Quartz watches aren’t all created equal there are quality jeweled and serviceable quartz and bulovas 262khz is the most accurate in the world they are easier to maintain more accurate and more robust but I agree there is something about the automatic and mechanical movements that make them so endearing

I don't think that box is hemispherical. I'm pretty sure it is hemicylindrical.
