BMW PRO Driver Bill Auberlen takes us around the track in the all-new BMW M4 xDrive all-wheel drive. The race track of choice today is the Thermal Club in Palm Springs, California.
Bill goes for a few hot laps while also chasing another BMW M4 xDrive, driven by BMW PRO Driver John Edwards. Both drivers demonstrate the capabilities of the all-wheel drive system in the new BMW M3 and M4, of course, with some drifting as well.
Is the BMW M4 xDrive a more fun car to drive than the M4 rear-wheel drive? Let's find out!

BMW M4 xDrive or rear-wheel drive?
M xDrive -- like mine
XDrive Baby😍
I want one with the xdrive because most of the track weekends I did got rain a lot. This would help me have more fun for the money I spend for track time.
Both
X Drive as you can use the power in all weather conditions 🏴👍🇬🇧👍
Agreed
How did the tires look after the track day? Ordered one for a track car but worried enough front camber can be dialed in with the xDrive.
They were beaten up by tons of pro drivers and journalists. So not a good comparison.
Is it easy to slide at low speeds? Can quite grasp the speeds the driver is doing?
It is quite easy, thanks to the M Drift mode.
I have another question, are those carbon fiber seats increase the rear leg room compare to regular seats?
Doesn't seem so
Of course.
Of course.
Rwd. None stop sliding. I feel like awd is going to be glued to street, like a M5.
Definitely more grip in xDrive. But you can also go rwd in the M xDrive
Whts the location ?
Thermal Club, Palm Springs
Hideous styling for all seasons terrain 😀 you go, G8🐽!
Xdrive let’s you drift?
You can send power to rear wheels only by drift mode
😂
