TR Hamza i JUST did this in my Mk5 GTI and ran into the same problems. BE CAREFUL WITH SUBFRAME BOLTS! Snapped 3 on those bushing brackets and had to replace the whole subframe. Also hit everything with penetrating oil an hour minimum before you hit a bolt or nut, it does wonders. Good luck!

This is exactly why I cant work on my own cars. Its never simple, that causes something else to break, which doubles the cost when I have to pay someone to fix it. I love watching your vids as you dont seem to edit this kinda thing out. It add realism to it all. Glad you got some good help. If you ever need anyone to over tighten and then snap bolts, or break stupidly delicate plastic brackets......Im your guy! Haha. Keep the content coming mate. 👍 :

Fixing cars is pretty simple tbh its just those that do it for a job have had much more practice and experienced all the problems many times over and has learned how to deal with them where as a diy mech snaps a bolt and then instantly shouts fuck throws a spanner/panics and gives up also a full time mechanic has every tool at his disposal including the holy grail that is ramps or a lift.

I remember doing my front disc and pads on my own and it was th first time I ever did it. Was all rusted around there. Managed to snap a bolt trying to undo it. What was supposed to be a few hours turned into a whole day. Had to move the car out the drive I was using with 1 bolt missing. Went the next morning to buy the bolt and swapped it over. but trust me I felt as low and frustrated as you looked in th video. Didn't let that get to me and now I keep going.
    Keep up the good work.
I would replace all the bushing. I know it's difficult but try do it. It'll be worth it if you're keeping it long term.

Well done for trying. You need to get a bush extractor tool which costs roughly £40. You will need it or you will be frustrated and tired by the end of the day! Do one clip for the front control arms. Another for the rear and so on. Make it a DIY video, how to guide for that Golf. Do something nice as well like spray the control arms black to freshen up the car. You'll need more ramp time. Good luck! 👍🏾

For doing the other anti lift bushing you should only have to loosen the bolts for the back portion of the control arm that you're replacing. Will make it easier to do you're and you won't have to mess around the ball joint on the other side which will probably have the same issue as the one in this video. Good luck and I enjoy your videos, have a mk5 myself that's done up a bit. Fun cars to drive and for me to work on as a former mechanic.

The biggest killer when removing those arms is if the bolts pick up the aluminium thread on the way out of the subframe, no amount of back and forth will help, you were lucky, hope the near side is as kind, and as said just undo the 18mm leave the 3 ball joint ones alone, if the 18 starts to hit the cv joint before it’s fully loose then slacken the hub bolt and push the cv joint out a little, this will give you clearance to undo the bolt before breaking the ball joint and having it all spin,

Well done for trying mate but some things do need proffesional help or advice to keep you right. Like you say old cars aswell the amount of things that snap or will be seized will drive you mad if you don't have the knowledge and tools to sort it.

Safety too. Not good on your own in that unit should you slip or trip etc.i bet loads would gladly turn out for an hour or 2 to assist.....even to hold a spinning bolt.
Bushes can be a pita to replace.....dealers just fit new arms. Its a bitch of a job imho.
Rear arb bushes looked in bad shape.
