    Hi Mr. Youthman I really enjoy your very informative videos & blogs. I recently purchased an SVS SB-4K Subwoofer in early Jan. 2023. I absolutely love this sub & I'm very happy with it. Your video on the SVS App has been so helpful to me. My current Audio & Home Theater System consist of: Martin Logan Aries i ESL & Cinema for the front LCR. My surrounds are also Martin Logan ESL's. I recently picked up a pair of SVS Prime Elevation Atmos speakers which I haven't configured yet. For processing I'm using an Anthem AVM-70 8K, Anthem MCA 325 Gen. -2, & a Parasound A52+. I'm hoping to get everything up & running. Please feel free to share your thoughts & advice. Thank you for your help & instructions. 👍🏽

    Hi there Youthman. Thanks for the in-depth look at this app. I am considering using this sub to mix professional audio with a pair of powered studio monitors. Do you know if the outputs on this sub send a high pass signal at the same frequency and slope you set for the low pass of the sub? Also, is there a way within the app to switch off the sub and have a full-range signal sent to the main speakers? This is helpful to be able to d when mixing audio with a subwoofer. Thanks!

      I remember when I upgraded from my first sub... a Velodyne CT-100 (10" with 100 watt amp) to a Velodyne F-1500 (15" with 250 watt amp). I was like WHOAH!!!! Soooo much more bottom end and tactile feeling. I was hooked on larger subs and have never looked back. Went from the F-1500 to a Velodyne HGS15 (15" with 1250 watt amp), then Dual HGS15's, then sold them after buying a Klipsch RSW-15 and now I have (4) Klipsch RSW-15's. LOL

    As i'm not physically able to get to the sub to manually turn it on or off. For the sake of my family, I'm unable to use the sub most of the time but still want to use my A/V system so my question is , using the app, could I put the sub into standby mode or switch it off then on again via the app? If this isn't possible with the SVS subs and I'm considering buying the 3000 Micro, do you know any other brands musical but also good for movies sub that has this ability via app control, or can you turn these on or off with the included remote? (Urgh, I see no power on/off for the SVS remote control) Otherwise, could I disable the sub via a receiver/amp though I don't want the sub running all the time whether I'm listening or not as that would be terrible for my electricity bill.

    • @Youthman
      @Youthman  Před 6 lety

      Thanks Hugh! I thought I replied to your comment but I'm not seeing it now so I'll reply again.
      The SVS Ultras are fantastic speakers, especially at the $2000 range. The only other speaker that I have heard in that price range that my ears prefer more than them are the Klipsch RF-7 II. They are also $2000 / pair. The SVS Ultras are a great sounding speaker. As long as you feed them clean power, they sound beautiful, can crank really loud without distortion and have a lot of bottom end, especially with only having dual 8" woofers.
      I have not done a direct side by side A/B comparison between the two speakers but from what I have heard from the SVS Ultras, I'm pretty sure the RF-7 II have a bit more bottom end, and have a larger sound stage. Honestly, you can't go wrong with either speaker.
      Of course the best option is to see if you can hear them side by side or at least go and demo them somewhere but that isn't always an option.
      If you do decide to purchase the Ultras, the RF-7 II or the SB-16's, if you use one of my affiliate links below, I will receive a small commission which helps me continue to provide content on this channel.

      Thanks George. I spent the entire week shooting, editing and a TON of troubleshooting for this video as the videos from the screen recording kept messing up so I haven't had much time this week to sit down and spend some quality time with them. I should be able to do some more listening this week.
      So far, I'm REALLY liking what I'm hearing. I love my (4) Klipsch RSW-15's but they are 15 years old. No telling how long the amps will last and I REALLY love the features of the SB-16. They have a ton of slam and dig deeper than my Klipsch subs. They say the PB-16 Ultra has more output but the PB blows too much air and since they will need to go behind my 150" Acoustic Transparent Screen, that wouldn't be a good idea as it would turn my screen into a sail. LOL

      Just a cheap $200 sub. It's decent at 30 Hz and above. But it falls off so fast below 30.

    Thanks so much for the video as it was definitely one of the best I’ve seen so far explaining the app and it’s functions. I have a couple of questions though, the first being, I have the SVS 3000 non-ported which I just received yesterday and I’ve run the calibration in the room using (calibration- 4) my Yamaha receiver and what I noticed was it didn’t really start to pick up heart pounding bass unless I used my receiver to give me a +3 DB. The second question I have is, related to room size and cubic feet. My room is approximately 20 feet wide by 25 feet long and is an open concept so I’m not entirely sure if the sub is just not pressurizing but it’s in a living room so I’m trying to find a happy balance with cosmetics versus sound I can’t include another sub into the living room it’s too much. Just wondering what your thoughts might be on having a plus DB instead of running it at a negative as I know the app only goes to zero so I’m using my receiver again to boost the sub to +3.

    • @Youthman
      @Youthman  Před 2 lety

      You definitely have a large room so a single 12” sealed sub may not be enough. You could also be sitting in a null. Try walking around the room and see if you get better bass response. Either do the sub crawl or use REW and a UMIK-1 to find the optimal sub position in your room

    With the svs app, the app takes over my phone backward arrow and instead displays it own arrow pointing downward. Tapping the svs app arrow means I keep going over and over into the app when I only want to shut down the app by exiting after saving my preferences. Again, please how do you exit the app please? BTW my subwoofer is the sb3000 and I'm in London. Thanks in advance bro..

    I wish there was an option to mute the sub. I am using two micro 3000 and at night I'd like to disable the subs without need to go and physically flip the switch on the back of each sub.

    Is the default-10 level mean 50% of the subwoofer gain volume? I am having difficulty understanding to set 50% gain for calibration. Mine is a AVR-X2700

    • @Youthman
      @Youthman  Před 2 lety

      Most subwoofers have a gain knob. With SVS, it’s digital so I would set it to -10dB on the sub and run Audyssey. Audyssey will let you know if the gain needs to be adjusted before running calibration.

      Thank you for your prompt response.
      Actually, ours is a new two week old SVS PB1000 Pro! Complete with acoustically treated theater room having dimensions of 16x12x9 feet!
      Yesterday, I reran Audyssey, this time with close measurement points near our seating area. Subwoofer position unchanged and is still cornered at the left frontal corner with about 8 inches away from the side wall.
      Read SVS tutorials from website and our PB1000 Pro sub instructions card. Set -15 on the Subwoofer volume before the Calibration. After completion, the AVR set Subwoofer level at -8.5db.
      Finally, I set it at -8 (for movies only) on the Subwoofer volume and -6.0db on the AVR Subwoofer trim level. Dynamic EQ is ON, set to reference 0db. Dynamic volume OFF
      It sounds great and cohesive right off the bat! I would settle for this, unless there's something off that I am not aware about. Also, would choosing 0-98 type volume display cause any changes to the sound, it's just easier for me to comprehend the volume control.
      Please advise.

    Hey Michael, how are you? I’ve been looking at the SVS subs. I currently have 2 pair of Klipsch subs in my HT (12” in front, and 10” in the rear) I’m going to replace my living room subs with the 10” Klipsch, than replace them with the 12” Klipsch, than purchase a pair of the SVS 12” PB 1000 Pro to replace the 12” Klipsch. I want an overall better sound! What do you think?

    • @Youthman
      @Youthman  Před 6 lety

      After I review the SB-16, SVS is going to send me a PB-16 to compare directly. I haven't heard them myself but it seems everyone on my channel is asking why I didn't go with the PB since it hits harder and digs deeper. If I like the SB-16 better than my Klipsch RSW-15's, I will buy them and put them behind my 150" Acoustic Transparent screen. The PB-16 blows too much air so I'm afraid if I put a pair of PB-16's behind the screen, my screen would turn into a sail. Haha
      If you do decide on purchasing either the PB or SB and use one of the links below, I will receive a small commission from SVS which greatly helps me provide more content on this channel.

I bought a Yamaha RX-A2070 in August of 2017....power section has a short in it, so I'm using it as a pre-amp with power amp being a brand new Parasound A51 with no problems. So, yes, I want a new pre-amp......I am looking....Thanks, Steve

      I don't have much confidence in Yamaha anymore but...have been a musician for many yrs...even played the Grand Ole Opre a couple of times, retired now but country was not my type of music.. I am from Louisiana. Anyway, I always believed in JBL and Crown...have a PA system with JBL system with 20,000 watts on tap but that is for outside with bands. I just don't know what preamp to get for A/V in home ...have been thinking of Marantz 7704...just thinking.......everything is changing so fast......Have older Polks LS90 for left and right...center is CS350 LS ...all rated for 250 watts....rears are f/x 1000 rated for 500 watts....again Polks...just talking, my room is not setup for theatre.....but still sounds good. Oh, sub is SVS pb16 and use Furman surge protectors PL-PLUS DMC. Just curious to see what you come up with for an A/V pre-amp. Thanks Steve

      The only Yamaha ever owned was a Yamaha RXV-1800. It was a great receiver for movies for a 5.1 set up but once I went to 7.1 set up it ran out of gas. Later I found it’s because when you add seven speakers it drops down to the measly 55 W per channel and it was very underwhelming. I have always liked the sound of Harman Kardon For music with my Klipsch And even tried one for home theater but it was OK and now Harmon does not make Home theater receiver’s. I switched from it to my current Onkyo just because I got an incredible deal on a lot of audio gear and ended up keeping it for free after selling off the things I did not want. It was originally a $2600 flagship receiver. So now I like you I’m trying to figure out what direction I want to go. I definitely have heard great things about my rants and have tried to reach out with him several times but I’m finding a lot of these bigger companies are hard to get in touch with somebody to see about reviewing their product. I’ll reach out to them again and see if I can get one of their pre-pros or receivers to review

    If you have it on your phone and tablet you will only have issues connecting

    SVS you have to update your app to allow linking of multiple subwoofers to change settings simultaneously. It's annoying to tune a room with multiple subwoofers changing the settings one by one!

    • @kilgoretrout4461
      @kilgoretrout4461 Před 2 lety

      You likely wouldn’t be putting the same settings on each sub though. You’d want to calibrate them separately so that each was calibrated correctly. You’d have a 99.99% chance they would be different.
