KLONOA is a 3D side-scrolling action game series whose first title was released by Namco in 1997.
Set in a unique universe populated by a range of original characters, the game follows the hero, Klonoa, as he sets off on a journey to save the world.
Commemorating the 25th anniversary of the first title in the series, we are pleased to announce the release of the KLONOA Phantasy Reverie Series, a remastered title combining both KLONOA: Door to Phantomile and KLONOA 2: Lunatea’s Veil!
The world of the games and their gameplay elements remains unchanged, while the graphics have been upgraded. Adjustable difficulty settings have also been introduced to make the games more accessible to first-time players.

I love these games. I imported the EU/UK physical so I could always have them. I wish it did come with sooner bonus material. I only own Klonoa 2 physically. I really hope it gets patched to hit 60fps constantly
5:30 I still have the original copies of Klonoa 1 & 2. Neither had frame rate issues.
7:27 After what they DID with the English language dub on the Wii version, I am not surprised they opted it out for this version.
I've never played this series but I know it has a cult following that adores it. I'm not a fan of platformers but I might pick this up on sale.

amazing gameplay
I hope to pick this up eventually but it needs to drop in price with the minimal effort in terms of celebrating the series and the frame rate drops. It all needs to be spot on to justify the current price. Hope there is a drop soon.
Played and beat both games on Switch. Ordered the physical Asia version from PlayAsia. Bit disappointed with two things.
One, the pre-order bonus code doesn't work. Hopefully that gets rectified. Says the content hasn't released yet. It's a costume swap of Klonoa between the 2 Klonoa games.
Secondly, the first Klonoa game felt off, and I finally figured out why. I came across another CZcams video comparing all the Klonoa games, and it went over the remake of the first game on Switch.
Apparently the frame rate is tied to Klonoa's jump height, and that can make it harder to grab enemies in the air when normally they were easier to on PS1 and Wii.
I actually have a third issue. The dialogue in the first game can go by way too fast. You'll have a line of dialogue that disappears after 2-3 seconds, then one word or explanation will remain on screen for 5 or more seconds. It's inconsistent.
Lastly, the inconsistency of text automatically moving forward or requiring an input. Make it one or the other so I know if I need to press anything.
As I'm typing, I keep thinking of more things. There was one scene in Klonoa 2 where it shows the individual asking for help when you are about to ring the second bell. The music is supposed to change there, but it doesn't.
The caves in the La-Lakoosha level on Klonoa 2 doesn't have the right amount of lighting. It feels too bright and washed out, losing it's ambiance.
I am happy that these got re-released. I just wish they could've come out the best that they could be.
