- So we finally got the GTI inspected on a ramp. Big thanks to the guys at VW Solihull for offering to get it done, quite surprised at what we found. Hopefully next step is to get it on a dyno.
Plenty more to come on the GTI. Make sure to SUBSCRIBE to keep up to date.

Thoughts on the condition?
Perfect but rip soon
Not bad just minor faults that are common
For 200k bro you can’t really complain I’ve seen cars with 80k in a lot worse condition all just matters on previous owners with no expense spared there should be no problems just keep on top of most things it’ll do you easy another 50k hopefully with no serious issues they’re pretty well built cars from factory apart from rust n some oil leaks but same with every car bro
Yes cuzzy bro👌🏽
Hi hamza, I was expecting that as I said on the first video dirty engine is always a good sign that means they're not trying to hide any oil leakage
A vw tech telling a customer to modify their car instead of getting vw dealer parts 😂😂😂
Scott Champion great guy 😂
You get parts from dealer, only if you have a business. Private individuals, should buy from third party reseller.
MSi GS70 6QE I have nothing against it. I don’t see why every dealer is like this.
that is common. VW doesn't hold on to parts for very long for discontinued platforms. Ask anyone that had a Corrado in the 90's. Almost everything was NLA before the 90's ended and the Corrados production run ended in 95.
Thanks for featuring me in the video, really enjoyed he experience and can’t wait to work with you further on this project!
Darnit Productions I love what I do and Volkswagen offer an incredible level of training and development which I’m always taking full advantage of. Thank you for the kind words!
No problem Jack! Thank you for giving everyone a good look at the underside of the car, really appreciate it 👍🏼
@@TRHamzaDon't mean to appear nosey. But how much did it cost for the inspection. Curious for my own GTI.
Nice one, Jack. Really informative 👍🏾
No way, Jack! You used to work in Walsall College didn't you? Clued up guy back then too, fair play mate.
The tech is a pro... a top employee with proper knowledge. VW needs to always keep this guy working for them.

what area?

I loved how the inspection went, the VW guy with the glasses told a lot of interesting things. He also should start a youtube channel.
Graziano Laudisio ha I’d love to start a channel, just don’t know if I’d be able to keep up a good flow of content or what people would even want.
@@Joutenshi You will figure that out :-)
@@Joutenshi DO IT. You've got some great knowledge to offer the kids. 😂👍
@@muhammadarfan7113 I was considering starting a channel around the BMW E30 Turbo ive been building however ive had it suggested to me that people would like the functions of these vehicles and technology explained in a straight forward manner,. Who knows, ill possibly do something later in the year!
@@Joutenshi You could do the E30 build and then whenever you don't feel like that you could discuss the tech and stuff. Good to have variation on you YT channel like Hamza. You seem knowledgeable and a decent guy so I would defo like to watch your vids
Proper car channel this, miles and miles ahead of Lee Lockwood's utter bollocks
king Roz all i hear on his channel is “ eyyyy lads” every 5 seconds
That tech with the glasses is the definition of being knowledgeable and loving what you do. Loving what you do will always build an incredible amount of knowledge.
I’m learning so much. I appreciate the content and thank you for taking time to make this video. Thanks.
No problem, glad you’re enjoying the content 👍🏼
The service guy is much more passionate than my VW service tech. Could I please swap? Lol
If you are in FL i got you ;)
This guy certainly knows his stuff. Great vid 👍
Great inspection!!
This video should be shared on every VW forum, it's so well done!
Knowledgeable and honest tech. I’m liking these new GTI vids a lot. Great work 👍
Great content! Very informative. Really helps me out with my build.
Great lad Jack. Definitely knows his stuff! We need more mechanics like him!
I have a mk6 gti that’s a good 200k + miles but watching these videos still get me excited! Keep doing your thing it’s paying off!!
Thanks guys, great video full of useful info! VW dude, great job man. Wish more of them could be as helpful as you are. 💪🏼

Excellent video 👍🏽 such a genuine open honest lad. You can tell he knows his stuff and very passion. I wish I had the same vw guy in London. Surprisingly shocked how the golf is in that good condition 🙂
another great video mate, keep it up bro, loving the high mileage gti series.
Glad you’re enjoying it mate 👌🏼
What I like about this dude he wasn’t up selling or anything like that he was straight to the point even advising you to get modified parts lol he defo knows his cars top lad 👍🏼
You have changed my mind completely roll on the time when i get my gti
I wish I can get to meet same kind of people/mechanics in my region. Thx for the video.
Shot game: take a shot everytime he says "yeah"
Damn. 😂

With any luck 😂
Yeah.
Update: i blacked out, woke up to a pool a vomit
Every time i watch i go straight to autotrader, looking at the high milers.. Interesting!
Always look forward to this.
Just discovered this channel and binging through the videos...great work and enjoying all the content 👍🏾
Glad to hear, thank you 👍🏼
Just found your channel mate, brilliant stuff. As a fellow high-mileage Mk5 owner I salute you 😂
That guy knew his stuff and some sound advice about what's best for its future . Great clip.
Awesome video man! So informative thanks!
I am enjoying these videos you are making about this high milage GTi. I enjoyed hearing the tech recommend aftermarket tuning parts like Powerflex, Superpro, BC Coilovers, Milltek etc...
Another great video - really informative and proves high mileage cars have plenty of miles in them if they’ve been cared for.
Thank you - Very true, all about the maintenance history 👍🏼
Bought a mk5 GTI on Thurs. Been tempted for a while but this series has made me just go for it 👌
That guy knows his stuff.. And seems to be passionate about what he does.
I love my job and always strive to keep learning and offer out what i know. thankyou for the kind words!
Yoooo seeing you at The VW garage was madness🔥🔥. Love all your videos mate! Keep it up!!!!
Thank you mate! 🙌🏼 Plenty to come!
Love it! Keep it coming bro 👊
Plenty on the way bro 🙏🏼
You’re definitely selling these Mk5’s to me.
MK5 takeover
MK5's are one of the best engines and chassis VW have ever made to date....And..SEAT Leon FR's & Skoda Ocavia VRS's on a 54/59 plate..are cousins of the MK5 GTI....
Just Sum Guy nah. Mk4 with a 1.8t
@@tiko5876 The Mk4's were good also quality..but only in the 25th Anniversary/R32/V6 4Motion....
Just Sum Guy I know they can be a bitch and I won’t act like I haven’t done work to keep my mk4 running buuuuttt. I just love the Jetta and golf mk4 body, coolest looking Jetta they’ve made when lowered fitted, and with some basic tuning I was pushing 23lbs boost, 410whp... I do love VW though, wouldn’t be surprised if I ended up in a newer golf some day :D
Great little series 👌🏼
Hamza ma man, this was a brilliant watch mate. VW are just different class. Very interesting. 🤙🏼💯
Great video. The guy seems to know his stuff. I'm looking forward to seeing the build progress 👌
Thank you!
Love this series of videos.
The quality of tyre fitted to an older car is usually a good indicator of how well maintained it is. Bridgestone Winters on this one, cars mechanical condition matches that perfectly! This Golf is turning out to be a very good buy.
VW Johnson Solihull - my 2003 Polo 1.4 petrol massively taken care at this garage. This tec guy is awesome! I don’t know why I don’t get the same service
Quality car and quality video. I'm so tempted to go down this route too. The car just looks solid and high quality.
Great video. Jack the VW technician one of the best I have seen in a long time. Looks like a visit to Solihull soon. 👍

Nice one bro, gti series getting interesting, keep it up fam.
MK5 GTi is a great car. I think for the money you can’t beat it. I got a MK7 for a daily but if I was on a budget I would go with the MK5.
absolutely love this 👌🏾
Thats awesome they let you film the car up close in the bay
Very interesting video and wow a main dealer technician who actually knows what he is talking about 🤣 joking aside you should get it dynoed before thr fixes and then get it dynoed after the mods too if possible kinda like the evolve guys are doing with the rs3
Dyno video is part of the plan, just trying to arrange a slot at a tuner I’m using
Would love to see the DYNO runs as stock before mods go on.
Jack really knows his stuff. Bought a brand new Polo GTi in 2015 and still loving it. Great cars, bit of a 'Sleeper' as my mate puts it lol. Keep up the videos
Polo GTi is dog crap
@@ACIDGameReviews thx for this constructive reply... 3 years late lol.
My man is talking like you're going to go all out with the car in terms of mods! Bleeding mods will be worth more than the car itself!
Really interesting project.. makes me want to go out and buy an old German and get involved. Keep it up man
Just watching your old videos and have to say this VW tech guy is really good
Thanks! I do try.
looking forward to seeing future videos from this top technician
Rust is more so the enemy of the mk5 than anything else , great videos keep up the good work , I have an edition 30 this is the only video look forward to on CZcams at the minute.
I've got an 08 GLI, same FSI engine, 220k mi, original clutch. I had the boost hose leaks too (replaced them with Forge silicone ones). My oil leak was from the gasket at the oil cooler/oil filter housing. PCV/thermostat failed once before 100k. I replaced the PCV again before 200k for preventative maintenance. Car does burns 1 quart ever 1000 miles, which I suspect led to the cat being completely clogged (had to get it replaced as there was low boost/misfires/barely ran/then died completely).
Other than that, regular oil changes, air/fuel filters, spark plus/coils, and timing belt/water pump service. Brake pads have only been replaced once as they seem to last forever.
The mechanic at vw knows what he’s on about, giving the best possible advice, not trying to sell vw parts.
PCV definitely been changed you can tell by the parts on the pcv itself. As for the oil pick up the revision part allows for a alternative for the oil to get to the engine If the main pick up is blocked or starved.
Great video mate was thinking of getting a GTI myself 👍
That GTI is perfect on the Track bone stock for beginners
Very informative. Defo feel alot more comfy buying a higher millage GTI with full history. Currently looking for my first project lol. Fingers crossed. But yh man kool video👌🏽💯
The VW tech is a credit to VW, he knows his stuff!!!
Thank you!
Thank you hamza
Wow absolutely blown away by this guys knowledge

this mechanic is a very knowledgeable guy i am very impressed
If you get the right blockoff plate for the PCV it isn't actually a blockoff plate. It actually just redirects everything through to the rear PCV hose, so it still breathes. The front PCV is only used at idle, anyways. So don't be afraid to block it off.. or "redirect it" to the rear.
For 2000 pounds, you got a screamin’ deal. IMO. What did they charge you for the inspection? Also, please enable CC. I missed about 50%of what he said. Other than that, you’re doing a FINE job.
Fantastic video.
I think you can go OTT with polly bushes, I had a s2 rs turbo which I replaced every bush with powerflex bushes and it made it a hard ride felt every bump also had a lot of vibrations, worth doing some but not all. Other than that great guy to share his inspection and be so honest 👍🏼
Fantastic video and series, congrats on 50K. You can also fit GOLF R MK7 calipers. I bought a black set and got them refurbed in red. I paid £110 for the calipers on Ebay.
My mk6 gti has 129k. And it always brings me down that it's got such a high mileage for its age, but I enjoy it alot. Under neath has little to no rust, suspesnion looks very clean, I put in new head gasket, exhaust and intake gasket, valve cover gasket, oil pump gasket, fuel injectors, spark plugs and coils, oil change before it's even near due, coolant flushed, full timing kit changed. And some mods I've done like cold air intake, cat back exhaust, Cobb AP, stage 2 clutch kit, gfb dv. So idk I think mileage is TECHNICALLY low.
This Jack is a top bloke you need to keep him close to you as he will help you get this car to where you want it to get it. Great video loved it 👍👍👍
Im more than happy to help Hamza with anything he may need with this project, i look forward to seeing where he goes next.
Great channel Hamza from a new subscriber! The GTI looks in good nick.Just the odd cosmetic flaw which is seen on most cars with half the mileage.
Thank you! Welcome to the channel 👍🏼
Learnt a few things in this vid 👍🏻
I expected more to be wrong with it to be honest, not bad at all
Good buy so far 😉 (Probs break next week lol)
TR Hamza better than the VW I just bought for sure
what is a "high mileage" golf? 300-400k miles? (i'm used to volvos. and moste of them is 200k+ and is "average" miles)
Quality advice for the bushes.
£1k spent on the mods, would make it a very nice, swift sure handling and braking gti
Knowledgable fella👍🏼
I like that mechanic, very positive
That mechanic is a beast!!!
why at 4:50 the vw says get rid of the 2nd catalyst?
So I actually fitted a pcv valve delete plate today as the oem pcv diaphragm had perished. Recomended from my local garage.. Now I'm being told not 2 delete it !! Does any one know if this delete will fuck my engine
Great job.
Superb !
Honestly I’d go with coil overs and power flex bushes , power flow/ miltek/ cobra exhaust and a decat down pipe and intake , s3 intercooler map fuel pump and it can be 300+bhp
Loving the build btw and so close to 50k!!
Bla Bla Bla basic ricer shit. Just for fucks sake keep a gti stock and it will be worth more
Shar he bought it to create content not for an investment opportunity
Jack used to work at Walsall college when I went about 4/5 years ago, small world man
Is the pcv valve the same thing as a divertor valve? If so would you not recommend changing it for a forge BOV?
WhoTookBen The PCV valve or positive crankcase ventilation valve is used to control crankcase pressure and allows these gases to be harmlessly burnt off in the inlet rather than venting to atmosphere.
A BOV is a blow of valve which allows unwanted manifold pressure to be vented to atmosphere on throttle shut off to prevent compressor stall, which is a whole other topic.
Personally I would advise sticking to recirculating valve for VW range vehicles, they’re designed to work this way and BOV’s can cause headaches with sophisticated engine management systems.
Should I buy a 2010 polo gti with 100k miles ?for 5 grand
Loving this series! next time you're at that VW dealer can you ask them about the cam chain and tensioner? (like how to tell if it needs doing etc.)
g s can chain and tensioner is a definite item on the to do list with any FSI engine however usually they will present themselves with a top end rattle on start up giving you a heads up that something may not be right, if in doubt book in for a health check and we can advise you on condition or at least put your mind at ease.
Didn't find it in the video. How much mileage did it have?
Where do you find these sik beats for your vids bro, btw love your vids big fan insha'Allah hopefully will meet you one day. Love this gti series.
Looks good underneath for its age. Bit of rust proofing to keep it good should last a long time. Something like Krown rust proofing give a good guarantee and the look shiney when done.
Scott Brooks if im keeping a car ( ha ha) i tend to get em sprayed underneath with good old waxoil. Wifes golf 12yrs old and my passat 11 yrs. very little rust. I hope.
If you need any work doing on it you can use my ramp 👍🏽
Good videos.good work.
loved it.
Guys, can you count how many times Hamza said “Yeh” 😂🤣😂
great vid thank you i have a audi s3 180k may i ask what u paid for the gti please thank you
This is probably the only guy I'd 110% trust on my MK3.5 Leon!
Yeah you want to be careful with something exotic like that.
its in good hands matey !
Good vid!
