joshua wooten Mr. Puzzle has done a few videos of himself solving a puzzle from scratch. It honestly depends on your opinion of which style you like more. Personally I like both methods. Watching someone go through the problem solving steps and stops blind is interesting... BUT I also think it is very interesting to see the solutions to the puzzle because this also gives different insights and allows you to see the logic behind a move or the reason something works, which is glossed over alot whwn just solving something the first time.
Both approaches to puzzling videos work, your opinion may vary.
Rawr!
joshua wooten I disagree Chris use a lot of luck and muscle to try to figure a problem. Mr puzzle uses math logic. yeah we don't see the step by step but his explanation go beyond than hey I smashed this part!

True. He has spent over 28 hours trying to open it. He has recorded 16 of them.

I watched the entire video. Actually, I only learned of this puzzle about a week ago and I watched all of the CZcams videos that I could find of people trying to solve it and getting NOWHERE. You were ahead of all the others as soon as you removed the first piece. Everyone else complained about somehow always getting back to the starting position and never making any real progress. Anyway, excellent job! You are now king of.... something.
Thanks, Mark! It happened also a lot of times to me.
I invested a lot of time to be able to record this video!

Did you solve it originally without knowing the solution?
That is a 1 word puzzle: wow!
Or rather 1 rule: if Mr.Puzzle needs to attach stickers to assist in solving it, I will not go near it!
Chris Ramsey accidentally broke this puzzle today. After battling it for a whole year.
Yeah, that was fucking epic! 🤣
Your accent and the times that you get excited in a puzzle makes me happy, I enjoy your videos.
You do realize that if Mr. Puzzle listened to you speak English that you would have an accent?
As requested by many of you! Definitely an amazing puzzle! I know the solving process is long but I wanted to show you the complete procedure that you can get an impression of how complex the solution is. Who watched the complete video!? Is there a single one? :D

Mr.Puzzle Why don't to answer more often to your viewers and subscribers, because all of us would like some feedback from you???
This puzzle was made by using a computer algorithm... That alone tells you how complex this is...
Thank you, this is the only thing I wanted to know about this puzzle... Literally more than the actual solution
Human brain solving a computer generated puzzle. Amazing!
How do you know that?
Mohsien Khan. I guess a human would have to be a little insane to design something like this.
I can make a puzzle using a computer algorithm and still allow a toddler to solve it easily. Idk why there's this taboo that programming is hard and only the smartest people or mathematicians are able to program.

Somehow, it feels like that would be even more frustrating!
perhaps a good way to show how this puzzle works would be to "reassemble" it without the frame around it first. This will provide a better view of how the pieces interlock and will make for better footage. I did watch all the way through the video and appreciated the solution even more having enjoyed the struggle.... Keep Puzzling!
yes, please Mr Puzzle. Please assemble in without the frame.
I searched far and wide all over CZcams to find a video on how to solve this. You might be the first person to post a video of this puzzle Solved!
I cannot fathom how you solved this, put it back together, marked the pieces, made this video, solved it again, sent it to Chris to solve when he broke his, and likely repaired and reassembled his. It's unbelievable how your memory works.
Me: *watches Mr Puzzle complete it*

Thats just crazy hard.... mostly because you can't really see whats going on inside.

Somewhere Chris Ramsey is crying.
*correct*
Why? Because chris is legit? Dash he is always honest and legit live solves all the puzzles and if he doesn't he tries it again only good knows how much research this dude has done I could imagine he got frustrated and went for a solving guide and then made this video so please. Don't compare those two guys. Here you got puzzles being solved. On Chris channel you have quality content with good edits and legit community. Don't compare those thx.
He must put back together then only he can announce as it solved. He labeled those blocks too. Chris is honest and superb
EXTREMELY IMPRESSED MR. PUZZLE. GREAT VIDEO!!
I watched the entire video..... but I wanted to see you put it back together! I bet it was just as hard . Great work !
Somthing tells me that puzzle is 10 times harder to put together lol
I don't understand how these puzzles are created... Do you know a channel or a site that shows a puzzle being created from scratch? If yes, can you give us a link?? 😉 Thank you!
Industrial product designer here. I don't have actual experience with making puzzles myself, but as far as I know it's a reverse proces. It all starts with an idea and a single piece, and you add single steps at a time to make the puzzle more complicated. Generally, the idea here is that you can only take a single step in order to progress; There are no multiple solutions (maybe unintended solutions, but never planned). As Mr. Puzzle said, it's a "one-way", meaning that you can do a bunch of things, but you only have one way to the solution, which is crucial to making these types of puzzles.
Let's give you an example: From the look of the sword after he pulled it out, I would guess that the shape of the sword started like this. It's the base of the puzzle to which we will add. This is most of the time "just an idea". Let's add two bars running on the sides to keep it locked in, where the two bars slide into the "pockets" of the S-shaped sword frame. This is already a 3-step "puzzle" (slide the two bars out, then pull the sword out). Now, we can add a step, by adding a bar perpendicular to these added two bars. We've now added a 4th step to our puzzle, where we now need to remove the newly added bar first in order to solve it. We can keep on adding steps like these, constantly repeating the steps up to here to confirm that the puzzle is still possible (e.g. If we add a fifth step, we repeat step 4 to 1 again to verify that each of these steps can still be performed). This is "easily" done with 3D CAD software such as Siemens NX or SolidWorks, by making use of "save states" in assemblies, modifying a part and then walking back and forth through all the steps.
Of course, you'll still need serious spacial insight & creativity to create these puzzles. It's not something you'll do overnight and can take many weeks in order to make puzzles of sizes like these, as the more steps you add to the puzzle, the higher the risk becomes that you create a "gap" somewhere, allowing you to skip a couple of steps, etc. - It's crucial to keep checking every single step by undoing and redoing as you toy with the shape of the pieces. It's very important to give your puzzle to other people during the design process, as they might find one of these gaps for you, or do something you haven't intended and have overlooked.
This is of course still an intepretation of how these puzzles are designed. If you want to know with 100% guarantee how they've done it, you need to find an actual puzzle designer. :)
Quackertree thank you very much!
Us?
Quackertree Thank you. I'm very curious, what do you do for a living, if I may ask without getting to personal. And what is your SS #, address, and mothers maiden name, and your favorite color.
I'm an industrial product designer, which is someone who designs products for the mass. Can be pretty much anything, like a lamp, a speaker, a chair, a couch, a television or things like puzzles. Anything that is produced on "industrial scale", really. I'm technically not an actual "designer", but I'm more of an "engineer", in the sense that I don't think of new ideas, but take ideas and finalize them by making them production ready. :)
Oh, and my favourite colour is red. ;)

Yea this was an epic puzzle. I know it would have took me awhile to solve it alone. It was awesome to see all the moves i wouldn't have thought of probably for months. Keep up the amazing work.
Here after Chris Ramsey's unfortunate accident
I am soo happy that you did this puzzle :) I watched the whole video as well, it was very confusing for sure. I first saw this puzzle attempted by Chris Ramsey I think but he wasn't able to solve it, that it why I asked for this video. We all knew that if it was possible that you would do it! Great job Mr. Puzzle.
Watched the entire video. Wow great job, so difficult especially the more free play created. Awesome!
Wonderful job. Thank you for this difficult puzzle solve.
Watched the complete video. This indeed is probably the most difficult puzzle that I've ever seen you solve. Went to the sellers web page and requested the solution. I downloaded the .PDF file, but even with it, I don't think that I would be able to solve it. Since this apparently was computer designed, I don't think it is a fair challenge for a human brain. I would imagine that you used the colored stickers in order to follow the solution diagram which has no text, only pictures. Saw this on eBay for $50. It's made from a 3D printer in PLA plastic. The wooden one sells for almost $150 (US) and is "out of stock".
Actually when I solved it there was not solution for download back then.
King Puzzle would be a cool name since removing the Excalibur makes you king.
