  • @philrab
    @philrab Před 4 lety +2

    Guys, you missed a couple steps. A HUGE advantage of IRS vs solid axle is sprung weight. The weight of the axle has to rebound from bumps along with the wheels and tires, which the IRS avoids because the weight of the differential is suspended from the body having no affect on sprung weight. Also, threaded sway bar end links are only used to adjust “preload” for circle track. Anyone on a road course or autocross would use them to remove preload and make the sway bar neutral at ride height.

      @@youtubeisbroken241 I'm gonna have to agree. It's not that I'm a Chevy guy, but the Ford setups for alot of cars and trucks are damn near one offs and it's hard to find parts or aftermarket items from a company that deals in 1 to 1 1/2 year breaks. I prefer Chevy swaps because of the cost and nothing but the cost. Ford swaps are just too damn expensive and I actually like my family being able to eat.
      This setup is really gonna be shock dependent. If you miss the mark on shocks, this thing is gonna skate rather than track straight. I'm interested with what they are going to do with shocks away bars.

      Pro-2 and Pro-4 ... not to mention trophy trucks use solid rear axles with a very low anti-squat ratio on the suspension setup.
      On a ladder frame truck, stick with a solid axle.
      IRS suspensions from production vehicles lack the suspension travel and suspension geometry for the levels of performance you're looking for. If you want to go IRS, get a 9" IRS center chunk and fabricate the suspension as needed for your application, wheelbase and akerman angle. There is A LOT more to making a offroad worthy IRS suspension then just bolting stuff on.
