    Nice review there. I have superdetailed one of my standard Hotwheels versions to look like yours. The Hotwheels one is a lovely model. Have to correct you though, this is not a 1991 model. The first few 1987/88 models had Lexan sliding side windows. Accordingly, they had the hollowed out red door internals as there was no requirement to add a cavity for the window to slide into.

    Thanks for the comparison! I currently have the Hot Wheels Elite version and am thinking about getting the Kyosho F40 Lightweight edition. Another huge "discrepancy" with the Hot Wheels version is the rear spoiler. The rear spoiler on the Hot Wheels version is a separate piece from the rear hatch - so when you look from the side, it looks like a black trim. The Kyosho is accurate. The only reason I got the Hot Wheels version is because I got it for $60 with shipping - vs. Kyosho's ~$110 price.

    @TheMax478 That's a great collection! I collect 1:18 models strictly. I have most production models from 1962-2010. I haven't bought any in a while so maybe it's time to get some more! :-)

    i have the Kyosho F40 but it's the Lightweight version! It is a great model with the excellent but then it has a major drawback: its build quality. the paint isn't applied on well (has bubbles and the edges get scraped off), one of the wheels won't spin freely, and the gear shifter, front spoiler, the right door and the button for the flip-up lights are not put on well... but other than that, it has great features! adjustable seats, full suspension, and workable flip-up lights! hope this helps!

    I watch car reviews all the time but never thought about scale model reviews. As i was watching though i took out my bburago 1/18 F40 and realize how much nicer yours were to mine.

    @NickJ95GB Hey, the steering wheel is correct, it's the emblem that's not quite right. It isn't as well proportioned as the Kyosho model. That's what I meant. But, it's off by such a small size, it really doesn't matter. I like both models. Thanks for the comment.

  • @Exevium
    @Exevium Před 7 lety +1

    Just a FYI: the fans in the front don't suck the car towards the ground :P They're just to cool the engine, or the brakes, or something rather. You're probably thinking of either the Chaparral 2J, Brabham BT46 or the fictional Red Bull X2010/X2014,

  • @TheKRVR
    @TheKRVR  Před 12 lety +1

    Haha, thanks! I was inspired by some SaabKyle04 reviews I saw, and since I don't yet own a real Ferrari, I thought this would be a decent start. :-)

  • @TheKRVR
    @TheKRVR  Před 12 lety

    @thefastesrcman It has taken someone a year to catch that. Haha, I remember making that error and thinking, "Oh crap," but I didn't want to re-shoot the whole thing, so I left it in. You get what I was trying to say in comparison to the HotWheels Elite, though. Thanks for watching and the comment!

  • @TheKRVR

    @NickJ95GB It's truly a supercar; it can still keep up today! The F40 is one of my personal favorite cars ever created.

  • @TheKRVR
    @TheKRVR  Před 13 lety

    @violian5 I had the same problem, but the Kyosho is worth every penny. I absolutely love it; it's one of the staples in my collection.

  • @TheKRVR
    @TheKRVR  Před 12 lety

    @IwantaLexusLFA I do prefer Kyosho to Hot Wheels Elite, however Hot Wheels has such a great variety of cars, it's near impossible not to incorporate them into a collection. I believe that the models that HW Elite produces now are far superior to their models of four years ago, but I do still have a preference for Kyosho. Thanks for the comment!

  • @TheKRVR
    @TheKRVR  Před 13 lety

    @SkateborderX12 It's the normal version, yes? Not the elite model; I learned that if you are going to buy Hot Wheels, always go Elite. The details in the Elite models are much better than the normal models. Next time, buy Elite and I think you'll be happy. :-)

    • @TheKRVR
      @TheKRVR  Před 4 lety +1

      Haha that right here is exactly why I prefer the Kyosho. Nearly 10 years removed from this review, and I still think the Kyosho is the model to have, despite how much they cost. I do plan to get the Amaglam 1:18 F40 at some point, and I think that will be the F40 model that tops the Kyosho example.

    • @knightofsg

    13:45 "this will run in the $100 range and it will hold its value unlike the hot wheels which will disintegrate its already in the $75 price range" LOLOL today these red 1/18 Ferrari F40s by Kyosho are selling for €350 and more. And the Hot Wheels Elite F40 in red (if it is even on sale) is in the €250 range.
    Nuts. Absolutely nuts.

    • @TheKRVR
      @TheKRVR  Před 5 lety +1

      Imperial Diecast Yep, the Kyosho is still worth more and it’s still my favorite by far. I guess they were a good investment 8 years ago.

  • @adogaruu
    @adogaruu Před 4 lety

    Which would you recommend? Bburago or Hotwheels (not elite)?

    • @TheKRVR
      @TheKRVR  Před 4 lety

      Neither; the Kyosho and Amalgam Collection examples are the ones to have. The Bburago is probably the worst of the group to make a 1:18 F40.

  • @TheKRVR
    @TheKRVR  Před 12 lety

    @CaptainVladS14 Sorry I am no mechanic, I leave that to my cousins. The fan was mixed up with the Ferrari F50, which I believe if you reference Jeremy Clarkson's review of the car from the late 1990's, you will see that those fans do actually suck the car to the road to increase grip to better channel the car's massive power. Frankly, I don't care what makes the car go, I'll just pay the bills and drive it someday. I'll leave the mechanics of the car to the trained technicians at Ferrari.

  •  Před 12 lety

    Your Kyosho F40 is pretty much ruined! Got 4, as well as the Elite and the Elite F40 LM btw! Love them all.
