I am curious to the specific trumpets that were used to perform for this piece. The keys being on the side, similar to the horn. Amazing music, and my God, what an amazing orchestra! Thank you for uploading this video.
In a hundred years, John Williams' name will be mentioned in the same breath as those of Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Wagner, Tschaikowski, Verdi...
Realistically, he should be now.
He already is. Just like my name

No wonder, considering it is the Vienna Philarmonic, the most respected orchestra in the world.

@ISHANT AGARWAL No, the joke works with "expense" because that is Hammond's quote from Jurassic Park, and it ties in with John Williams looking a bit like Hammond.
@ISHANT AGARWAL My apologies.

30 years later, it remains as one of greatest films of all time and has one of John Williams' most iconic score.
Hello
You can tell when a film is great because they make loads of sequels that aren't half as good.
In 1993 I was 7 years old. On my birthay my parents took me to the cinema for "Jurassic Park". For me as a boy it was something amazing! Incredible! Now I'm 37... and I still love "Jurassic Park", especially for this beautiful, lovely melody. ❤
Similar age and this was my first movie at the cinema.
Pozdrowienia dla rodaka! :)
I was a bit older than you but have a very similar experience.
Me too. 😂 I am now 37
Yeah, me too! I was 6 years old when i first watched it and it became my favourite! Now I'm 36 and whenever I hear the main theme, it takes me back to 1993!
I'd have been bawling like a baby this entire concert.
I’m very fortunate that my parents always forced my brother and I as kids to go see John Williams when he would perform annually with the Los Angeles Phil Harmonic at the Hollywood Bowl. Looking back those concerts with my family will be some of the fondest memories I have had with my family. I know at some point he will have to stop composing and when that happens it will be a real loss. An absolute genius and arguably the most amazing composer of our lifetime.
I was watching this the whole time thinking the crowd looked so un-impressed and bored... then I saw the guy at 4.27 wiping away tears and thought yep that'd be me.
@@dean8525 Yep. Just saw him too. Good call. I would be crying too.

Most of these musicians were kids when Jurassic Park came out. Must be a hell of kid's dream come true.
They r in their 50's so no.
When you're a musician in the Vienna Philharmonic, your kid's dream were more like playing some Beethoven or Mozart in a big orchestra ;-)
John Williams themes are fantastic, but playing them is not really an achievement for this kind of musician.
@@brugges John Williams > Beethoven, Mozart change my mind
@@brugges They play Beethoven and Mozart all the time, but they were so giddy to play with John Williams who I think holds a stronger place in today's people's hearts. Just look at the violinist near the beginning of the Star Wars main theme. In fact, in an interview John Williams said the orchestra enthusiastically requested he add the Imperial March to the concert
@@brugges I’m a professional classical musician who grew up listening to John Williams - it’s a ton of fun to play his music! I love getting to play Star Wars every time it gets programmed.

At the end of this magnificent piece, notice his eyes as he guides his musicians and signals "the end" when he "flutters" his baton over his left shoulder. What a wonderful piece and you can just read his face when his musicians played every note of this masterpiece - just the way he envisioned it. Thanks you, Maestro. 💥
This theme gives me goosebumps every time.
Hello
Imagine being the French horn player at the beginning. Literally the most important intro lines to any soundtrack, all for you to play, by yourself, in front of the master composer who wrote it, all while he’s not even conducting you, just vibing to his own notes. I don’t think I could take that kind of pressure.
Believe me, he knows how to handle it, otherwise he wouldn't be there
Or being the trumpet player at 3:30
That lone French horn opening gives me goosebumps every time, it plays on its own and then everything else gradually and gently comes into play!
Dear fellow friend of John Williams' music,
this is an understandable mistake but he is not, in fact, a French horn player. He plays the Vienna horn, which is the horn of choice in the Vienna opera, the Vienna symphony, and the Vienna philharmonic. Unlike the French horn, the Vienna horn is not a double F/B type of horn. It is a single horn purely in F. The Vienna horn can be easily recognized by the extra double loop right after its mouthpiece.
@@maskoh6393 Really? That’s so interesting! Is it more difficult than a regular French horn? Do they always play this Vienna horn? Are any other instruments different in the VPO?
Sadly, most of the comments here don't recognize how insanely good the vienna philharmonic orchestra is. This level of perfection in nuance and timing can't be found anywhere else in the world.
I imagine it was immensely gratifying for Mr Williams to perform with them.
One day I will go. I don’t care what they play. Austrian Philharmonic is a bucket list item just waiting to be checked off.
I think long time fans of BPO, NYPO, CSO, LSO and other major orchestras will have major problem with your statement. I was fortunate enough to sit in Symphony Center listening to Mr. John Williams conducting CSO playing his own music in April 2019. So while I appreciate this VPO performance, I won't say this can't be found anywhere else on earth.
you have 5-6 other big orchestra's with the same quality. Like the Royal Opera London, London Symphony Orchestra,
Berliner Philharmoniker, Bayerisches Staatsorchester, etc. It depends on your personal taste, the head conductor and the management of this houses. Together the hire the musicians for the orchestra.
It like a football team, you need a good coach, manager and players then you can play at the highest level like 4-5 other teams.
I bet to differ. See "The President's Own" Band conducted by Mr. Williams on "March of 1941". Impeccable timing and unison. (This version is my favorite of Jurassic Park, however.
"When the Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth ". Even the musicians were smiling which playing as they enjoys it, Long live the Jurassic park!🎉🎉🎉

This is absolutely his best piece. Such a powerful theme - instead of going for scary monster movie he went for the majesty and nailed it completely.
It just hit me that of all his major blockbuster themes, this is closest to being a hymn in a church.
Oh yeah was it supposed to be creature slasher like Jaws or something? Because Jurassic Park became waaaaay more than that. Not French horn, but Vienna horn. They're different from French horns.
Played Double horn and Mellophone in middle/high school. I had never seen this instrument and had to google it. Viennese horn.
Yes omg it’s a less used part of the movie theme it seems but it’s sooo good
Wonderful
I am very happy that the "official" classical scene has accepted John Williams as one of them. He deserves it. That ability to create unforgettable music and to summarize the character of a film in eight bars... I feel utter admiration while listening to this music.
Rafael Gómez-Ruiz And it's more than fair. He's the Mozart of our times
More like German Grammophon accepted commercial Musik because Nobody is listening to classical music anymore.
@@simon-xr9pw Many of our favorite classical composers of old like Mozart wrote the music for many opera's which could be considered the movies of the era, so why should the film scores of today be treated any different?
@@NWA744 because Don Giovanni isnt about dinosaurs 😅 but seriously there is a lot of good Filmmusik and in Videogames too for example the orchestral Version of the castlevania soundtracks. But then if you compare it to Wagner or Chopin its like farting Cats 😅🤷 excuse my french 🐈💨

I'm incredibly jealous! What an amazing experience that must have been!
Omg soo lucky!!!! I would have LOVED that!!!! John Williams is phenomenal@

I feel as if this is almost like a majestic requiem to the dinosaurs. A musical homage to them.
This music is majestic and awe-inspiring and so were they, ruling the Earth for so many tens of millions of years.
Even though I realise that if they were still around we would not be here, part of me feels quite sad that we will never see the amazing sight of a pterosaur soaring across the sky or a stegosaurus plodding across a plain.
I really hope that somewhere out there in the vastness of space, there is another planet similar to Earth that *also* has dinosaurs on it right now. You never know - it might be unlikely but I think it's possible.
Just pet a cassowary, ostrich, emu etc they are descendants of dinosaurs.
Totally agree, if one were able to go back in time, this music would be perfect whilst watching the dinosaurs. It's such a shame that humans are now scourge of the earth.....

The solo french horn player is magic.
Vienna Horn. There are no french horns in the vienna philharmonic.
@@Kullioking Good one!
@@gregoryronnback2756 vienna Horns and french Horns are two diverent types of Horns.
@@Kullioking Agreed!
On the other hand, the so-called French horn was developed in Germany. There is a "French" horn that uses piston valves that was the favored instrument of Denis Brain until he moved to a single, B-flat, German made horn toward the end of his life.
I swear, I can be 90 years old on my deathbed and when I hear 0:47 I will INSTANTLY feel 9 years old again and being at the theater watching this for the first time. Anyone around my age that got to experience that knows what im talking about. You had never seen anything like this movie. The fact that the Special FX hold up nearly 30 years later is a testament to Spielberg and his magic. Even with those, this movie wouldn't be what it is without John Williams writing the most perfect soundtrack for it. Everything about this is amazing. Thank you for allowing me to listen and watch this for free at any time....
I was 10, and a trumpet player. I came out of the theater just stunned into silence that movies and soundtracks could be so powerful. This theme will always be my favorite!
Likewise brother.
Same here was a teenager and this film was supremely magical to watch it for the first time
Pretty much since I turned 30, I cannot make it past this note without tearing up. I’m sure some of it is nostalgia but I think Williams just really does some kind of musical alchemy there.
The conductor lookin like he wanna say,
"We spared no expense"😭🤣🤣😭😍
Except on security and the IT department.
@@tpsu129 ohhh sooo hilariously TRUE!!!!!🤣🤣😆😆😅😅😅🥲
If only I could see and listen to this in person. I come back to all these magical pieces every now and then and every time a wave of nostalgia hits. John Williams created masterpieces that will go down in history. His songs are just so iconic and they instantly transport you into the movies. I’m definitely getting my kids in the future to watch the movies and listen to his songs.
Me: I'm an adult now. I'm a man. I can handle this without nostalgic tears and crying like a baby....
John Williams: 0:46

Who the hell is cutting onions? 😅

Happy to know that I am not only one

Jurassic Park and its soundtrack are beautiful...You are Japanese!I love Japan is my favorite country🇯🇵🇯🇵
Your English is just fine, anyone who understands English watching this video knows exactly what you mean
My english isn't good too, but we don't have to care much about that, just speak right? This song is amazing, John Williams is a living legend!
@Purpy purps Oh thanks, it's so nice to hear these kind of words, are a you a native? If you're not, i appreciate in the same level
@Purpy purps Interesting, where are you from?
It must be such an amazing feeling for John Williams to see so many people come together to play and listen to his music in its own right - not just a Soundtrack.
This is not just a Song...its an Emotion ❤️😃
3:30 he literally took me back to my childhood memories ❤
Same here... Iconic part for this JP soundtrack
AMAZING
this was the part they looped in the area near the ride at Universal Studios Hollywood, even in the bathrooms lol
'Literally took you back'? Not figuratively? Thanks for clearing up that potential source of confusion. Idiot.

Happy retirement for John Williams and thank you for being part of my childhood!! 🥹
One of the most beautiful bits of music ever written. This song made me fall in love with music. I hated my piano lessons before that, but at seven years old I heard this and had to recreate it on the keys. Now thirty years later I am a professional music for keys and vocals.
Hello how are you
Let's count how many times shivers go down your spine while listening to this.
Just the right amount, as it should be
So many f*in times
Thousands!!
I lost the count around 130-131
So many key changes and themes packed into 6 minutes. A true eargasm.
John Williams looking like he “spared no expense”
Sacrifices ..Oh yes, so he has done many" Spared No Expenses' ..Absolutely not!" -Who do you think taught John Hammond that?" Hmmm.
yeah because he's like you use my music in your vid I TAKE DOWN VIDEO XD (he's still good tho)
Unlike John Hammond XD
Blessed be the work of this great man.
John Williams locks eyes with the conductor, and when he reopens before the first note is played, it is already John Hammond who says welcome to Jurassic Park. (The resemblance he bears to the actor who passed away is striking.)

Holy Moly! How can Jurassic Park sounds so elegant! Just look at the composer's facial expression at the beginning. I believed John Williams himself cannot imagine his music can be played so beautifully and artistically.
I clearly remember I went to the movie house twice, sitting at the front row, admiring this piece of music. Now with the nourishment from Vienna Philharmonic, the strings sounds so silky smooth, so elegant and so majestic. The performance no longer not sound like a music from a Hollywood movie, rather it becomes a "Golden hall-worthy" piece of music.
I was deeply moved with tears. Steven Spielberg and T Rex will be moved with tears if they were sitting in there and listening.
It's John Williams himself. The original was recordet with the lso and it is even better.
@@simon-xr9pw LSO is better and for a completionist like me, I do prefer the original. But this is John Williams we're talking about. Whatever group accompanies him being the conductor, the result will be that on the video.
@@simon-xr9pw I agree. The LSO played much better. I heard the this one a little "too elegant", but correct permormance.
Wow...What an incredible MASTERPIECE and one you would never tire of listening!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't think there is any movie music out there that is as iconic as John Williams music
Oh my god, how John just stood still and listened to the horn at the start. Absolutely magical.
"Do not disappoint me" look on his face.
I starting crying
“Let the Hunger Games begin”
I’d be so nervous
I know. That's magic, right there. That's love for music and the craft of performing. ❤️
Jurassic Park wouldn’t be the movie it is without this score. My goodness!!!
I feel like I'm 10 again, sitting in the theater with my parents and seeing Jurassic Park for the first time. Seeing fleshed-out, "live" dinosaurs for the first time that looked real, and just being overcome with wonder and amazement. I always get tears in my eyes just listening to the beautiful melody John Williams created. Even when he's gone, his timeless scores will live on in film and television like the Olympics.
This man is a legendary badass. I actually got to see him conducting all his movie compositions at a concert at the Hollywood Bowl in Southern California. I cant even tell you how amazing it was. The seats werent great, but just the memories of being there and witnessing it, it was truly brilliant. This man is a musical genius, WAY ahead of his time.
I could listen to this 100 fold and I wouldn’t ever get sick of it. That just goes to show the brilliance of John Williams.

Me too. Me too. ❤
From Jaws, Superman, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, , ET, Hook, and Jurassic Park, this man composed the scores to my entire childhood.
This music is pure magic for me. We can't see Dinosaurs roaming around today, but we can feel them with the genius of John Williams! Greatest film composer of All-time!!!!
Oh don’t you worry. Jack Horner is turning chickens into dinosaurs, we’ll see and feel them at the same time. Life finds a uh.. life finds a way
