Thank you! I have only just discovered your channel. I have been resistant to making an ancestral altar a part of my spiritual practise, because I came from a very troubled and unhappy family. However, I’m thinking about it more now. Is it possible to have an ancestral altar, when we don’t necessarily want to connect with, or even remember, certain recent ancestors who have passed? Can we pick and choose who we honour there? As I would want it to be a healing practise, and not one that just drags up painful memories and relationships. There are also certain people I definitely would not want to ‘invite’ back into my home or life! I would love to know your thoughts on those issues.. 🙏🏼

Yes. Like any relationship, you have the right to set boundaries. An altar is a home. Invite who you wish.
Working with your ancestors can bring immense healing that extends both ways on your family line.
Im always surprised what comes out of my time at the altar.

Like she said you can choose who is allowed in at all and who can be there on a limited basis and those who have full access to you if you wish because they were loving and wonderful humans to you and others, a joy to be around.
I too have some villain's and some so-so ones and others that come through and get my attention as I go about my day or week and they make me smile. You can also put things on their for non blood relations who had a profound influence on you in your life. This is one place you get to choose who is in your family.
The advanced work is for clearing the bloodlines so that the more awful parts and the ones who did them are cleared out of your family line into the future so none of those awful things are taken into future generations to happen again. This is especially important and you can send the good stories into the future with your kids after letting them also know why some things are not acceptable to keep close to you anymore. Does not mean you change history but you change what you pass on as good for the ones you love to hold dear. But it is Your altar to have relations with your revered mighty dead and blood ancestors.
If you had toxics in your life you can change the future by excluding those from being remembered.
