in recent years) came crashing forth in full dramatic length and deep sound, the place went nuts...only to be surpassed when Williams' masterpiece of a score erupted. The collective audience experience in the theatre that day for me has never been matched: wildly cheering but not unruly, and sustained applause and whoops of joy at the end. Great days of a cohesive populace loving life, long gone.

The music, the imagery, characters, story, the HEART, the sheer excitement, electricity and good energy that was in the air both in the cinema, and in the streets for this film across all ages was UNIQUE. My dad and I have this as a special moment. The generation that saw this film back in the 70's, when it was fresh were TRULY blessed and I will NEVER forget it!!!

I don’t think I’ve ever been more exhilarated playing music than when playing timpani (kettle drums) in this suite of music, ending with this particular piece in this CZcams clip - I can still drum this in my sleep, over thirty years later!!
