If only that uncle had shut up, we could have found out if Maleagar would have lived forever with the firewood untouched
The sexiest idiot should have minded his own business Maleagar was the one that slew the animal and had every right to give it to whoever he wanted to.
That's the beauty of fate, can't do away with it
You spelled his name wrong
“When the wood in the fireplace stops burning your son shall perish”
Mother- Immediately puts out the fire
That part confuse me too???
It means that if the log completely burns out, (not the fire) the son will die. So, in order to prevent her son from dying she stopped the fire and hid the log.
It's all about the phrasing.
@@bjgoodrich5864 I've generally hear the prophecy phrased 'his life will last no longer than that log burning in the hearth' i.e. as soon as that log is consumed by the fire, he will die.
@@ashbee350 I know right!
the dude tried to win the heart of his' crush, killed his' sexist uncle and was then killed because of that, poor Meleager...
He had every right to give the head as a gift to whoever he chooses, and I agree the uncle was being a real A$$. But killing your family instead of talking first was too far, especially for a girl you just met.
@Wolf Frame showing prejudice among a gender.
@@blacBroly2 In ancient greece it's normal.
@Maria Rai my point is morality standards were far lower back then.
@@croonie17 it really depended on the city-state, Greece wasn't an homogenous culture, just look at the way women in Sparta were treated vs women in Athens. Also, the myth implies that the uncle and the other men that treated Atalanta that way were wrong, so that implies that to the author sexism was wrong
This channel legitimately makes me super fascinated about mythologies
Check out overly sarcastic productions
Moustache man's here
I am still waiting for a heroic spirit version Meleager in the Fate Franchise. We already got two versions of Atalanta and other prominent members of the Argonauts.
You'll love it here
You again 😭
The ending was so sad
Now that you talked a bit about Atalanta, can you make a video about her? She is an amazing character in mythology.
Atalanta! My favourite! Thank you a thousand times!
Sometimes you don’t have to impress a lady to earn her affection it takes time
1st time hearing of meleagar.....greek stories are just amazing
It's always a treat when I find a myth that I haven't heard of yet.
@@dragonarchive7443 me too...I feel these stories aren't talked about enough...I'm the only one out of all my friends and family who knows this stuff
Man i remember reading about this in a book of myths YEARS ago, but could not remember the entire story. Thank you for posting this I was wanting to find this story again for a long time!
I had no idea this was posted six minutes ago and honestly wondered where all the comments where.
I see where he got his impulsive from...his crazy mom. She didn't even know the whole story and shes killing her son!
The whole story doesn't make it much better either... But anyways both the mother and her son were crazy lol
That giant boar was probably a real prehistoric animal, maybe they encounter entelodont.
Uncle: makes sexist remark
Maleager: so you have chosen death
His voice is so fascinating 😍 you should have your own channel in which you should read interesting story, stuff like that.😃
Overall this channel is amazing 👍
Don’t forget the part about how Atalanta is a badass warrior woman raised by bears
One of my favourite myths.💯🔥
One beautiful ancient Greek myth, that could have become a movie....I wish it could.... Although it didn't happen that way.According to the myth,Meleager died after being hit by an arrow, during a battle between Curetes and Calydonians. When the wood of his mother Althea got burnt, her son got hit,and died....
no Atalanta cat ears 0/10
really though great vid. hard to find channels that just deliver on the fantasy of a myth quite as well as this one. (discounting OSP)
Boar fangs? Try tusks 🧐
Tbh, killing your uncle over overt sexism is a super overreaction. Like. Just take the boar head when the uncles aren’t looking and give it to Atalanta when she’s about to leave, and apologize for his uncle’s rudeness.
Hi this is amazing I love this channel I love Greek mythology 😁
If your first language is French or you are learning French please check "l'histoire et mythologie en bd" too.I'm sure you'll like it.
Je suis abonnée aux 2 chaînes car j'aime bien les 2 narrateurs 😊
So Mom keeps this piece of firewood around, "just in case?" Then uses it?! Gotta love Greek Tragedy!
Awesome Mythology! 🙂❤👍
Thank you see u in history for video 💯💯💯💯💯
If his uncle hadn’t opened his big mouth he wouldn’t be dead and the ending was so tragic
every tale has a few different meanings and lessons behind it.... however this one has always been a struggle for me..... at first I thought the lesson may have been " the mother trying to stop fate .... but fate is destined from the beginning "...... but other lessons just don't seem to add up here... like we could assume that being prideful or boasting is bad... but there isn't enough story line focus on the trophy at all.... so im still rather lost within any meaning here at all...
In my opinion, is that there´s a reason for a fate.
Like, by trying to defy the fate, the queen was actually made it worse. If her baby died that night, she would grieve but it was only the baby who died. But by trying to keep him alive, four persons ended up died and she died in extreme agony knowing that her son could commit such terrible act.
Nice upload 👍👍
Can't believe this channel grew so much❤
This channel is
*INTERESTING*
Good video👍🏻
hat a lot of people don't realize is that the Greeks didn't believe myths were literal so when the Gods make a "Mistake" it's not the Gods themselves committing these acts but rather just stories. If you'd like to know how the Greeks acutely felt and saw their Gods I'd be more than happy to help anyone understand the true nature of the Theio
I'd like to, where should I contact you?
Mum should have summoned Melgar to question him instead of assuming Melegar was badly-behaving
I guess this is what happens when you break the old adage of "blood is thicker than water"?
You make intersting videos. I like most of the videos you make, keep it upp.
Can you do the story of creation and mesopotamian mythology
Strong he is
Hey, can you make a video about Tiamat?
Best channel for mythology stories and his artwork is also beautiful and unique.
Can’t argue with the Moirai, for they can see the past, present and future.
(Indoor plumbing. It’s gonna be big.)
Can you do kagutsuchi the god of fire please?
Can you please talk about the Titan Selene????
I’ve never heard of this story but I can’t wait to find out
If a hunter delivered the head of an animal to me as a gift, I’d be disgusted. In fact I think I would have nightmares.
so the lesson learned is that thou shall not simp
So very sad ending story 😔
Does anyone know the song? I swear I’ve heard it before.
Thanks to informational myths videos like this one do not need to buy any more comics on greek or any other myth
You should do one on Atalanta's death.
She didn't really die, she was turned into a lioness
Are there actual comics??
I realized that you don't share any videos about the seven against thebes, please consider it ❤
Boars have tusks not fangs. Sorry to be a nitpick
Ah yeah, Atalanta, the best Greek girl
Every love story tragedy😂
Why does this sound familiar …. Frank that it frank 0:20
Sounds a bit like the story of nornagast
There's a price for simping ✔
Greek stories all have a common theme; its wrong to react impulsively. Why would Meleager's mother commit the very same crime her son just did? How is that restoring honor?
Hello!
I just feel sorry for the boar
The Moira? Isn’t that Irish folklore? What are they doing in Greece?
What a sad ending.
I feel so bad for the animal
the drawing?
Wasn't this Frank's origin story?
This where Riordan got it from.
I can do voice over translation from English to Arabic.
Was pretty rotten what they did to her . Not worth killing 2 guys over it .
{ I know i shouldn't have an immature mind } at 1:08 the name mentioned after "Jason" sounds like an other word for poo. { Cepheus } 🤭👂💩
Ok
Atlanta Is Hem Gorgo
Frank is that you
This reminds me that uncles are evil bastards
The mother deserved her fate
boars have tusks not fang
Doesn't anything good happen to these people
사랑과 분노
2nd place
I don't get it. Is Hades a place of eternal gloom & torture? Did all people when they died go to Hades and stay there eternally in a kingdom of never ending darkness?
@Κρις Κρος ok. Now I get it
Anyone who thinks of Frank?
He looks like Ben Askren
Technically melergera killed his uncles and his mother killed him soooooo yeah
No beard & oldguy
😭😭
.
32nd
Meleager was the first simp, change my mind...
Are you sure about the 'first' part?
how do you guys even get girlfriends at this point? 😭
Harsh.
First male feminist
Bruh even greeks out here making tragic anime stories
*Tokyo ghoul music in the background waiting to be heard*
Meleager Is Hercules/Heracles
What a dumb story
The main lesson of this story is... BROMANCE OVER ROMANCE.
