Resurrecting A 1966 Chevy Nova Into An Aggressive Street Machine - Detroit Muscle S11, E2&3
Tommy and Peyton make a plan of attack to resurrect a 1966 Chevy Nova, a first for the Detroit Muscle shop. After their upscale treatment, this Nova codenamed Project Starstruck, will be a low, mean, aggressive street machine with killer looks.
With the plan laid out, Tommy and Peyton install light frame rails on the 1966 Chevy Nova. However, riding these rails proves to be tougher than expected when Project Starstruck shows her true colors.

It's for autocross...proceeds to put a carb on a ls..tons of wasted money. Feels like a video that would be playing on a snap-on truck.
I won’t even lie, the pads are not that easy at all to slide in.
I think mystery oil is atf.
Kroil is by far the best.
Remember don't spoil it kroil it.
Can anyone tell me if keeping the compression high for high altitudes would be a good idea? Like driving the rig from Denver at 6000 ft and getting on trails going up all the way to 12000ft.
That same year but use a jimmy and have it 4x4
Awesome, a base model Corolla would smoke that thing.
302 351 Most reliable engine ever driven and Ive owned them all.
Pretty good for a 304 . What valve train is doing 5,700 RPM in a AMC?
RIP Joe
No posi???
😮
My favorite muscle car is the Buick GSX
This was inspirational I’m starting on a 72 rally sport very soon 💪🏾
Now that’s a Donk!!
I remember my nephew used to bolt parts to his VW and then add all the HP together that each part claimed it added. The dyno is the only way to really know. Drag racing results can also be calculated pretty closely. But just bolting on parts and adding up the additions probably not.
not bad for a 304
Much better now
AMC rules.
Come on guys! Those rear tires sticking out of the fenders are not representing properly built 70's cars. Most of us were smart enough to keep the tires inside the fenders! Only the idiots and the dorks jacked up the rear of car 2ft and then ran tires sticking 1ft outside the fender well. PLEASE fix this absurdity!
RIP Joe. You are missed!
Thanks guys for paying tribute to AMC, the last of the independent auto makers and the great cars that they produced. What they accomplished performance wise with the limited funds that they had to work with was phenomenal. It was a very sad day for me when they closed their doors. ( I guess I'm giving away my age.)
The best thing about the 1970s was having 1960s cars.
Big Olds is lighter in weight than a big Chevy
Looks like the javelin
Cudda made additional pwr if Pat kept just a few more pens in his breast pocket 🖊️
Her most people not enough probably 800
RIP Joe
I’m in on the whole Cleaver idea. Today at least. Man do I totally agree with so many comments saying this is hardly a fair comparison not in the least bit.
A lot of it was in the emission era state of tune. Timing and air/fuel ratio.
Does that wheel need balanced?
Big love from Australia. You guys are a great team!
Whenever possible route the air filter cartridge to in front of the rad. Here you will get colder, denser air for power.
What a beautiful engine is my favorite
sbc main bolts max torque 65 ft-lbs. Chrysler small block main bolts max torque 85 ft-lbs. did chevy under do it or did Chrysler over do it?
Do you guys end up selling these??
I am wanting to put a 360 magnum in a 05 1500 I have now. I'm curious about the locked out distributor that they used here. I would like to be able to use something to control my timing and spark without having the crankshaft sensor that's bolted to the back side of the engine block. Getting rid of that crank sensor would allow me to use the 5spd transmission that came in the 05 rather than using the 4spd that was used in the 03 model. Does anyone have any experience with this that can point me in a general direction. I would appreciate it
It would be nice if they provided a cost rollup. How much does it cost for this engine? Oh, dang. I looked up just the block and it cost $7,626...so we are talking about what a $20k engine?
Now I wanna build a street rod with a 300 turbo. I can think of a couple improvements that would pop up those numbers a little.
Nice and simple engine refresh.
