*Fun fact:* Despite her infamous role in Perseus' story, Medusa still had an important fame in greco-roman culture. In fact, roman emperors had the face of the creature carved on their armor as a way to ward off evil spirits. For example, one of Domitian's busts depicts the emperor with the head of Medusa decorating his chest.

Perseus seems to be one of the few good Greek heroes. While yes, Medusa is tragic, he didn't know about her backstory, and only knew she was a monster terrorizing people. Everytime someone is in trouble, like his mother or Andromeda, he stepped in to try and save them. Personally my favorite Greek hero, and great video

    • @firxanza5172

it all started with a prophecy that caused Danae's father to imprison her, so that she would never bear the son that would cause his death, however, the old king overlooked the fact that the prophecy never said the son had to be fully mortal, Zeus fell in love with Danae and turned into a shower of gold, he entered her prison cell and courted her, Danae became pregnant and gave birth to Perseus, when Danae's father found out, he was so enraged that he locked the mother and son inside a coffin and tossed them into sea, but Zeus arranged things with Poseidon, so the coffin did not sink, instead, it reached shore safely
Perseus would then grow up and be given the mission to take Medusa's head, he was gifted with weapons by the Gods to do so, Hermes offered a pair winged sandals (one of his spare shoes) and a helmet of invisibility (borrowed from Hades) so that Perseus would have a safe travel, Athena offered a sword and a shield with which to fight Medusa with
Perseus found Medusa and her sisters at their temple and cut off Medusa's head (some say he did it like an assassin while she was sleeping, others say he fought a valiant battle against the Gorgons)
upon beheading Medusa, two beings sprung from her body, one was a winged horse named Pegasus, the other was a demigod son of Poseidon named Chrysaor, Perseus jumped on the back of Pegasus and flew away
Pegasus left Perseus on the shores of Argos and flew off, it was here that Perseus met the love of his life, Andromeda, who was chained to be sacrificed to the sea beast, Cetus, to appease Poseidon's wrath against her mother's vanity
Perseus used Medusa's head to petrify Cetus, saving his princess and earning her hand in marriage, they lived happily ever after and became ancestors of other heroes, such as Herakles

Perseus stands as the most successful of the demigods. He led a heroic life and didn't meet a tragic or ironic end. I know the Clash of the Titans movie took a lot of liberties with the story, but it still serves to make his name known. The classic movie is still one of my favorites, that remake was utter garbage.
