    I'm so disappointed you didn't spend the first three minutes doing a commercial for some sponsor, and that you didn't have an annoying music track playing over and over and over in the background until my brain turned to mush and my eyes glassed over from not caring. I'm also disappointed you didn't throw in those overly-used and completely unnecessary jump cuts that many CZcamsrs think are so impressive. In other words, thank you for making a regular, unpretentious, and informative video that got to the point and didn't waste my time trying to underwhelm me with hackneyed effects.

    I think the PASM dial attracts people from other brands, but it also improves the Fuji design. With the X-S10, I get all the controls with my right hand-aperture, shutter speed, ISO, exposure compensation, quick menu, joystick. I used to shoot RAW, but with film sim, histogram in the viewfinder, and highlight blinking, I get accurate exposure in manual mode with no trouble. I also shoot manual focus to get edge highlights in the view, which gives me depth of field info even wide open, and use back-button autofocus to override for big, quick changes. More control, more confidence, no chimping. I also often use burst mode-for focus bracketing on macros, and super-resolution stacking to increase reach. Sometimes 5 or 4 fps, so I can shoot singles or multiples without changing settings, and sometimes 10 or 20 fps in fast mode for birds & insects. I just don’t bother with mechanical shutter these days. I know when I would need it, but the situation doesn’t arise. I’m a better photographer now because advanced techniques are easy with this camera.

    For a non-pro, you do know camera specs and features very well. Kudos to you. I am about ready to purchase the XS10 after months of deliberation. Love the IBIS, Fuji sensor, 26 MPs (just right), and compactness. I don't like the decision to use UHS 1 cards, lack of weather sealing (so it may not be what you want to bring on a day hike) and some other things. Also, I am pretty nervous about the video AF. Some have said it is inferior, others have said it is decent. I hope you enjoy your new camera and will stay tuned for further reports.

    7:50 I put on any unstablized prime lens on XT4 or Xs10, with IBIS and DIS on, I also got very jerky images when I panned slowly. However, when I put on the 18-55 OIS lens, I got gimbal-like smoothnes in the footage. So I now only use OIS lenses for shooting handheld video. Also no IBIS issue with a gimbal. It's OK to leave IBIS on when camera is on a gimbal.

    Totally agree with all 14 points, they can apply for me also. I am using my cameras way more for taking photos than videos. So i think that Fujifilm X-S10 is the best APS-C camera for under 2000$ (including the lens) in the market-period.

    recently got a GH5, while it takes awesome photos I mainly got it for the outstanding video options, saving up for a fujifilm camera for photos and it was down to X-t3 or XS-10, Love all the buttons and dials on the X-T3 but the XS looks nice and its up to date...it will act as a backup video option to the GH5 so I guess that will be my deciding factor, thanks for the video!

    Honest review on why you selected the X S10. Both very good cameras but I too settled on the X S10. This camera has more than its fair share of professional features and is easy to use out of the box or manipulate as you wish. Thanks for the video. I have the X-S10 and decided to buy it in preference to the X-T4 for mostly the same reasons as you. I previously had an X-T1 and then the X-T2 but wanted IBIS to pair with my 16-55mm f/2.8 non OIS lens. I did not need the higher end specs of the X-T4 so went for the X-S10 and I love it. The only annoyance is the smaller EVF but I can live with that. I already had 5 batteries from my X-T2 that I can use with the X-S10 so no need to buy new batteries which is a substantial saving right there. Overall I saved about $1,100 AUD by opting for the X-S10 over the X-T4.
    At some point in the future I might sell my X-S10 and get an X-T5 or X-T6 or maybe whatever the replacement for the X-S10 happens to be.

    Thank you for the video! You actually made me realize that X-S10 will fit me more than X-T4. May I ask, what is the main reason for getting a cage? Is it for better ergonomics and camera safety? Would you recommend getting the 18-55 2.8-4F lens or 16-80 F4? The first kit is cheaper and I have read it is faster. I mainly plan to shoot video 70% and 30% photos. Thank you!

    • @henrymediagroup
      @henrymediagroup  Před 3 lety +7

      You are very welcome! That’s a great question! I always get a cage for my cameras because I do video mainly and I always have to attach accessories like monitor and mic on the camera so I need a cage. If you do video mainly, the 16-80 F4 will be a little better because of the constant aperture and wider focal range, but if you do a lot of low light videos, you might want to get the 18-55 F2.8 or prime lenses. Hope it helps! Thank you so much for your support!

    Great review. I am also considering either the X-S10 or XT4. I don't shoot video, weather sealing is nice to have but I live in the midwest and there and it never rains for long. Card slots, been shooting digital for 16 years and never had a card fail. Battery life, it's more than enough for stills for me. I think the EVF would be the only deal breaker for me. One thing you didn't mention is that that the X-S10 is 6 ounces lighter (17 grams). The X-S10 + the 35 mm F2 weighs a total of 22 ounces which is a very light set up. I love cameras with great value propositions like the X-S10.

    Thank you for the video. Really useful information. I’m currently trying to decide between these two cameras. The X-S10 seems more my speed because I’m new to photography and really only want to take pictures and some video. A couple questions. Due to the different burst rate would the S10 have difficulty capturing images of active kids? And do u think the S10 is too small for a Fuji zoom such as the 16-55? And finally, should I worry about how future proof the S10 is? I wouldn’t want to upgrade a couple years down the road. Thank you so much sir.

    • @henrymediagroup
      @henrymediagroup  Před 3 lety

      You are very welcome! Those are some great questions! I think you might be better off with a X-T4 because of the faster card writing speed for the fast actions, better weight distribution with bigger lenses like the 16-55, and better video quality for future proofing. Hope it helps! Thank you so much for supporting the video!

    • @henrymediagroup

      We have never captured fast action photos with our cameras, but we do know that the SD Card write speed of the X-S10 is limited by the UHS-I card, so you will be getting around 1 to 2 seconds burst photos. If that works for you, the X-S10 is not a bad choice. Hope it helps!

    What’re your thoughts about a pocket 4K as my A-Cam and the X-T4 as my B-Cam/stills camera? I already have a rigged out pocket 4K and want a B-cam that can take good stills but can also be intercut with the pocket 4K!

    Hello, I've watched your video about the GH5 called "Is The GH5 Still Worth It In 2021? | Coming From Full Frame To MFT". I'm still using a GH4 and I'm hesitating at either an open box GH5, practically new going for $950 or a brand new Fuji X-S10. If my main objective is to make shorts, I should really go 10 bit, right? so GH5?

    • @yoginwidhi6676
      @yoginwidhi6676 Před 2 lety

      GH5 is a great cam, the thing thats not too good maybe the AF and lens choice-price. Lets say their 25mm f1.4 its cost more than some full frame 50mm f1.8 which we know its eq 50mm f2.8
      But if we talk about quality, the 10bit and IBIS is totally great in GH5, and if you can live with manual focus and manual lens (which many is great now like ttartisan f1.4) GH5 is good enough

    Good review. But I'm worried about the EVF. I hope it's okay, though 2.36m (or whatever) "dots" is inadequate IMO. All EVFs should be at least 3.69 "dots" (a stupid way of saying 1 mp?).

    You can color-grade 8-Bit on the X-S10, it holds up well if you don't throw a LUT on the there and grade from scratch. I've done it. I'm going to go make a video later on how to expose for F-Log. It does fall apart quickly if someone tries to grade it like its Raw Video, just have to be careful like you said.

    I'm still undecided about the X-S10 vs XT-3. The X-S10 is newer, has the IBIS, is smaller and better ergonomics, and is U$ 100 cheaper right now. But, the XT-3 has a better EVF, has the flip up/down screen (that i prefer), has more buttons and has the traditional dials (not better, just tradicional). With a lens with OIS, the IBIS would be redundant.
    But my main struggle is that I eventualy might move to prime lens without OIS.
    So, this is my situation... EVF / flip up-down screen/+buttons --- VS --- IBIS, ergos?

    • @milesian1
      @milesian1 Před 2 lety +1

      Yes, without question. The only hesitation I would have would be about the single card slot in a wedding sort of situation. That said, I shot a Nikon D700 for around six years as my main camera and I never had a problem with using a single card slot.

      @@milesian1 this makes me question buying the xt4. I think xs10 is a really good value for the money but that extra specs from xt4 make it end game quality 😅

    • @milesian1
      @milesian1 Před 2 lety

      @@kevinmueco9323 Another consideration I forgot to mention is the battery life. The X-T4 uses a newly designed battery, while the X-S10 has the same NP-W126S battery as the X-T3 and older models without IBIS. With IBIS activated, the S-X10 eats through batteries a lot quicker. That said, for still photography with people as subjects, such as at events, you want to keep shutter speed fast enough to eliminate motion blur, so stabilization isn't usually necessary or desirable.
      If you're working events with two bodies the X-S10's tiny size could also be a consideration. I find it a mismatch with my larger Fujifilm and Nikon bodies, but others may fight it a relief.

    Dynamic Range, 8, 10 bits, plus all those logs for video...What the hell? I just want to buy myself a camera to go out and to have fun under the sun, as I believe your point is. Two sd cards... non-shake, etc. I'm not Steven Spielberg, and I'll NRVER be. By the way, I just want to take pictures at 26 megapixels, where people will be happy to see themselves. Not to expose at the Metropolitan Museum of Arts. I haven't even printed a picture for the last 10 years. I don't want to understand TV or the psychology of the cow in order to have a hamburger while watching the Superbowl.
    I like your full common sense about this camera explanation. I'm about to buy myself a used one. That's why I came here.
    So, the question: Can I buy this camera to have fun?
    Give me the simplest settings, please.
    And no, I'm not taking pictures in the rain, snow sleet, or volcano's eruption. If it's bad for my health, it will be bad also for the camera.
    You are a great facilitator.
