A divorse not always gonna fix everything but if the relationship don't work out, one or the two are toxic to each other i think better separated, than making things worse for them and the kid.

Orel’s behavior in the nature episode is so spot on for how a child eventually learns to deal with abuse. After getting yelled at over and over you just eventually sit there waiting for it to be over
I’ll never forget the reaction of the day I agreed they were right. I was somehow more wrong for that. Every time I agreed, it made our relationship irreparable. Not a single family member of mine is close to me due to this. I speak in an odd tone so I often come off as sarcastic. So when I adjust myself to sound like them, I come off as even more rude.
That's one of the best things about Morel Orel. I was so worried that the show would end and either A. Not show what happened to Orel, or B. That Orel would grow up and be like Clay. To see that Orel broke the cycle of abuse and became a good man actually made me tear up a little.

His childhood played a big part and he’s the one who decided to continue drinking after one night of trying it with his date. How could she have known he’d turn into an alcoholic? She and her father both drank and it helped them cope, but for Clay it made him worse. Don’t get me wrong she obviously messed up big time and her manipulation was screwed up but we can’t put all the blame on her by any means.
One thing I love about this show is how it's still a normal adult comedy show, but it still touches on sensitive topics like religious trauma, neglectful parents, sexual assault trauma, etc
clays alcoholic breakdown is so terrifying. I cant even explain it in words, I've dealt with people who have alcohol addiction and this is the most scarily good depiction of that and it sends chills down my spine seeing this. I have never felt this close to an animated series and it kinda..hurts, I love this show so much its incredible.

@@CrennyCanon I think it was cancelled simply because… In the beginning, it was more or less a black comedy. It was satirical and darkly comedic. But when the show delved into dark subject matter with a more serious tone, that’s when they pulled the plug. In other words, the networks like filters, but they hate mirrors.
Because adult swim is really just hypocritical. I don't necessarily think adult swim is bad, it's just they like dark humor not the *dark :(* humor moral orel has. And even they were concerned about the show being to mature, even though their entire point was about "mature haha" humor
clay breaking down and finally being honest about how he feels about stopframe in front of everyone only to be rejected because orel showed how much of a jerk clay was to stopframe who did nothing but treat him how a father should also fucking gets me no matter how many times I see that episode it JUST CUTS DEEP
And by that point in the episode all I could feel was frustrated that Clay had interrupted Orel and Stopframe's pleasant, wholesome day. I was just hoping Clay would finish his breakdown and leave so that they could get back to it.
It is also super fucked up how Clay is literally repeating the same cycle of abuse he experienced from his father, just like his father he too was jealous about how his son was in his eyes stealing his lover. The only time he seemed to be honest was in a moment of utter selfishness. It is such a clever way to show the cycle of abuse, Clay literally perpetuates it throughly by doing to Orel what his father did to him meanwhile Stopframe, who for all the show has been as heinous as everybody else, puts a stop to it. He rejects Clay and does good for Orel.
I mean, that’s just not true. The 50s have been VERY heavily romanised and a lot of people suffered - especially in terms of civil rights, but it’s not like nobody had anything good back then (like you can’t say people didn’t own houses, houses were far cheaper back then compared to now). This how also doesn’t even take place then, it’s in the early 2000s - the bush era. I honestly don’t know why you’re talking about that

It’s terrifying to see ANY parent turn into a different person who scares you, not just alcoholic. What also hurts and makes the scene feel real is how Orel yells “it’s because you become a bad person when you drink!”. Both Carolyn Lawrence’s voice acting in that scene AND the fact that it sounds like something a real kid would say just adds to the raw emotion.
For Clay's breakdown in Nature, something I never see anyone talk about is how his rant makes it sound like Bloberta forced him into conceiving Orel with her. Of course he could be lying, but considering Bloberta's obsession with having the perfect family image, well...
Clay was "innocent," church going person before meeting Blobrta. She introduced him to alcohol, coercing/forcing it upon him and made him marry her. She kinda fucked him up in all sorts of ways

yeah, someone also pointed out that episode was right after nature- like he was almost begging for punishment, falling into his guilt for shooting orel and practically asking to be beat up both because he feels like he deserves it. which is double edged, i think. he feels like he deserves the punishment, AND he feels like he deserves the confirmation that hes still worth it after everything hes done

Even in the fucked up moments they inject a bit of comedy. Like in the crack episode, I still say "I'm jonesin' here" to myself all the time. And the scene where Doughy kills Orel. The way he says "bye orel" always makes me laugh for some reason
I like that they inject that same subtle humor in the deep moments that are wholesome too. Like when Nurse Bendy is reconnecting with her son and he says she'd make a good librarian, and she says "I'm not smart enough to...give people books." Like it's so vulnerable and honest but the wording also makes me chuckle.
i think one of the most hilarious moments is when bloberta says “i can slice potatos while at the same time…. dice tomatos” and she silently smiles to herself
You know, back when Orel was doing drugs I thought it was more fucked up how his dad spanked him for using slang over doing actual drugs and assaulting his employer. Unsurprisingly he got worse
I remember that being the setup for the whole first season I think. Orel does something legitimately terrible and his dad spanks him for some unrelated reason. There's an episode where he tries to beat up some other kids and his dad spanks him because he didn't let his friends participate in beating up the other kids.
It explains the way he acts in so many later scenes. Like when he tells Orel " hate away, sister" in the nature episodes, or tries to goad the other men into beating him up in the bar. He's so desperate for someone to validate his existence by stopping to focus on him, even if it's with anger or violence.
it shows in his negligence of shapey as well, as he doesn't love his illegitimate son enough to hit him as he does with orel, showing in his own twisted way that he loves his son.
I’m so glad people are actually putting clips up and realizing how powerful season 3 as a whole is. The little satirical black comedy that called out most nucular family archetypes that just get swept under the rug. Even Clay as the only Antagonist in the series speaks a lot of volumes as he went from a comedic sitcom Father Figure that was somewhat stable in Season 1 to a deplorable Monster at his own hands and actions of alcoholism. If anything Moral Orel turned into a cautionary timale warning the dangers and signs of an abusive family. Support Dino Stamatopoulos in anyway you want to by buying Moral Orel, giving Frankenhole [WAY more lighthearted of a comedy sketch then Moral Orel] or watch the film Anomalisa [I don not see people talk about this film EVER and it is JUST SO GOOD PLEASE WATCH IT], the art of Stop-Motion needs to be recognized more y’all don’t sleep on Dino after Moral Orel’s cancellation🙏💫

Agreed, especially in this day and age when a lot of people seem to romanticize the "old ways" and nuclear families of the past. The show really shows the problems of that time and the trauma people dealt with, except back then you were expected to shut your mouth or you didnt have a choice because you were financially dependent on the abusers
The nature episodes made me have to take a break from the show. When Clay said *"I don't remember it, so therefore it's not my fault".* after shooting Orel hit too close to home. Nothing like realizing the person you're supposed to admire is a horrible person. And then Clay's monologue in Sacrifice practically spelled out my dad's issues.
Yeah, “I don’t remember it, so therefore it’s not my fault” is basically my moms motto. It really hurts having her say and do awful shit and even now while in therapy she still denies everything or “she didn’t remember it that way” so she never takes responsibility or apologizes or changes because *she* doesn’t remember there being any problems. It hurts having her blame my trauma on me.
The nurse bendy scenes really get to me. It's so incredibly raw in emotion and I connect so hard, feeling wary of the next person because everytime i trusted they wouldn't be like the last they were. Nurse Bendy deserved so much better than everyone gave her.
I like to think that influences like Stopframe and Piercing Lady (whose name i should really go back and learn) and his Grandpa are part of why Orel eventually turned out ok despite all the madness. Like, even though his moments with them were relatively brief, they planted the seed of showing him what it's like to be a not-awful person who thinks for themselves and can spend time with someone without manipulation or a selfish agenda.
@@h.w.4482 Yeah but Stephanie, Stopframe, Reverent Putty and his Grandfather all show that you can fuck up, that you can have the messed up upbringing of Moralton and still do better. That as flawed as your life and you have been you can still put and end to it and choose to be better. That just like them, Orel choose to end the cycle.
Notice that they're all considered outsiders in moralton as well. The people that fit in the least in moralton are the ones who had the best influences on orel. It kinda parallels with how Jesus hung out with sex workers and beggars, the outsiders in the Bible times, more than he did the most pious and socially accepted members of society. And here we have orel whose best qualities were informed by his atheist grandfather, a piercing covered lesbian who works at a sex shop, and a gay man who unbeknownst to orel has been carrying an affair with his dad for longer than orel's been alive. They all have their flaws just as the sex workers and beggars did (being a sex worker or poor and homeless aren't personality flaws btw) , like with grandpa puppington he was a bad father to clay which turned out to be a domino effect that reached orel, Stephanie who pierced the junk of a minor without parental consent (still isn't the worst among the three), and coach stopframe carrying on an affair with orel's own dad and not caring about the damage he's done to orel's family, but even those flaws don't turn out to make these individuals into people who hurt orel with their direct influence. whereas orel's parents personality flaws do turn them into people that hurt orel with their direct influence.
In my opinion, in a way Orel is saying he killed it because of his dad. Like when he said "sorry Mr. Bear, but my dad's a jerk" So "no dad, YOU killed it" is his way of saying his dad made him do it
Possibly the most spiteful thing he ever did. Take away any chance for his father to be proud and happy of his son because he knew Clay never deserved that. Makes me wonder if years later he ever told him the truth. He did kill the bear to save his father's life. And he lied to hurt him in the only way he could
"Alone" was such a dark episode, I don't think the show should've been cancelled because of it. But holy shit- the part where nurse (I forgot her name my bad) was crying and yelling about how "hubby" was different and that he wasn't supposed to be like the others disturbed me a lot, especially because in my opinion, she was acting like a younger age. Trying to act like she was innocent again, it was like she got her innocence taken away AGAIN. So in my opinion, that is the most disturbing part of that episode, especially if you really look at the smaller details and understand the meaning behind it.
They did a good job portraying a woman coping with trauma the best way she could. And how having that coping mechanism taken from her nearly broke her. It was heart wrenching and made Joe beating his abusive rapist father all the more satisfying

tw for mine too i feel the exact same way ive been in that situation so many times with people i loved and cared about it breaks you in ways you cant explain.
My parents marriage wasn't really too dissimilar to Oral's family, some of the major differences where it was a case of husband abuse; woman can be abusive towards men/spouse/boyfriends as well. And my father is actually willing to learn from his mistakes, my mother doesn't want to learn. My father did have moments where his bipolarity was out of control and took a few steps too far but he still never hit a woman, she was bipolar as well but my father handled his symptoms far better; she's also anorexic, meaning her bodyweight is often inconsistent but heavily leaning on not eating enough as well so very weak as well.
For me it's the opposite. My mom is willing to learn from her mistakes, as for my dad.. well he doesn't like being told he's wrong. At all. If you even give him the slightest hint that he might be in the wrong, he will go off on you. I hope your family situation gets better though and try to talk to someone you trust about it
I am just so sorry 🌹 The real shit is when home was suppose to make you feel like it but it's just a house- Know what I mean My parents where 18/20 when my mom got pregnant Both of them have really horrible and sad past that I don't really want to know (more than I already know), and the things that happened to them formed much of the character they have today My mom mentally stopped aging and my dad can't stand on his own, wich means that when I was born, two teens had to get together (without love, just duty) and forget part of their lives for it They they argued, they shouted, they cried, they almost fought right in front of me I was about 8 years old when my mother started telling me disgusting things about their relationship and extra-marital relationships (sexual and couple arguments) and it made me horrified, but the older I get more I am used to it She have a terrible past with SA and R*pe and p*do and for that I never really had a intimate moment with my dad or uncles and I'm really paranoid It kinda doesn't metter because I already was SA in school (by my classmates) They got a little better now but the problems didn't stop, I'm about to turn 14 and I still cry when someone is screaming near or to me There's just too much to say but I'm starting to feel guilty by telling all this...

The scene with Clay drinking in the woods always reminds me of the day my mom got drunk at a park and almost killed herself, my brother, and I when she attempted to drive us home. We were in hospital for months after that wreck and I was left homeless at age 9 for almost a year. Last thing I told her was "I don't think you should be driving, mom" and she reacted in a very similar way to Clay during his meltdown.
8:42 God this episode truly hit close to home. Seeing her break down truly broke my heart. As someone who’s been in her same situation multiple times, I’m very grateful light was shined on those topics. I always want to give her a hug during these scenes :(

That episode was supposed to cause discomfort over how the three moralton women cope with their traumas over sexual abuse which inevitably cause the cutting board and got the show cancelled over this very episode since it literally was too depressing to air.
When Nurse Bendy screams “NOOOO!” after Hubby falls on her, that sounded like a real scream. It’s also sad to see her sobbing in the corner because Hubby falling on her in a suggestive pose and accidentally getting milk spilled on her (which is symbolic of a certain male bodily fluid…) caused her trauma to flare up.
I wish I had gotten a TW from the show itself or anyone else before I watched "Alone". One of the darkest episodes of anything I have ever seen. The way is portrayed sexual abuse in such a realistic way I wasn't expecting. I knew this show was dark, but this and "Nature" was on a whole other level.

The fact that I have to deal with my abusive drunk older brother doesn't phase me watching any drunk scenes in this at all. Brian (I'm not gonna give him any mercy after all he has done) is the type of guy to show up at a event, the last one being a 7yr ole's birthday party a few weeks ago, and having a physical fight with a random family for no reason. Not to mention all the times he has trapped me against things and threatened to fuck me up or kill me in front of my family. I have a lot of pent up anger towards him and no one has really stepped up and defended me and just let things slid because "he's family".
I know my word doesn’t mean much , but as someone who was abused heavily by an older sibling ( to the point they tried to end me multiple times as kids) and had been told by my relatives that they were just in a bad place and that when I grew up I’d look back and laugh because they’re family and they have to be forgiven because of that, I stand completely on your side. I’m just a random stranger on the internet but I had always wished as a kid that had someone tell me that I wasn’t in the wrong or crazy or alone for it or even worse, vengeful or holding a grudge ( think Medusa or a spiteful witch or whatever, both of which I’ve been compared to) so I hope knowing your not alone and your family sounds shitty and ignorant on the concept of sibling abuse dynamics makes you feel even the tiniest little bit better, and if it doesn’t I hope that karma comes for them. I hope karma comes for them regardless tbh.
As an older sibling who also has trauma, there’s _absolutely_ no excuse for anything you’ve described, and the fact he’s family just makes it worse. I hope you can get out of there and find people who know what the word “family” actually means, OP.
It's amazing how much of a ride this show was. It starts off like a parody of Davey and Goliath and then gets progressively darker and more messed up. Yet it somehow ends on a good note with Orel managing to become a well adjusted adult despite the crap he went through.
"Oh God..." "What's the matter?" "I hate myself..." is a clip that consistently hits me harder than any drama/ tragedy I have ever watched. It's just so real
To me this show give us a new perspective about the people.....and its that every person shows you a smile in her face but inside they have a very deep trauma inside that never could understand or know.....very unique show.
I wanted to note how intense the audio stimulus is in the nature episode you have clay screaming combined with the background music and the constant animal noises they perfectly depicted how orel was in that situation
Being a middle class son of protestant parents who had no business being together & should've divorced decades ago, this show hits really close to home. I'm glad it came out at exactly the right time in my life right when I was entering a relationship with the woman who would become my wife. I was able to draw comparisons to my own upbringing and talk with her about the poison that had been slowly drip-fed to me for years. Now I have a son of my own and I can safely say that will never happen to him. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
8:52 This is my first time hearing about this show and it really hit me. I wasn't in her situation But the way she described how people who hurt you and say mean things and act like you don't have emotions.
Clay's and Blabarta's endless aruging is much like my parents. I think that show does a good job depicting unhealthy/toxic marriages and so many more problems that takes place in the world.
I feel really bad for nurse bendy and ms.secondopinionson. A victim and the child of a victimizer. And the way clays mother believed god saved clay when she induced all her miscarriages
clay makes me extremely grateful for the dad i have. i know what other kids my age go through, the monster they endure, and i wish they’d never had to go through it to begin with. my dad loves me. he’s wants the best for me, and i know i wouldn’t have the strength to fight back if he ever became one of those monsters. my hearts goes out to all of you who had to experience the trauma of a horrible father, and i truly wish you all are doing better, or will feel better once it ends
This claymation was amazing at depicting the desperate wanting between Clay and Danielle. You really feel and see the point of view of each of them and their heartbreak at Clay choosing to keep up a facade over Danielle and Danielle just coping with the scraps he gets just to be in Clay’s life. In the end when Danielle ends things when Clay finally was ready to choose after far too long… ouch.
I won’t go into to much detail but Alone will always be the most painful for me. Nurse Bendys prayer hits me every time. I was sadly in a similar position to her in a past relationship and I felt so unbelievably helpless. But I got out and I’m getting better and stronger every single day. If you are in a similar space please know that it will get better and you will never be alone in this world. Stay safe my friends ❤️
I knew Orel would be a great parent as he truly lived an eventful life: he was a crackhead, a pimp, cheater, liar, a bully, a rgapest, a reckless baby daddy, he killed and he was shot...he experienced everything under the sun
I watched a few episodes of this in my preteens because I thought it would be like robot chicken (which only a preteen could enjoy). Boy was I wrong, and im glad I got bored with it fast.
As someone who's mom is abusive and an alcoholic, Clay's breakdown was all too familiar. Clay in general but especially in the nature episode reminds me a lot of my mother. I remember once she fell and broke our glass table and got a black eye, and blamed it on our cats for "tripping her". She always blames things on us or our cats. Clays representation is very accurate to real life alcoholics and or abusive parents. (Sorry for my bad grammar, I'm Norwegian. ❗️❗️)
Me watching Nurse Bendy's son beat up his elderly doctor father the first time, with the daughter not bothering to stop it: wtf no! Me watching it the 2nd time, after fully realizing what the father must have done to Nurse Bendy given all the context clues: git him.
i loved how orel had an overall positive attitude then at times we saw him feeling fear and hopelessness. it really brings this darker meaning to the whole entire show, no matter how kind u are, no matter how positive your intentions are, bad things are always going to happen. i wish i could reach through the screen and adopt this kid💔
The death/vision scenes in Grounded were really painful to watch, since I used to have dreams that sorta played out like that due to trauma related to religion. Those scenes nearly broke me.
tbh this is all Moral's mother fault, she got her husband addicted to Alcohol, cheated on him, and she doesn't even like him. She is the reason why her family's life is horrible.
She definitely isn’t a saint. She’s done a lot wrong and pushed Clay down the side of alcoholism, but that doesn’t change that Clay himself has done terrible things of his own accord. The blame train can go back forever: Clay is bad because of Bloberta, Bloberta is bad because of her family, her family probably hated her because of some other issue. Its ones responsibility to change, Clay is just as much at fault as Bloberta is
It's so fucked up seeing that the reason why Clays siblings were never born was because of his mothers reckless behavior and bad habits... Even more so when Clay was too Naive to realize that it was her fault.

The Nature Episode’s Had me so genuinely Upset. My dad was emotionally abusive and parts of the way Clay Treated Orel are things i can relate to. I have never been so pissed at a character since i was like 7 years old. It had me so upset that I had to take a walk afterwards and calm myself down. In a lot of ways i felt like Orel. Clay made me feel like that sad, scared, and incapable child again, just like i was when my dad was around. Props to the writing and voice acting absolutely incredible.

I really love that through it all, it's revealed Orel grew up to be a well adjusted adult.
That's one of the best things about Morel Orel. I was so worried that the show would end and either A. Not show what happened to Orel, or B. That Orel would grow up and be like Clay. To see that Orel broke the cycle of abuse and became a good man actually made me tear up a little.

His childhood played a big part and he’s the one who decided to continue drinking after one night of trying it with his date. How could she have known he’d turn into an alcoholic? She and her father both drank and it helped them cope, but for Clay it made him worse. Don’t get me wrong she obviously messed up big time and her manipulation was screwed up but we can’t put all the blame on her by any means.

One thing I love about this show is how it's still a normal adult comedy show, but it still touches on sensitive topics like religious trauma, neglectful parents, sexual assault trauma, etc

I cant even explain it in words, I've dealt with people who have alcohol addiction and this is the most scarily good depiction of that and it sends chills down my spine seeing this. It is such a clever way to show the cycle of abuse, Clay literally perpetuates it throughly by doing to Orel what his father did to him meanwhile Stopframe, who for all the show has been as heinous as everybody else, puts a stop to it. He rejects Clay and does good for Orel.

It’s terrifying to see ANY parent turn into a different person who scares you, not just alcoholic. What also hurts and makes the scene feel real is how Orel yells “it’s because you become a bad person when you drink!”. Both Carolyn Lawrence’s voice acting in that scene AND the fact that it sounds like something a real kid would say just adds to the raw emotion.
For Clay's breakdown in Nature, something I never see anyone talk about is how his rant makes it sound like Bloberta forced him into conceiving Orel with her. Of course he could be lying, but considering Bloberta's obsession with having the perfect family image, well...

Even in the fucked up moments they inject a bit of comedy. Like in the crack episode, I still say "I'm jonesin' here" to myself all the time. And the scene where Doughy kills Orel. The way he says "bye orel" always makes me laugh for some reason
I like that they inject that same subtle humor in the deep moments that are wholesome too. Like when Nurse Bendy is reconnecting with her son and he says she'd make a good librarian, and she says "I'm not smart enough to...give people books." Like it's so vulnerable and honest but the wording also makes me chuckle.

You know, back when Orel was doing drugs I thought it was more fucked up how his dad spanked him for using slang over doing actual drugs and assaulting his employer. Unsurprisingly he got worse
I remember that being the setup for the whole first season I think. Orel does something legitimately terrible and his dad spanks him for some unrelated reason. There's an episode where he tries to beat up some other kids and his dad spanks him because he didn't let his friends participate in beating up the other kids.
Watching S3E2 after thinking about how Clay found “love” in his dad thinking he was worth beating really hits hard
It explains the way he acts in so many later scenes. Like when he tells Orel " hate away, sister" in the nature episodes, or tries to goad the other men into beating him up in the bar. He's so desperate for someone to validate his existence by stopping to focus on him, even if it's with anger or violence.
it shows in his negligence of shapey as well, as he doesn't love his illegitimate son enough to hit him as he does with orel, showing in his own twisted way that he loves his son.

I’m so glad people are actually putting clips up and realizing how powerful season 3 as a whole is. The little satirical black comedy that called out most nucular family archetypes that just get swept under the rug. Even Clay as the only Antagonist in the series speaks a lot of volumes as he went from a comedic sitcom Father Figure that was somewhat stable in Season 1 to a deplorable Monster at his own hands and actions of alcoholism. If anything Moral Orel turned into a cautionary timale warning the dangers and signs of an abusive family. Support Dino Stamatopoulos in anyway you want to by buying Moral Orel, giving Frankenhole [WAY more lighthearted of a comedy sketch then Moral Orel] or watch the film Anomalisa [I don not see people talk about this film EVER and it is JUST SO GOOD PLEASE WATCH IT], the art of Stop-Motion needs to be recognized more y’all don’t sleep on Dino after Moral Orel’s cancellation🙏💫

Agreed, especially in this day and age when a lot of people seem to romanticize the "old ways" and nuclear families of the past. The show really shows the problems of that time and the trauma people dealt with, except back then you were expected to shut your mouth or you didnt have a choice because you were financially dependent on the abusers

The nature episodes made me have to take a break from the show. When Clay said *"I don't remember it, so therefore it's not my fault".* after shooting Orel hit too close to home. Nothing like realizing the person you're supposed to admire is a horrible person. And then Clay's monologue in Sacrifice practically spelled out my dad's issues.
Yeah, “I don’t remember it, so therefore it’s not my fault” is basically my moms motto. It really hurts having her say and do awful shit and even now while in therapy she still denies everything or “she didn’t remember it that way” so she never takes responsibility or apologizes or changes because *she* doesn’t remember there being any problems.
It hurts having her blame my trauma on me.

The nurse bendy scenes really get to me. It's so incredibly raw in emotion and I connect so hard, feeling wary of the next person because everytime i trusted they wouldn't be like the last they were.
Nurse Bendy deserved so much better than everyone gave her.
I like to think that influences like Stopframe and Piercing Lady (whose name i should really go back and learn) and his Grandpa are part of why Orel eventually turned out ok despite all the madness. Like, even though his moments with them were relatively brief, they planted the seed of showing him what it's like to be a not-awful person who thinks for themselves and can spend time with someone without manipulation or a selfish agenda.

That as flawed as your life and you have been you can still put and end to it and choose to be better. That just like them, Orel choose to end the cycle.
Sometimes it only takes one kind person to turn someone’s whole life around.
Notice that they're all considered outsiders in moralton as well. The people that fit in the least in moralton are the ones who had the best influences on orel.
It kinda parallels with how Jesus hung out with sex workers and beggars, the outsiders in the Bible times, more than he did the most pious and socially accepted members of society. And here we have orel whose best qualities were informed by his atheist grandfather, a piercing covered lesbian who works at a sex shop, and a gay man who unbeknownst to orel has been carrying an affair with his dad for longer than orel's been alive.
They all have their flaws just as the sex workers and beggars did (being a sex worker or poor and homeless aren't personality flaws btw) , like with grandpa puppington he was a bad father to clay which turned out to be a domino effect that reached orel, Stephanie who pierced the junk of a minor without parental consent (still isn't the worst among the three), and coach stopframe carrying on an affair with orel's own dad and not caring about the damage he's done to orel's family, but even those flaws don't turn out to make these individuals into people who hurt orel with their direct influence. whereas orel's parents personality flaws do turn them into people that hurt orel with their direct influence.

"Alone" was such a dark episode, I don't think the show should've been cancelled because of it. But holy shit- the part where nurse (I forgot her name my bad) was crying and yelling about how "hubby" was different and that he wasn't supposed to be like the others disturbed me a lot, especially because in my opinion, she was acting like a younger age. Trying to act like she was innocent again, it was like she got her innocence taken away AGAIN. So in my opinion, that is the most disturbing part of that episode, especially if you really look at the smaller details and understand the meaning behind it.

They did a good job portraying a woman coping with trauma the best way she could. And how having that coping mechanism taken from her nearly broke her. It was heart wrenching and made Joe beating his abusive rapist father all the more satisfying

My parents marriage wasn't really too dissimilar to Oral's family, some of the major differences where it was a case of husband abuse; woman can be abusive towards men/spouse/boyfriends as well. And my father is actually willing to learn from his mistakes, my mother doesn't want to learn.
My father did have moments where his bipolarity was out of control and took a few steps too far but he still never hit a woman, she was bipolar as well but my father handled his symptoms far better; she's also anorexic, meaning her bodyweight is often inconsistent but heavily leaning on not eating enough as well so very weak as well.
For me it's the opposite. My mom is willing to learn from her mistakes, as for my dad.. well he doesn't like being told he's wrong. At all. If you even give him the slightest hint that he might be in the wrong, he will go off on you. I hope your family situation gets better though and try to talk to someone you trust about it

They they argued, they shouted, they cried, they almost fought right in front of me
I was about 8 years old when my mother started telling me disgusting things about their relationship and extra-marital relationships (sexual and couple arguments) and it made me horrified, but the older I get more I am used to it
She have a terrible past with SA and R*pe and p*do and for that I never really had a intimate moment with my dad or uncles and I'm really paranoid
It kinda doesn't metter because I already was SA in school (by my classmates)
They got a little better now but the problems didn't stop, I'm about to turn 14 and I still cry when someone is screaming near or to me

The scene with Clay drinking in the woods always reminds me of the day my mom got drunk at a park and almost killed herself, my brother, and I when she attempted to drive us home. We were in hospital for months after that wreck and I was left homeless at age 9 for almost a year. Last thing I told her was "I don't think you should be driving, mom" and she reacted in a very similar way to Clay during his meltdown.

That episode was supposed to cause discomfort over how the three moralton women cope with their traumas over sexual abuse which inevitably cause the cutting board and got the show cancelled over this very episode since it literally was too depressing to air.
When Nurse Bendy screams “NOOOO!” after Hubby falls on her, that sounded like a real scream. It’s also sad to see her sobbing in the corner because Hubby falling on her in a suggestive pose and accidentally getting milk spilled on her (which is symbolic of a certain male bodily fluid…) caused her trauma to flare up.
Yet somehow they manage to introduce comedy in that scene and other dramatic ones.

Clay's childhood seemed super sad to me, also seeing his attitudes as a father, it shows that I always needed therapy but never took it.
The fact that I have to deal with my abusive drunk older brother doesn't phase me watching any drunk scenes in this at all. Brian (I'm not gonna give him any mercy after all he has done) is the type of guy to show up at a event, the last one being a 7yr ole's birthday party a few weeks ago, and having a physical fight with a random family for no reason. Not to mention all the times he has trapped me against things and threatened to fuck me up or kill me in front of my family. I have a lot of pent up anger towards him and no one has really stepped up and defended me and just let things slid because "he's family".
I know my word doesn’t mean much , but as someone who was abused heavily by an older sibling ( to the point they tried to end me multiple times as kids) and had been told by my relatives that they were just in a bad place and that when I grew up I’d look back and laugh because they’re family and they have to be forgiven because of that, I stand completely on your side. I’m just a random stranger on the internet but I had always wished as a kid that had someone tell me that I wasn’t in the wrong or crazy or alone for it or even worse, vengeful or holding a grudge ( think Medusa or a spiteful witch or whatever, both of which I’ve been compared to) so I hope knowing your not alone and your family sounds shitty and ignorant on the concept of sibling abuse dynamics makes you feel even the tiniest little bit better, and if it doesn’t I hope that karma comes for them. I hope karma comes for them regardless tbh.
As an older sibling who also has trauma, there’s _absolutely_ no excuse for anything you’ve described, and the fact he’s family just makes it worse. I hope you can get out of there and find people who know what the word “family” actually means, OP.
It's amazing how much of a ride this show was. It starts off like a parody of Davey and Goliath and then gets progressively darker and more messed up. Yet it somehow ends on a good note with Orel managing to become a well adjusted adult despite the crap he went through.
Voice acting and stop motion animation are really good, they convey the emotions and personalities perfectly. I really enjoy stop motion.

The flies that gather around when a character is exhibiting degenerate behavior is such a nice touch.

To me this show give us a new perspective about the people.....and its that every person shows you a smile in her face but inside they have a very deep trauma inside that never could understand or know.....very unique show.

I wanted to note how intense the audio stimulus is in the nature episode you have clay screaming combined with the background music and the constant animal noises they perfectly depicted how orel was in that situation
Binge watching this kind of dulled down just how messed up some of it was. So watching this complication is really putting it all into perspective.

Being a middle class son of protestant parents who had no business being together & should've divorced decades ago, this show hits really close to home. I'm glad it came out at exactly the right time in my life right when I was entering a relationship with the woman who would become my wife. I was able to draw comparisons to my own upbringing and talk with her about the poison that had been slowly drip-fed to me for years. Now I have a son of my own and I can safely say that will never happen to him.

Clay's and Blabarta's endless aruging is much like my parents. I think that show does a good job depicting unhealthy/toxic marriages and so many more problems that takes place in the world.
I feel really bad for nurse bendy and ms.secondopinionson. A victim and the child of a victimizer. And the way clays mother believed god saved clay when she induced all her miscarriages
clay makes me extremely grateful for the dad i have. i know what other kids my age go through, the monster they endure, and i wish they’d never had to go through it to begin with. my dad loves me. he’s wants the best for me, and i know i wouldn’t have the strength to fight back if he ever became one of those monsters. my hearts goes out to all of you who had to experience the trauma of a horrible father, and i truly wish you all are doing better, or will feel better once it ends
This claymation was amazing at depicting the desperate wanting between Clay and Danielle. You really feel and see the point of view of each of them and their heartbreak at Clay choosing to keep up a facade over Danielle and Danielle just coping with the scraps he gets just to be in Clay’s life. In the end when Danielle ends things when Clay finally was ready to choose after far too long… ouch.

I won’t go into to much detail but Alone will always be the most painful for me. Nurse Bendys prayer hits me every time. I was sadly in a similar position to her in a past relationship and I felt so unbelievably helpless. But I got out and I’m getting better and stronger every single day. If you are in a similar space please know that it will get better and you will never be alone in this world. Stay safe my friends ❤️
I’ve never seen the full show, but I’ve seen scenes and I’ve seen the hunting scene a few times and it always leaves me feeling raw.
I knew Orel would be a great parent as he truly lived an eventful life: he was a crackhead, a pimp, cheater, liar, a bully, a rgapest, a reckless baby daddy, he killed and he was shot...he experienced everything under the sun

It’s really bad but with the amount of stuff preteens have access to because of social media makes it worse and more easier to access

As someone who's mom is abusive and an alcoholic, Clay's breakdown was all too familiar. Clay in general but especially in the nature episode reminds me a lot of my mother. I remember once she fell and broke our glass table and got a black eye, and blamed it on our cats for "tripping her". She always blames things on us or our cats. Clays representation is very accurate to real life alcoholics and or abusive parents. (Sorry for my bad grammar, I'm Norwegian. ❗️❗️)

i loved how orel had an overall positive attitude then at times we saw him feeling fear and hopelessness. it really brings this darker meaning to the whole entire show, no matter how kind u are, no matter how positive your intentions are, bad things are always going to happen. i wish i could reach through the screen and adopt this kid💔
The death/vision scenes in Grounded were really painful to watch, since I used to have dreams that sorta played out like that due to trauma related to religion. Those scenes nearly broke me.

She definitely isn’t a saint. She’s done a lot wrong and pushed Clay down the side of alcoholism, but that doesn’t change that Clay himself has done terrible things of his own accord. The blame train can go back forever: Clay is bad because of Bloberta, Bloberta is bad because of her family, her family probably hated her because of some other issue. Its ones responsibility to change, Clay is just as much at fault as Bloberta is
It's so fucked up seeing that the reason why Clays siblings were never born was because of his mothers reckless behavior and bad habits... Even more so when Clay was too Naive to realize that it was her fault.

The Nature Episode’s Had me so genuinely Upset. My dad was emotionally abusive and parts of the way Clay Treated Orel are things i can relate to. I have never been so pissed at a character since i was like 7 years old. It had me so upset that I had to take a walk afterwards and calm myself down. In a lot of ways i felt like Orel. Clay made me feel like that sad, scared, and incapable child again, just like i was when my dad was around. Props to the writing and voice acting absolutely incredible.
