Walter being an asshole to his little brother actually makes sense to me. When something life changing is happening in your life and it's outside of your control most children do lash out if it be trouble in school , being more lethargic and cold, or even bullying some weaker than yourself. This gives them a sense of control back in their life.
His wish also made sense to me since a child wouldn't immediately think to get out of danger but would be selfish and want something for themselves. This is the best way to also show character growth since his second wish evolved into something selfless.

I'm personally okay with rehashing... _as long as you're making it better_ and not piggy-backing off people's affection for the film you're rehashing, for example "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" is almost a remake of "Conquest of the Planet of the Apes", it has a lot of similar plot points, but it's SO much better made and engaging.

I remember watching the special features, and it talked about how the whole house set was mounted on a giant mechanical arm setup, so whenever things were shaking around, they were shaking for real - also, every bit of destruction the house in the movie received actually happened to the set, so as filming went on, it just got more and more authentically wrecked-looking.

When my brother and I were younger we saw this in theaters. I was a huge scaredy cat all the wait until teenagehood, so I spent a lot of the movie with my eyes closed... but I remember vividly Harold’s reactions to his brother’s. My brother reacted the same way to most of my actions with me having the typical illogical brain of an overactive younger brother.
After the movie I remember my brother wrapping his arm around my shoulder- not verbal, as he had trouble expressing himself outside of anger, but I knew this had an effect on both of us.

During the sandwich scene he tells Walter “I had to fit in a worm hole this big” So Walter actually destroyed Older Walter’s timeline by not wising Danny away. The time issue between Walter being older and younger is called a “twin paradox” or “time paradox” in which the moment a decision is made two realities are created based on the outcome of the decision..
Meaning when he made the wish from the card it was one of two outcomes, if he wished for his brother never to be born he would be stuck within the game..
And if he wishes for the football the game continues to its end, looping back to before the younger brother pushes ‘start’ on the game..

God this movie was so good when I was a kid! Only OG's developed their Josh Hutcherson crush with this film and Bridge to Terabithia 🙏

This movie scared me when I was 5, but I loved it when I was like 9. I enjoyed it more than Jumanji as a kid. There was just a bit more happening, and the aliens as corny as they were looking back at it genuinely scared me as a kid. There was a real sense of danger and lil me enjoyed it

I always thought this was a sequel? Crazy that it’s deemed a “knockoff” even tho it’s made by the same author. But this movie was a true gem I remember being like 6 watching this with my sister, ngl we would do the same stuff but instead of paying for it I would pirate CD’s or just watch it on tv.

Give me the MMO adverts with the nice songs again, YT seems to take away the ones I actually like and sit through, but not when I dislike and sit through, nevermind skip.

On the one hand this film traumatized me and gave me nightmares for months.
On the other hand, I'm glad I'm not the only one who remembers this movie, mostly so that this pain can be inflicted on others.
