I had my first lesson of Lemper from my Indonesian mother-in-law. It is a bit of work. But it is well worth it. She wrapped it in banana leaves then aluminum foil. Easy to freeze and steam later. Thanks for your video. You are on point!👍🏼
Sometimes when I am really lazy I make lemper casserole style. Layer of the sweet sticky rice, chicken filling, another layer of rice. I know, it is kind of crazy but easy.
So happy to have found this video. I love lemper and am excited to try this recipe! I made it once when my aunts were here visiting me in Phoenix from Holland but forgot again. I already have most of the ingredients so I can't wait to try! Thank you for posting this!
Hi, I'm Indonesian who lives in state, and I'm surprised and glad to see your video, because your cooking is better than me 😍, thanks to share the Indonesian food video we love it! Terimakasih banyak
I used to be married to a Dutch/Indo. Lumper is a favorite! My kids will be thrilled! Thank you! Do you know Rissoles? Deep fried crepes filled with a seasoned beef an appetizer usually dipped in mustard. Not croquettes and these have no breadcrumbs? My kids would be over the moon!
Hi Tracey. Thank you for watching my video. Unfortunately, I don’t have recipes for risolles and croquettes. Wish I did, I’d be more than happy to share them with you. Success with making lemper!
dear madam. got some new inspiration to make the perfect lumper. the indo dutch call it klapper. it is an other way to make the rice. olso you can freese your lemongrass. and bruse it. gives more flavor that way. i enyoyed youre video
So, I was thinking lets take a shortcut, just put the rice in a rice cooker. Easy! Well, it failed, not all the rice was fully cooked. It was just a cheap regular electric cooker. Maybe high-end models like Zojirushi can cook sticky rice better.
Thank you for watching my video...after doing some research on the Internet to find a way to cook coconut rice without the steamer (because not everyone has a rice steamer like the one I used), I came to the conclusion there just wasn't another way.
Hi, I’m Indonesian and seems like we are neighbors (I’m in arcadia 😊). just out of curiosity, how is it that you are so familiar and seems to liking Indonesian food? Thank you for the recipe.
I was so fortunate, a friend gave it to me. I seriously don’t know where to buy it in the States…sorry I can’t be of more help. Thank you for watching my video.

Not crazy at all! You get the same taste, with 1/10 of the effort....makes a lot of sense to me. Thanks for your comment.
Thank you for the instructions, it sounds like a great recipe. I've only had Lemper 1 time in my life and absolutely loved it.

Arcadia, as in Phoenix? If so, I am as well! Born here to my late Dutch-Indonesian parents who moved here in 1962.
