Klonoa, a series that hasn’t seen the light of day since a 2008 Wii release. Let's see if its resurrection is worth it in my Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series review!

I got the Switch version, maybe I just need to edit the Texture settings but the graphics look so much than what you showed in yoru review. Almost like it was straight from the PS1 version and not the Wii version
Haven't played either of these games yet but I've heard their names and they do seem fun. Klonoa 2 actually needing more precision on platforming sounds good to me.
The increase in difficulty in Klonoa 2 was much appreciated, I hope any future sequel ups it even more.
If you have never played this series then this collection is okay but it has a ton of issues not covered in this review. You need to cap the FPS because in menus the game can run up to 1,000 fps, which can brick graphic cards. The Enemy AI and timed sections do not function as they did in the originals, if you play over 60 fps. Klonoa 1 is missing all of the post processing effects of the Wii version and looks a lot worse for it. The first game's music is all in Mono for some reason. All hitboxes for Klonoa, items, and enemies are all wrong and do not match the originals. Basically, I would buy the collection but emulate the originals. I know that sounds odd but this is clearly a test to get Klonoa 3. If we don't buty it, then no Klonoa 3 but the ports are kind of crappy.
I will be devil's advocate, but I played with unlocked vsync (on RTX 2070S) and didn't have any problem with framerate, I got over 240fps and didn't burn my gpu (In fact I got 240Hz screen, so it was looking so smooth). Game also didn't break at timed sections when unlocked. First game's music is in stereo, but all dialogues are in mono - they just ripped off voice lines from PSX (Fun fact - in-game voices and fmv sections are from Wii Phantomilian, but cutscenes are using PSX). But I must say, that hitboxes in DtP are actually broken - even small slope blocks wind bullet and that's bullshit
I have my fps globally capped to right under my refresh rate for Gsync support, so I unfortunately did not notice this fps issue.

nah Klonoa was based on the PS1 version thats why they are decent tbh i have no issues on the games
Klonoa in this collection uses the Wii version with tweaks to make it look more like the PS1 version. This version uses almost all the same models, textures, levels, and hitboxes from the Wii version. If they have updated and fixed the hitboxes, that would be great but they did not match the PS1 version at launch. Just paly both versions back to back or watch AustinSV's video on the series. @@dxtremecaliber
