Small tasks always turn into a big one lol
TR Hamza i JUST did this in my Mk5 GTI and ran into the same problems. BE CAREFUL WITH SUBFRAME BOLTS! Snapped 3 on those bushing brackets and had to replace the whole subframe. Also hit everything with penetrating oil an hour minimum before you hit a bolt or nut, it does wonders. Good luck!
Also gloves and eye protection will make your life much better.
ponchomansam Ain’t they big bolts what did you tighten them with?
Please use safety goggles / glasses, that dust/sand or shavings can get into your eyes
Yes cuzzy bro 👌🏽👌🏽
Respect to those lads for helping you out. Still some top lads around.
Fair play mate, good to see your learning and being honest rather than bullshiting your way through it 👍👍
Got myself a mk5 gti project car after watching your videos, please keep plenty of gti videos coming, cheers Marcus.
Awesome man 👌🏼
out of all the nasty world theres still good people around in society
Hamza fair play for trying bro, I would recommend getting a technician to work with you on these little projects will help you about alot and make it more enjoyable for you. If you were in London I would volunteer 👍🏽
Yeah It would be cool to have more people around for more complex stuff. Helps if I get stuck, as Im still learning
TR Hamza 👀
Least you're cracking on with it, unlike some people who talk the talk then sell the car and make excuses . .. anyway, that's how it goes on these cars, small jobs can take ages . .
Dude, wear eye protection, I was flinching! What price do you put on your eyesight? Great channel 👍
I agree with this, after having a miniscule metal shaving getting scraped off your eyeball it's a mistake you only make once 👍
Definitely will prepare for next time, wasn't expecting to be cutting anything that day! And thank you 👍🏼
Old cars just don’t give it up as easy as new ones. Keep at it dude! Props to the lads for helping you out. 👍
Well I'm 4 days late.. Pretty brave of you trying to do this alone, I'm always nervous when I work on my car completely alone. Props to you
That cupra sounded niice!
I have a reflex silver mk5 gti and you're videos are super helpfull for tuning and upgrading my car and even more entertaining thanks for great videos and lots of help.
The BMW is gorgeous!!.
could have just undone the ball joint and had the job done in 15 mins...
This
Ill do that next time, didn't know
I came to the comments hoping someone pointed this out 😂
This is exactly why I cant work on my own cars. Its never simple, that causes something else to break, which doubles the cost when I have to pay someone to fix it. I love watching your vids as you dont seem to edit this kinda thing out. It add realism to it all. Glad you got some good help. If you ever need anyone to over tighten and then snap bolts, or break stupidly delicate plastic brackets......Im your guy! Haha. Keep the content coming mate. 👍 :
Fixing cars is pretty simple tbh its just those that do it for a job have had much more practice and experienced all the problems many times over and has learned how to deal with them where as a diy mech snaps a bolt and then instantly shouts fuck throws a spanner/panics and gives up also a full time mechanic has every tool at his disposal including the holy grail that is ramps or a lift.
Thank you mate, yeah I just like to keep everything how it actually was. I’m quite open about being a beginner, so it’s better if i show any problem areas on video. Easier to get advice 👍🏼
That seat sounded good man
I remember doing my front disc and pads on my own and it was th first time I ever did it. Was all rusted around there. Managed to snap a bolt trying to undo it. What was supposed to be a few hours turned into a whole day. Had to move the car out the drive I was using with 1 bolt missing. Went the next morning to buy the bolt and swapped it over. but trust me I felt as low and frustrated as you looked in th video. Didn't let that get to me and now I keep going.
Keep up the good work.
I would replace all the bushing. I know it's difficult but try do it. It'll be worth it if you're keeping it long term.
Imagine getting your own space and doing a full restore like restoreit lol
You have to jack it up on the ball joint to put pressure on it so it doesn’t spin, this happens all the time just need to know a way around it. Hope this helps for future purposes.👍👍
Thanks for the tip 👌🏼
Been there, done that. I could have kicked myself when I was shown this.
Super vid...Informative, honest and a little scary with you trying to do it on ur own but well played and top guys coming over to help! Ramadan Mubarak to you and all the viewers!.
Great vid I need to do the power flex upgrade on my mk4.. This has helped for knowing what’s what etc thank u appreciated 👍🏻
Man I never get tired of watching your videos big up #TrHamza
Love that man 🙏🏼
Always good to have a couple of mates to help out, and learning by doing is great. Ramadan Mubarak bro
Been waiting for ages for this !!! Ko4 man 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Just had my 1st MOT advisory for the PFF85 501 bushes. N/S has split after 3 months use, around 1000miles. Looks like Ill have to get the axle stands out again another great vid THANK YOU
Irwin Bolt extractors.. Best £20 you can spend (based on my own experience of changing the rear springs on my Golf! If you can, I find it’s best to pickup new bolts for whichever part you’re changing underneath.. at the weekends working on cars always best looking at it than for it! Enjoying the project!! Good luck!👍👍
Well done for trying. You need to get a bush extractor tool which costs roughly £40. You will need it or you will be frustrated and tired by the end of the day! Do one clip for the front control arms. Another for the rear and so on. Make it a DIY video, how to guide for that Golf. Do something nice as well like spray the control arms black to freshen up the car. You'll need more ramp time. Good luck! 👍🏾
Yes @TRHamza, I had my Powerflex ALK fitted today as well on my Mk2 Leon FR and they found a whole host of issues, thermostat sticking, drop links dead and including that I'd defo been taken for a ride by Halfrauds!😭😭😭 Loving the vids. Been an inspiration to get stuff done on mine as we share the engine.
Changing bushes ain't easy.
You need a press to be honest and 2 post will help u massively along with one of them gearbox adjustable holder thing.
Fastest way to remove old Bush will be some wdf onit and fire let it melt out Greece up new one and smash it in.
No such thing as small jobs, if it's going nice and easy then expect something to fock up standard.
Loving these golf videos bro, but miss your car reviews lol
Ramadan mubarak have a good one
Keep it up ,I know how you feel, nothing goes as planned,
I do all of my work in my drive way,
It's very nice of them to lend you the lift, but like you say you have to get the car off the lift , so they can do there work,
Great videos, good luck,
Dave
Hehe , i was thinking also to do the bushes on my mk5 gti .
But it will stay with thinking i guess , will search for a good mechanic 😂.
But youre doing good man , keep up and have a good ramadan .
Yes hamza loving the videos will be a shame see the m2 go its a proper beaut defo best m2 around midlands ways keep up the good work and happy Ramadan brother
Thank you brother, M2 should be hanging around for the summer at least 👌🏼
Nice bro but tbh the next cars will look slick anyways, i had a mineral grey m4 but some idiot smashed me off the road and wrote it off :/
When getting the old rubber bushes out, drill a hole through the rubber bush on the edge and go round the inside of it in a circle motion with the drill bit it works a treat :)
Can always cut through the nut a part way and spilt it with a chisel. That way it saves the bolt and just a new nut needed. I'm sure they are regular high tensile bolts in them, probably grab some from screwfix etc if you get proper stuck
Ramadan Mubarak bro!
Ramadan Mubarak my brother hamza.
Ramadan Mubarak! Keep at it Hamza!🙂
8:38 Nice FR..Love those cars..My mate had the 07 2.0 TDI-170 in Black..EGR/DPF sorted....Fast??..Yeah!!..Torque-Steer..Yeah!!..Nice to look at and drive??..Yeah!!..Did it stick with..or beat most stuff he came across??..Yeah!!....
It's a Cupra not FR
Also install a powerflex or ecs dogbone mount, i will be doing this to my gti as soon as the weather lets me. Only heard good things about it
Yeah will get a new dogbone mount on
Hamza turbo technics! Can see you with a proper set up soon bro
🤣 likeing your commitment if in doubt get someone else ... No really get well done 👏🏻👏🏻 . Lots of gr8 comments & useful tips etc keep going
Those lower ball joints are always a problem 😂 I’m a mechanic at a vw/audi specialist and the studs almost always snap when undoing the three 16mm nuts
Kwik fit snapped one of mine lol replaced free of charge , new part for me 😂
For doing the other anti lift bushing you should only have to loosen the bolts for the back portion of the control arm that you're replacing. Will make it easier to do you're and you won't have to mess around the ball joint on the other side which will probably have the same issue as the one in this video. Good luck and I enjoy your videos, have a mk5 myself that's done up a bit. Fun cars to drive and for me to work on as a former mechanic.
The rear eccentric bolts are usually seized to the bushes. Nightmare as to remove the arms you have to drop the rear subframe to get to them.
Great series bro props to you for doing all this. It's a shame you can't get a unit next to one of the VAG specialists in the city though. I'm sure someone like NV Motorsport would be willing to help you out if you were in the same industrial complex. Which happens to have units up for rent lol. Atb
As always, enjoyed the video and gonna keep supporting you so long as you keep the content up man. But old car problems is just so annoying. I’ve got a 2006 a3 2.0 tfsi and just had a whole new clutch assembly plus gear linkage etc. Cost £1,700. Cried when i saw the bill. The car does have 4+ owners tho:/
I had the same problem with my 8p s3 I did a full bush kit with no ramp and more or less every bolt had to be cut off 😭😭
The dog mount makes a big difference. I just hate how the car shakes in reverse tho. Mine are from black Forrest no issues with shaking or vibrating when ac is on or car in idle.
Great content even if its a slow progress 👍
Without even watching this video yet, you're gonna have SUCH a hard time taking out the old bushing and putting in the new ones. It takes FOREVER! Especially if you don't have access to a good press.
Older cars need plus gas or similar sprayed on all the bolts you want to remove, spray multiple times over a few days prior to the work 😎
Also if a bolt/nut goes tight then go back with it, it will clean the threads up
Great vids 😎😎 I have a weekend car and my daily is a mk5 golf GTI
How do you find the Gti as a daily? Really considering one
@@jordanhewlett8690 love it, no regrets at all 😎
Paul Clarke what’s it like in the corners? got a PD130 polo at the minute but the handling just isn’t there😂
Jordan Hewlett
I will eventually polybush and coilovers but as standard it isnt bad, it’s no go cart as it’s quite a big car
Paul Clarke is it not? Reckon it’ll feel a bit better after those modifications? I want that confidence to Chuck it into corners if I’m going to spend on one. My mate has an Clio 200 and it’s mental in the corners!
You need to watch wheeler dealers for tips! Ed China always cracks out the penetration lube before getting to work.
🥺🥺🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You have the same luck as me 😁my mates got a BIG GARAGE with 6 ramps and i can use it any Sunday so sometimes me and a mate get the car in the garage to either deep clean underneath or put new parts on 👍
It’s about time you showed your face!!!
Is there going to be a followup on the rears? Already done my fronts but wanted to see how easy the rears are and if it makes much difference
Yes!!
Anyone know why mkv golf gti dsg makes a clunk sound when shifting from 3rd to 2nd? It’s like the clutch is trying to go into the gear but someone told me it’s the dog bone... I’m lost can someone help me please!!!
Sick Car's gti's
Ramadan Mubarak
The biggest killer when removing those arms is if the bolts pick up the aluminium thread on the way out of the subframe, no amount of back and forth will help, you were lucky, hope the near side is as kind, and as said just undo the 18mm leave the 3 ball joint ones alone, if the 18 starts to hit the cv joint before it’s fully loose then slacken the hub bolt and push the cv joint out a little, this will give you clearance to undo the bolt before breaking the ball joint and having it all spin,
As mentioned lower ball joints bolts are always a mare to remove. However, i couldn't understand why the fella was using the Dremel from top? It would have been easier to get it off from the bottom Unless there was no gap between the nut and control arm?
There’s always a trickey bolt or nut... 🤣
DANGEROUS
Which Audi a3 engine will be comparison to a golf GTI
Finally a new video haha
Haha yep
Yay Steve!
Always allow 48 hours for 5 minute jobs and 30 minutes for complete engine changes.
James Garfield exactly this 😂
Im glad the car didnt fall on ur head bro. Iv seen a car drop of a ramp and it isnt pleasant.
Guess I'll have to wait a bit for the food reviews.
Next month lol
Be pretty good owning a place like that to work on my own car 👍
New video thank god 🙏😂😂
Lol
Mate all u needed was a ball joint splitter should of done that side first then the 3 main bolts on the wishbone I own a mk5 gti in the same colour if u ever need any help I live in West Midlands just drop me s message
Yes man like Hamza 👌
You're clearly no mechanic... But your doing the best thing to learn which is getting stuck in 👍
Definitely get some eye protection sorted
Number one
A full day to drop one control arm lol I've done these myself they ain't that bad. If you have limited mechanical knowledge like yourself and your friends do some research before you attempt the job.
The front Bush can be removed by drilling the rubber.
Also come on split the ball joint would of saved all that hassle.
And dont forget geometry after you've changed them.
Hello people, i am looking to get a Mark 5 Gti dsg but am worried that it will be bad on fuel meaning it will be costly. From your experience, does the gti have good fuel economy. If so, how much mpg do you get? Thankyou
Tahir Mahmood if you can live with 28-30 mpg average then you’ll be fine, if not, then it’s not the car for you.
@@Joutenshi hi mate thanks for reply, do you know how much miles 28 mpg gets you. I will only be driving local.
Tahir Mahmood well, you’ll get 28 miles per gallon of fuel which if ran on v power is around about £7/8?
@@Joutenshi so if I put £20 I will get around 120miles? Thankyou
I Spy 🇬🇧’S Own Tavarish. I Love To Follow These Episodes. I Personally Am Looking To Buy A Budget MK5 Golf GTI BUT The Max I Am Willing To Pay Is £2000. Cannot Wait For My 1 Year No Claim Bonus So I Can Buy One. I Am 18 That’s Why Lol
Haha Tavarish is a big inspiration for these videos, just without the burnt supercars 😂
Fine German engineering! 😜
Always the same mate, everything going well then you get kicked in the balls and at it for hours. I know that feeling well 😂
Any Liverpool supporters here?😂 irrelevant comment but I’m still gassed about last night 😂
Shaan Alam hahahahaha YNWA pal good game
Celica gts 190hp or mk5 gti
Notification squad rise up!
How’s ramadhan going
Going good, haven’t filmed since it started so will see how it’s like when I do a video tomorrow 😂
TR Hamza 🤘
Number 3
Well done for trying mate but some things do need proffesional help or advice to keep you right. Like you say old cars aswell the amount of things that snap or will be seized will drive you mad if you don't have the knowledge and tools to sort it.
Steve the ledge
It took you all day and night to do just the drivers side?? 😂🤣😂
Craig Williams he does not really have the experience but he is keen to learn so he is ok
@@o.bhambra___9494 i never said he wasn't ok. It was a banter comment darling
I think it's time to sell this car ..... To me 😋
Remap it to stage 2 pops and bangs
Yeh my guy i like that
@WhyOWhy k
@WhyOWhy oh yeh because of pops and bangs
Na it’s alright it only pops when you rev it over 5000
@@zk7608 true
Safety too. Not good on your own in that unit should you slip or trip etc.i bet loads would gladly turn out for an hour or 2 to assist.....even to hold a spinning bolt.
Bushes can be a pita to replace.....dealers just fit new arms. Its a bitch of a job imho.
Rear arb bushes looked in bad shape.
Messaged you on Instagram......WHEN ARE YOU FITTING THE TURBO BRO!????
Why not just buy an air chizzel?
1st one
Oi cuz you not fasting
Oi cuz this was filmed nearly a week ago
