Black Dynamite and The Boondocks had some pretty good animation
The heavy black shading looks really clean and sharp
This is not only way better than pretty good, but also better animation than the boondocks

Worst part is, I think a huge part of That Bastard Kurtis' pain comes from him not really getting to know his father.

That Bastard Kurtis has repeated That Frog Kurtis' catchphrase multiple times, but here he goes repeating it in the context of something he remembered his dad saying. what if that's all he ever really remembered of the man- er, puppet?

Well he did watch Black Dynamite kill his father in front of him at a very young age and then proceeded to use him like a puppet. Probably would be traumatizing for anyone (but still hilarious to us).

It was animated by Titmouse inc. one of the few animated shows that was actually animated in America by an American company and not outsourced to Korean animation studios which is the standard practice
To be fair it is a super simple animation. There isn't actually many unique frames like 3 or 4 that shift back and forth.
They did a good job at portraying him for sure and the way the show animates with more high quality stills makes it work well.
The way JB Smoove naturally gibbers while he speaks makes him perfect for this

I love that the lip synching and animation of Kurtis speaking is either exquisitely animated and on point or 100% choppy single frame mouth flaps. There are no in-betweens.

The person who voiced That Bastard Kurtis genuinely is at the tippy-top of voice acting. Despite the obvious comedic and non-nonsensical nature of the narrative and the fact that he's, y'know, a frog and...a puppet, and...black while being green and...etc..there is really intense, genuine emotion in a lot of these lines. Really neat stuff.
Oh, and: RIBBIT MOTHER-**********, RIBBIT! FOI forever!

This is one of my favorite episodes of this show, not only because it was funny but told many life lessons at the same time. First and foremost coming to terms with having a dead beat dad and the lesson of how revenge is a cycle that repeats itself unless someone has the will and love to stop that cycle.

I like that they essentially animated him like a puppet going pose to pose with little to no in-betweens, makes the character stand out and it's a smart use of limited animation.

It's like a purposely B movie that takes itself too seriously, that's part of the joke.
It is very much primarily a comedy.

I'm glad that, among a sea of hideously animated adult cartoons (think Big Mouth and Brickleberry), you can still find shows like Black Dynamite, The Venture Bros. and The Boondocks that have appealing character design and great animation
Loved the show, but it had so much energy in every episode you felt exhausted just watching it.
