Well guys this is the first mod to my 2011 gti other than that trial tune last week. So far the cai has been great, hope you enjoy the unboxing this intake is great for removing allot of plastic from under the hood. When you rev with it on the noise it makes sounds amazing! this install should be good for any one with a 2008 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013
Watched this video about 60x this year in prep for for my intake. It has arrived. I went local with CTS. Thanks for help man never would tackle this project otherwise.
Most clear and easy installation tutorial out here
Yo I am so happy I found these videos and this playlist man. I needed help on my 2011 GLI and this is comprehensive and fun. Thank you man!
Awesome video man! Looking to try this out myself, you made it seem pretty darn easy to do
Nice work. You explained what you were doing well, you made it as simple as possible, you took your to put it together and explain as best you could then explained what you did. Not bad. Liked the video. Awesome work.
Good luck to you, and keep her running.
See you down the road.
Hey guys, how's it going, STAY TUNED
Thanks for posting this. It's gonna be a tremendous help for me later on today. 👍🏽
NOTE: A "T5" is not an ALLEN key, it is a TORX key (6-point star).
Thanks for this comment, legit learned something from this
thanks for the video! I`m gonna do the DSG oil change myself (first time, wish me luck) and I was trying to find a video on how to take out the air intake. Maybe I might just have to take out the battery only. I think the DSG filter cap is underneath the battery on my MK6...
stay tuned x300 lol. awesome help man. I'm putting in the apr soon.
Urbex you have your reply option off the reason i purchased the intake is because of the tune. When they tuned the car unitronic had it installed so i wanted to make.sure the software on then Ecu matchs the hardware they are making the software with
The sound got me crazy, you put de finger in the microfone every time! kkk
I know I'm late to the party, but thanks so much for this video. I would've been prodding away at my car for hours without it. I got the APR cold air intake; it's great. The car sounds better and responds to throttle quickerl. Plus, it looks cool as hell.
About 8 yrs late, ja ja ... These little hatchbacks are fun to drive.
Do know, they suffer from timing chain, tensioner, water pump, tensioner, oil pump, bad intake manifold, bad fuel pump, and all the above occur around 110k miles. If it is DSG, the flywheel goes bad around 140k because it uses a special clutch, and needs to be serviced every 60k or so.
Great video, new sub
you are so good at making these vids. just keep buying cars and sell them lol.
This vid made me laugh lol. STAY TUNED!!!! HAHA
hey do i need a tune after i install a new intake?
When your camerman covers the right mic @2:15 and then the left mic @2:40.
Do you recommend this intake over the apr one or a k&n or injen?
Will this be similiar to installing a CTS intake?
DUDE, Bruh, tone down the "Stay Tuned." Other then that nice video.
Kent Innes haha i usually edit it out i was pretty hung over when i edited this one haha
Drunk video editing is always a roulette, never know what color your going to land on and what it will be.
Whats wrong with Stay Tuned?
@Jay Bee He should suction in the URL to the description
Lmfao !!!!
What did you do as far as the secondary filter?
"You-nah-tronic, Ricky" (in bubble's voice)
How do i know what intake to get? Ecs says check if cbfa or ccta. Idk how to tell the difference
got this new unitek intake 🥴
what size torx bit is it for the airbox???
good job bro ;)
Also, where can i get bit drivers you had, I want magenetic T torx and allen, but don't know where to get. I have a 3/8" socket drive
+kirkferentzrocks in vancouver were im from we have princess auto and summit tools which is awesome
Bigger turbo, bigger intercooler, turbo back exhaust and other goodies will see one piece at a time
Hey! So I have a stock 2013 gti with this exact intake and no other mods unfortunatly I only hear this intake while driving and building boost around 3-4 k rpms I cannot hear the intake while sitting in the car just revving it at a stop , at a stop in neutral here is no noise, do I need a tune to hear more? Or is there something wrong with my car ? No CEL or anything just had the car fully inspected and no issues, intake sounds good while shifting in the higher rpms , but I was expecting more noise from this intake , thank you
Hey, I got an 08 GTI with basically the same air intake layout as the MK6. I've been debating whether a cold air intake would even help performance or not. If you notice where the air box pulls the air from through the grill, its further left than where the cold air filter sits. When I put my hand where the cold air intake would sit under my hood (same spot as yours), I can feel the air is hotter.
Being said, I am wondering if you actually noticed a performance difference or not. Perhaps there is some kind of boot to redirect the air flow from the grill further right towards the new cold air intake filter ? I don't know. I'm looking for as much feedback as possible from people who have installed these on their GTI's. Thanks in advance!
Alex Morrow i did notice a bit of performance from it and you get a sick noise from from every shift defintly sounds meaner
Just wondering, Im getting the same intake soon, how long did this take you start to finish? Thanks!
not long lol the video added more time
Hey I have a 2012 mk6 will the cold air intake work on my car and can you pls let me know where you ordered your one from thanks for your reply
Regards Clinton Bobbert
Clinton Bobbert I ordered mine from pg performance in canada BC. If your located in the states you can purchase it from unitronics website just put in your car info and will get you the right one
When do you plan to get the turbo-back? I really want to see more videos with the Unitronic exhaust.
its on order so should be out soon
Oh cool. Can't wait to see it!
Stay tuned for the next stay tuned
@ghostlyrich please help right at 2:00 you touch it ..what is that called ?? because in my 12 gti the top part keeps falling off and ithink I was driving one time when the Tube thing was exposed is that bad or detrimental? ??? I don't want my lil speedster injured 😩😩😢
ever figure this out? I've got a similar situation. What is it?
which website I can find it
You mentioned to keep the sensor clean but you still put it in the ground 🤦🏻♂️
great vid, but ur camera man had his hands over the mic a few times in the video it was very hard to hear u
I was waiting for him to tell us to turn bolts left to lossen them
so basically stay tuned and hello guys:)))
axios12 key tools to success
I have ready checking light on ....
The bolt is a T30 and mine is missing probably a mechanic stripped it or lost it
Dude, well done description of this job. I have a 14 passat 1.8t. I believe same engine as yours. Did you actually notice any improvement with the CAI?
& did you do any extra tunning? Or just the CAI
Andres Cordero now my cars running stage 2+ back then stock tune. It definitely allows you to hear the car breathing and sounds awesome! Don't expect to much of a HP gain its mainly for better airflow and sound
Hey guys i cant decide what should i buy, UNITRONIC OR CTS Cold air intake? What is better? please help and please respect.
I got a unitronic
Can you install cold air intake on your GTI without a tune???
Better to tune
Hey guys, stay tuned! -_- - Good video though.
I put an intake in mine and now I have a intake manifold sensor check engine light. Do you know why?
Need to do a stage 1 tune from intronic or apr
Alright thank you
thought you needed to disconnect the battery when fitting an intake so it resets the air mixture etc?
You can but the maf will give you a check engine light unless you do stage 1 tune
my check engine light is already on because of my exhaust so it ain’t gona make any difference haha
Yea that's removed with stage 1+ and or 2 lol I'm stage 2+ now
ghostlyrich i’ve got an intake coming this week so next week i’m going stage 2
Was there a big difference in the performance? How many hp did it increase approximately?
didn't increase to much hp but man that sound when your speeding up is to die for. like a dragon breathing under the hood
+ghostlyrich so cts and apr are better in the performance ?
+Ahmad Kawas Apr is fantastic and is well known. intakes from Apr and unitronic probably add about the same :) both are great intakes
Calls torx Allen key
Is that a mk6 bro ?
Yes
God I want a gti so bad, currently saving up and building credit
Tom from MySpace i’m in the same situation, did you get your gti?
do u actually need to remove all the pimping
how much should i spend on a good intake im not tryna spend too much
Just buy from a trusted company like Apr, unitronic, cps just done cheap out because cheap filters let particles in that damage your filter
*damage your engine
What does it add, other than different sounds? I'm asking because I'm considering putting CAI on my mk5 for more convenient access to different parts of the engine (no more that damn engine cover...) but other than the sound, what does it add to the engine?
It really doesn't not add much horsepower the vw stock intake is made quite well it's really just for looks and sound. Might add some horse on the top end but really it's looks and sound
@@ghostlyrich Suspected that. But for tuning, it's good, right? I mean when combined with other upgrades of course. And I think it should be well worth it if nothing more than to get rid of that engine cover 🤔😅
@@finnishfatman lol yes definitely do intake when you do stage one tune. Other wise it will give you check engine light until you tune
@@ghostlyrich It does? You wouldn't happen to know why? Wouldn't the car adjust its ECU for different airflow itself without tune?
@@finnishfatman mine didn't until I tuned it
lol "Unitech"
is it the cold air intake that makes it sound like that? I just bought a gti and I don't know where to start?
Dylan Beaudin yes it makes that sound.can hear it breath. I would do intake and stage 1 the stage one tune makes a massive difference and makes it super fun to drive
ghostlyrich thanks man I actually just got off the phone with somebody to learn about stage 1 plus hahaha
Dylan Beaudin nice! if you talked to unitronics you probably talked to John he's a really cool guy
I'm in Alberta I talked with somebody in Calgary! How much was the cold air intake for You? If I may ask
Dylan Beaudin it's been goo no problems here. once I put in a k04 turbo the car sounds like a dragons breathing haha
T25
what I can do
David k Garcia you need stage one tune to get rid of the light it needs the tune to adapt to the new increased air flow
ghostlyrich thanks brother
Now you are sucking in more ambient air. That equates to less hp..
Your camera man keeps covering the mic holes for the stereo on your camera on like every video.......... lol First left side gets covered , then the right , then back to the left :|
lol newby camera man sorry
You can't tell till you have headphones on lol
Be sooooo careful with this sensor coz It’s so easily damaged guys.........Removes air filter box contains and MAF sensor and fucks it onto the ground. Haha!
#StayTuned lmaoooooooooo
lol I usually do that as a point to edit but I was teaching a buddy to edit. totally dropped the ball haha we were also a few wobbly pops down haha
VWR600 is better.
Unitec haha..
A lot of “stay tunes”…🤷♂️
Sabliminal messages to always tune your ride
Come on boy ur exited for nothing
Really imprecise descriptions this one, that one, these, that thing, over there, those ones, that stuff, like those - yeesh -- too much on the fly video. Underexposed for the most part. Poorly planned.
