- I switched to Fujifilm over a year ago and got myself the X-S10. A camera that's the first in the lineup. Do I love it or regret it? We talk about that in this video. Hope you enjoy it!

Seems like a great camera for it's price point. I've heard Fuji has great color setups for it's cameras so that makes sense. I also shoot on film for still photography so I love old SLR body design.
But, mainly, I've been relying on other DPs - and their equipment - to shoot my short films. I'm so over that: I need a dedicated camera so I can shoot when I want!

Thanks for the info. I just started my CZcams channel last December and am currently shooting on a GoPro Hero 7 with the Max Lens mod. Which has been doing me well, but I am wanting to up my game and get better shots for future videos. I came across FujiFilm and absolutely love the styling of the camera. I've been suggested Sony by almost everyone, but I always seem to stray from the norm. I know little about photography equipment and I think you did a great job with explaining this camera to me. I am torn between this one and ponying up a little more money for the X-T4, regardless thanks again for the update/review video!

Even though I don't shoot Fujifilm anymore I'll always like Fuji, they know colors and I dig the retro aspect of their cameras.. I shot with Fujifilm for years up until recently and they were definitely special cameras, especially the X100V (dang wish I kept it!) and I had a lot of fun shooting with them. I'm curious what Fujifilm will do next! Anyways, great review! I really like your approach to making these videos, its simple and easy to follow. Its inspiring for me who wants to get back into making videos again. Keep it up :)

Great review Bianca! I've owned the X-S10 for also a year now. Like you I was aiming for the XT-4 originally but when they announced the X-S10 I got sold on it! I don't regret it one bit either, I'm absolutely loving it. My only bone of contention is the weather seal, I live in Canada and we have long winters and lots of snow these days! This is my first digital camera of this caliber so I know no better but I'm happy! Thanks for the review.
Definitely agree with the weather sealing! I’m currently in upstate NY and whenever I shoot out in the snow, I’m always a little anxious. Great first camera though!! Hope you continue enjoy it even more ☺️

Coupled with Andy Mumford’s review - as a result - I now use the XS10 with the 55-200 & my GFX with the GF23 mm ( will swap this for the 20-35mm later this year ). The XS has several advantages over the GFX &, between them, I have a lovely high detail landscape arrangement as well as a lovely day to day camera for street & tourism. Thank you for taking the time to make your videos !
Well done video! You have a nice way about you! I have an XT-5 and bought this as a backup. However, it seems I use this more. The compactness sold me. I am coming from many years with Nikon FF but the weight and film simulations/recipes turned me to Fuji.

Thank you for this. I am a long-time Nikon user planning to lighten up my gear. I usually take my stuff up in the mountains and with age catching up, I don't want to bring heavy luggage when hiking anymore. Looking into this camera because it's small and lightweight.

Thank you for your video :) I am still between X-S10 and X-T3. The prob with X-T3 is that it does not have IBIS and with X-S10 that it overheats and what worries me is that it will overheat and stop playing while streaming. As you understand, a stream can take 2-3 hours and that is an issue. I know that X-T3 has no problem with that. IBIS I need it for outdoor videos.

I recently stumbled on your channel and I’m loving your vids! It’s great to see that you love Fuji as I’m a Sony shooter and i’m looking for a smaller street photography camera. I am really feeling the X-S10 because of the grip, IBIS and customization buttons. I also dig the X-E4s looks and tilting screen. Since you own both, could you tell me if there is any difference in shutter sound? I like to be discreet when shooting and do often get close to people and don’t want the shutter sound to be too loud. Are the lens with Optical Stabilization much bigger and expensive? I like shooting in poorly lit environments as well as artificially lit places. Does the electronic shutter have variable shutter speeds or anti flicker?

I recently opened a photography studio last year, and it's been quite difficult to keep the business going in the height of covid. I'm still a working student and I just saved up enough for an XS-10 and I can't wait to get it! Definitely still a worthy upgrade in 2022 compared to my old gear!

Been using the xs10 for a year for indoor YT video and IG stuff now alongside the XT4 and i can say that its basically a baby XT4. Been extremely satisfied with it except that I added smallrig base grip for better handling.
@Jae Seung Lee it did get warm after 15minutes of 4k recording but never had i encountered warning message about overheating. Rarely shoot for extended period of time beyond 15 minutes so yeah, can’t conclude much about overheating problem.
It really is a little X-T4! Great for when you don’t need all of the fancy features but still hold its own for both photo and video. Great set up! ☺️ Hopefully I can get my hands on the X-T4 soon.
@@BiancaMikaehla If there wasn't any heat problem with 2-3 hours streaming, I would get xs-10 asap.

Do you think a beginner will have trouble learning with the physical dials of the x-t4 over the more traditional design of the xs10? Or does the dials help improve better over time?

Thinking about switching to this from the Fuji X-T20 mostly for the IBIS and the fully articulated screen which come in handy for my style of photography (street, travel).
Regarding shooting in weather, most film & digital cameras I've owned have not been weather sealed...so since I tend to baby my cameras, have found carrying a rain cover/hood/sleeve doesn't take up much space but gives me piece of mind...even with a weather sealed camera/lens, might use it in a torrential downpour. Just prefer keeping gear in pristine condition...grin.

Love your videos. I've noticed that you mentioned in this video that your first camera was a Panasonic G85. How would you compare the G85 with your current camera the X-S10 ?
A very good review, Bianca! So far I have made a video with the Nikon D3200, but I am going to switch to something mirrorless and I come to the conclusion that it will be the Fuji X-S10. I mainly want to use the camera for video, especially at dusk, so after reading many reviews, Yours confirmed to me that it is a good choice 🙂

@@Dragoborne After much consideration, I eventually chose the Lumix G90 (G95), I don't even remember why :) I think at that time, I was primarily thinking about filming, and Lumix was more recommended for that. I don't want to pretend to be an expert because I'm not, but switching from a Nikon definitely added more additional features and improved the video quality. I believe that if you choose the X-S10, it will still be a fantastic choice. The biggest impact is always made by good lenses. Best regards and I wish you satisfaction with your choice!

I just recently purchased the Fujifilm X-S10 with the 18mm f2, viltrox 33mm f1.4 and the viltrox 56mm f1.4. And I really love it! I really want to do wedding and street photography. Or a photoshoot with the viltrox or maybe the lenses you owe? That would be great!

That’s a great lens selection you have there!! I heard really good things about the viltrox primes. I do plan on making a video about the new Fuji 33mm f1.4 when I go to the city maybe next month. So street photography for sure!

Nice Video, still a bit hesitate to replace my X-T2 to X-S10, I like the grip and the ibis but the small VF really bothering me, same as you I use glasses n really uncomfortable with small VF.

It's been three years I've started photography. Always been a film shooter since I did not own any digital camera. I'd try for years to save enough money for a A7iii, which seems to never drop in price, and figured I would rather pay half of it and have a camera more aligned with my current needs... I've just bought an XS10 (yey my very first digital camera !)
I chosed it over the XT3 because of the IBIS since I only have vintage lenses for now and will only be able to buy a digital lens in a few months. What do you think of the fujinon 16mm 1.8 ? Also, have you ever tried vintage lenses on your XS10 by any chance?

Great video! Do you think the xe-4 is as good as the xs10 for talking head videos? I currently use the xs10 but I like the way the xe4 looks better and the fact that its lighter but do you see any sacrifices with functionality/ease of use with making mostly talking head videos (I've heard overheating with the xe4 for longer videos too?). I dont really need IBIS so i dont think that affects me much.

I just picked up a used XT3 Like New for only $850 and will be picking up the XS10 as a back up camera in the future for the same reason XT5 is too much money.

Would be great to see a video of you talking about your uses for the S-10 and X-E4, and why you keep both, or if you had to choose one, which would it be and why. Outside the IBIS, Screen, and Styling/Viewfinder location, there doesn't seem to be much difference.

Well that's the beauty about the fuji lineup I suppose. Even their lower end cameras have the same sensor and image quality.
I have a xe4 and I'm probably gonna sell it and get a xs10. Size isn't that big of a difference and I'd definitely enjoy more dials a grip and ibis

Do the x-e4 or x-s10 ever overheat when shooting in video? I live in Vietnam and am worries about overheating due to the weather here. Had an x100v but it would overheat and shutdown after about 7 mins.

Bianca, I am looking at the xs10 which comes with a XF 16-80 mm f4 lens. What do u think of this lens. I am a beginner (novice actually), who will shoot mainly street and b&w photos.
How is the focal focus? Does it detect objects fairly well?
I am going to buy my first camera and I am tilting towards Fuji xs10. Personally I love Canon colors, but I saw fuji colors are great too(color grading is possible too hehe). Hopefully I am investing in a good camera cause. xo

How do you find the joystick? This is the only thing stopping me from buying this camera. It feels so cheap and flimsy , I'm worried it will break or malfunction. And since there is not D-PAD , you are stuck if it's not working.

Great video, thank you for sharing your experiences! I'm considering Lumix G9 and XS10. G9 is a great all-rounder but I'm a little afraid of its performance when there is less light. Fuji on the other hand is allegedly having autofocus issues and I'm wondering if you had experienced any AF problems with xs10 while shooting stills?
There is no problem with my X-T2 AF so X-S10 should be better
I got an XS-10 and I absolutely LOVE it. The small form factor just makes it so versatile! My partner has an X-T3. Overalll we are big Fuji fans, but we’ve had instances were there’s focus hunting which can be a little annoying, so when you compare it to say… something like Sony, you get tempted to switch haha. HOWEVER, we recently got a 10-24mm WR lens and we’re locked in. Fuji all the way! So yeah, if you can get your hands on the X-S10 and pair it with the 10-24mm WR lens, you will have a solid little camera( you will be happy either way though!)
@@TechStuffWithAlex Just using this body with the wide angle zoom would be pretty limiting, even if you purchased that lens for most of your shooting.

The X-S10 does get the over heatwarning when I shoot in 4k outdoors. But I shoot for 3-4 hours straight when making CZcams videos indoors with a dummy battery and it has never given me a warning, so you should be good.

I don't think Im gonna be recording for so long but every once in a while Ill be shooting some clips/videos outdoor and mainly photographs for travel and business (private villa and resort) but Im hesitating because of the overheating issue. I don’t stream but I shoot for about 3-4 hours when I make CZcams videos and it’s never overheated on me. Not even a warning.

Trying to decide between this and the Xt-30ii, if the price difference for the bodies is only $70, should i go for the X-S10? The only problem I have is I have no idea what lenses to get since the X-S10's in my area have NO kit lens bundles.
Have the same problem can’t decide between these two! The x-s10 has ibis while the xt30ii doesn’t. But I do love the design of the xt30ii… for lenses I would recommend the 18-55mm I asked multiple people what a good standard lens is and they told me the previous one is pretty good for newbies

Hmmmm. Both of them are great cameras. But if you’re doing more video work, I would say go for the X-S10. ☺️

If you really need IBIS go XS10. Otherwise pick the one you like more
I'm stuck between these two cameras as well. I'm going with the XT30 II (retro look, original dails) and i already own a Sony a6400 for video. So this camera will be only for photography.
I have X100F , does XS10 have better dynamic range etc ? I didn't thought how much I will need tilting screen
Xs10 is xtrans IV. X100F sensor is xtrans III. Dynamic range is very similar. There are videos comparing the different Fuji sensor generations but I would not change because of the sensor.

Why does x100v pictures look different
Never I hear anything on jpeg-colours without one of the Fujifilm film simulations. Why? Nobody makes the simulations a must use. Fujyfilm delivers oversharpened images in jpeg. I give sharpness a minus 2 in the presets to contrast as well and am lucky with the result.
What about auto focus ability for video in comparison with a sony ?
Hmmm. I’ve never actually used a Sony camera. I’ve heard Sony’s have great autofocus tho. Fujifilm’s is great too but I think Sony’s might be better.
I purchased an XT20 and a variety of zoom and primes, in the relatively early days of the X series. Before long, there were strident criticisms of the slow AF of the new bodies, not simply what be ,incorrectly regarded, as the el cheapo entry point body.
Fuji took these comments on board and rapidly released a number of firmware updates, seeking to address the AF problems.
In the case of my XT20, the AF issues were not resolved.
When I was to take portraits of impatient adults, not to mention children, I felt there was no alternative but to borrow a friend's Sony a6400 ( with its truly magic IAF) combined with a Sony 56 1.4 lens, now available for the Sony X mount.
The question I am putting, is now,some ? 4/5 years' since Sony released, a camera which was clearly not the pinnacle of its apsc line-up, is : does the S10 have an AF system which can, at least, match that of a far from new Sony apsc body?
There is simply no excuse for Fuji not having AF the equal of far from new Sony apsc cameras and those from other camera makers.
Hey Bianca. Great video summarizing all pros and cons with which I completely agree. I am also using X-S10 for almost a year and I am very happy that I've decided to buy it. How are you dealing with AF issues during filming (if you have any)? I have to say that even filming myself in static talking head scenarios, I am switching off face detection, because it is hunting everywhere when I move myself. But after few hacks you can simply go around those AF issues and I have to say that is is still a great, versatile camera - I am using it to almost all videos when starting my YT channel this year, but I am still on the beginning stage of my YT journey :) all the best for you, Bianca :)
@@viajay yes, two times, when I was filming longer in warm conditions, like 20-30 mins without break, overheating warning appeared, but I didn't stop filming and nothing happened. Camera didn't stop recording. But those were only two cases during my 1 year of using it and nothing bad happened. Very good and decent camera for amateur photography and filming.

Heyyy! When you say that X-S10 has the same sensor as X-T4, you mean it's the same image quality?
I mean they literally have the same APSC Sensor. ☺️

Hard to say but X-S10 if you're doing more video work. But they are more or less the same camera. One has IBIS, one doesn't.
