I would've been immediately suspicious seeing another vehicle pulling up close beside me, facing the opposite direction in a drive-thru. That was an instant red flag.
Now how was she supposed to see that? The vehicle was behind her. The only question I have is whether it’s legal to shoot that criminal with a gun if you have one in your car.

Something similar happened to my friend and it took months to recover everything. And having a broken window in your car makes you more of a target. It's both a mental issue and a physical issue she now has to go through because of this robber.

We need to make personal theft carry steeper legal consequences. Not only will that lock these people away for longer, it will add motivation to cops to seeking them down.

I’m so sorry this happened to you. Please everyone use this as a reminder not to keep your Social Security cards in your vehicle or purse. I did the same thing when I traveled back east to see my dad and my purse was stolen out of my car with mine and my daughters Social Security cards.

No country in the world jails more people than the US. Not even close. People clearly have consequences. We live in a country that has people like you that vote in people that claim to solve this problem and only make it worse.
Thieves will watch people at the bank. Sometimes they will even go into the bank to see if you are getting cash and they will follow you until they know they got you. When you go to the bank, pay attention to your surroundings, especially after you leave. And call the cops even if you are unsure someone is following you. It's a crazy new world out here.
If someone has to call the police, I sincerely hope that they will answer the phone, especially 911, rumor is it takes sometimes 5 minutes to get someone to answer the phone even for 911 it's unacceptable.

Be aware of where you are at all times. I get it. You are in your own car, with windows up and door locked. I do the same, but also you need to be aware of where you are and who is around you. This can happen to anyone. And she is totally spot on when she says,, "get a job...." I always think that when I hear about this sort of crime. Our justice system is weak and criminals know that all they will get, if they get caught is a slap on the wrist.....

having worked as a sergeant in hpd robbery for many years but being retired for along time...all i can say is houston has gone to hell....i do not know current police dhief but i do know crime is out of control...back in the old days we would do zero tolerance in high crime ares but i am sure woke democrats will not do this....

You have no idea the things I’ve seen, the evil that some people are capable of. You’ll eventually let your guard down around the wrong person just because they are of a race you don’t feel threatened by and next thing you know.. well I’m sure you can use your imagination. I wear a cross body purse so it’s nothing in my seat, or I put my purse under the seat out of visibility. This crime is horrible and it’s only getting worse.😡 it’s to the point my daughters and I have steering wheel club, AirTags ,and key fobs for our cars and we park in camera view at home.

A few years back my co workers witnessed a man get decapitated in the drive through by a man that robbed him, he pulled him out the car and the robber closed the door not realizing the man caught on the door with the belt, he beheaded the man and decapitated his body as he drove away.
I never go through drive thru. I have seen so much happen to people in the drive thru even people try to get in their car. I'm in and out quick into the actual building that's safer. I don't hang around in a car to be a sitting duck.

I never put my purse on the seat. I either put it under my legs while driving or in my trunk. I try not to go through a drive thru line. Very cautious about that too. I lived in Miami for over 41 years. That's where you have to be aware of your surroundings at all time. To this day, I act like I still live there. Smh

This reminds me to be vigilant in paying attention to my surroundings, coming and going from home to work to banks to grocery stores, etc. I am not paranoid but travel alone most of the time. It's definitely impossible to catch everything. However, be mindful of going to the bank, especially if it's business hours. These people have a team watching your every move so it's important to change routine from time to time even if it seems inconvenient. Safety first. Women traveling alone are targeted.
Any transitional area please be cautious. From the bank and even when leaving home at 5am for work. This is really heartfelt because you can tell she is a hard working woman who was victimized.
Idk about you guys but if i thought i was being shot at my reaction would be to drive the hell off. Getting out the car and laying down is the most dumbest thing i have ever heard.

Never keep your purse on the seat next to you. Get a decoy purse and wallet for the seat and have your real wallet in a traveler's bag against your body. The decoy purse can have a hairbrush, pen, etc. and $10 or so in the wallet. No cards, no personal info.
