- In this video, I check out the SVS Subwoofer App and briefly go over the steps I take using the parametric EQ within the app to try and smooth out the frequency response of the PB-2000 Pro. While this video isn't meant to be a step-by-step guide to using a parametric EQ, I think there's enough information here to get you started. Thanks for watching! Don't forget to like and subscribe!

the fact that this didn’t go perfectly made this a much better video. most of us are going to experience the same thing when trying to eq and correct
How to make it right:
1st Room Gain is constant NEVER a bump - It works totally correct the way it is shown in your Video and is meant for sealed rooms when subs are corner placed and your are likely (very) close to the back wall
2nd Modes are visible in the heat map (click on spectrogram) or Waterfall by long decay times
3rd Hit your modes and don't guess where they are. The filter needs to be a perfectly inverted version of the mode :
Blick on the button "EQ" then Modal analysis > "find resonances" > search for the loudest ones below in the list (You can find them in the pole/zero plot, too), open the tab in which you can simulate an EQ (EQ filters).
select filter type modal type in the center frequency and T60 Target. Check if there are overlapping modes in close to each other. Then they need to be aligned.
Reduce gain until Mode is smoothed out
It will help to t setup target setting (Subwoofer):
Typically roomgain (LF rise) of +2.0-2.5 db/octave from Start 180-200Hz end 63hz. Activate lowpass if it is applied to your measurement. Hit "calculate target level"
Read values on "EQ filters" and type them into SVS app.
Note Keep away from nulls this makes everything worse and may damage you woofer
Redo measurement & be happy with impulse response acurate responses :-)
Hope that helps & have fun calibrating
Thank you Rubin for the detailed information in your comment. I researched everything you reference and found the modal filters you mentioned. Even though I had to build the modal filter myself (novice level REW filter builder lol) I followed REW HELP suggestions and matched the filter to the mode shape. I don’t know if the SVS app is capable of using the mode filter as I do not have a SVS sub, but I successfully used it in the miniDSP2x4HD.
Due to your highly informative videos my home theater sounds wonderful for both movies and two channel audio. Thank you!
thank you I played around before watching this video and I screwed it up I had less bass, after watching this my svs pb3000 has come alive again thank you.
Excellent video, clarified quite a few things for me. Thanks
Thank-you. I just got my SVS PB2000 Pro, and I had no clue what that eq done. Still don't understand anything about it but watching this kinda explained........ kinda
I have the micro 3000 and im still learning about these settings.
I personally, although I don't understand a thing about Audio calibration, think your videos are very well done.
Your Chanelle is very underrated...lol Good stuff man keep it coming.
Thankyou sir for this information
PB-1000 Pro is out in the wild! My wife is gonna hate it...
@ Home Theater Gamer Hey Brad, was great to see you on the SVS Happy Hour last night. Thanks for all of the info!
Thanks so much for joining! Glad to hear you had a great time.
@@HomeTheaterGamer Brad, I've been watching you for a little while and I hope someday I can get the income source to be able to afford gear like yours. Life is pretty tough for far too many folks these days. Take care and all the best. Kevin
@@welderfixer thanks for the comment. My system is more low to mid tier than many others, but I work with what I have and can afford. I try to get the absolute most out of the equipment I have, which is part of the reason I started this channel. I love helping people get the most out of what they have or can afford.
Most of the products I have reviewed on this channel have been loaners from companies that I've contacted or have contacted me; I get to play around with them for a couple months then have to send them back. I'm still rocking my Pioneer Andrew Jones speakers in between reviewing other speakers.
@@HomeTheaterGamer Hey Brad, I think there is far more families, like you and I, are out here trying very hard to get the best from their current gear than we think. Watching the "big Guys" show off $5000 pre/pros and $4000 amps is nice, but the rich people who can easily afford that kind of gear surely looks down their noses at guys like me.
My 70" TV, old Denon AVR-591 and my old 50 watt sub were rescued from the recycle center. I have been so very fortunate to have bought new Polk second tier LCR fronts and a new Emotiva 8" 200 watt sub. Thanks again for all of your CZcams efforts. You make nice clear and at times amusing content. Please keep it up.
I have my PB1kP, not having auto room correction in the app is frustrating to say the least. And my wife kinda hates it LOL. I commented about the auto correct in the 3000 Micro live launch video. They are looking into it. It would be amazing if SVS were able to partner with REW to do what ELAC is doing with their auto correct, except MUCH MUCH better! Can you say “exclusive” partners???? That would be great!
I wish this were compatible with my svs. My sub is from the late 2000s. Would love to tweak my sub setup. Maybe when I add another one down the road.
Hey, I currently a brand new SVS PB-2000 PRO. I've tried messing with this and I have no clue what I'm doing. Hopefully my inexperience with all the settings is the issue bc I currently felt better bass with my old Polk Audio Signature Series S55 sub. And I know that can't possible by right, right? I do plan to have dual 2000pb pros soon, but I need major help with all settings. Thanks in advance
I have a SVS PB-2000 pro, do I need to keep auto correct on or off on the sub??
Do you EQ multiple subs separately?
Hello, great video. What all do i need to to do this and measure my room? A mic and REW? Can i do this without buying a mini DSP or something like that?
To measure, yes. All you need is a microphone (ex. Umik1) and software (ex. Room EQ Wizard)
If you want to EQ, you need whatever device that can run EQ (subwoofer, AVR, miniDSP, etc.).
Great video. How do I PEQ a dual PB3000 set up in my room?
I'd definitely recommend using REW to fine tune each sub individually, then turn them both on and make sure they are in phase with each other. That will go a long way in getting the most out of your subs.
I am so confused as to how to adjust this parametric eq within the app, how do I even begin?
Where do I start, how can I learn what settings are good, why they are good how to figure out what my subs are doing and how to correct them?
what am I looking for? in terms of roll offs spikes, dips etc.. I want to learn more about how the eq can help and be effective as a tool in balancing my subs.
I am running dual PB-1000 Pro subs in a 12 x 25 room as part of a 7.2.4 system.
please have a test with PB1000 PRO please
Denon 's xt32 doesnt correct room issues?
Not enough... Got antimode s-2. Still issues...
do you think it would be possible to listen to sweeps and demo bass tracks until you get it fitting your ear correctly then save the preset? and then tune it to a different style track. or do you think its a lost cause, just get a mic to measure it?
also: "SB-1000 Pro also features the SVS subwoofer smartphone app, the most convenient way to control volume, access multiple DSP functions, and program custom presets. Adjust crossover frequencies, a three-band parametric EQ, polarity, room gain and more, all from your favorite seat."
the 1000 has it as well. not just the 2000 and up
😍
Pls also post a video of sub performance before and after the settings
will the PB2000 Pro be much better than te PB1000 in a small room (3,5 x 3,8 m), even on lower volume? What difference will I notice between the two subs? Thanks in advance!
I bought a pb 2000 pro for a room 11ft x 12 ft x 8 ft. Sounded amazing, bought a second and that deep impactfull bass has gone. I just don't know why 🙄
@@jasonh8467 maybe change the phase on the second sub?
@@Mike_v_E phase goes from 0 to 180, any advice on setting for this is it 0 for 1 sub, 180 for the other?
@@jasonh8467 try that, if it doesn’t work maybe you can try a different phase
If you cant use phase. You can trick it with the distance adjustment. Basically just inch it lower a little by little.
Hi, I have one PB-3000 and SB-2000 subs in my home theatre. Since Parametric equaliser is three band. How to customise it to get better base response in the room? The room size is 14x21 square feet
Unfortunately, there’s no way of knowing without using REW to take measurements. Every room is different. You can’t and really shouldn’t make these adjustments by ear.
You should take more measurements from different locations then correct the average plot. The big issue is with dips caused by room modes. You'll need dual subs and time control to correct a room mode.
A better option is to get a processor with Dirac Live Bass control with dual subs.
I have the sb2000 pro and I just cannot get it to give me good bass it's tight but not deep enough and hard enough for me.
Go to volume level and make sure your sub is set at 0 not at -12. Then on the svs app you can bump up the volume to -9 or -8. The louder you play thw harder it will hit.
Ran into this with my SVS SB16. Best was around -4 to -6 on TRIM/ LEVEL within AVR. Next go to your SVS APP and go into PARAMETRIC EQ. The best bass I had was with EQ set at FREQ:60, BOOST: 3db, Q FACTOR: 1.3 (slope). Start with this and adjust the BOOST up or down to your likings. This gave me what I was missing after 3 months of use. Hopefully this helps!!
@@joshuaalvarez9796 Wow! This really helped me out. Gave me nice deep round, but not boomy bass. Thanks!
what about lowpass filter?
now i know what the hell i'm doing hahaha
6:38🤣🤣🤣🤣 what a fate
Really no improvement from the EQ. Good to know.
