  • As Cadillac phases out their sedans, vehicles like the compact luxury crossover XT4 are vital to the brand's success. We check out the 2019 Cadillac XT4 Sport.
    While enthusiasts might not like it, crossovers are the new hot product in the automotive world. Cadillac has been slow to roll out their vehicles, after the last of their crossovers in the segment, the SRX ended production. Enter the all-new 2019 Cadillac XT4 Sport. Positioned as a compact vehicle in Cadillac's lineup, the XT4 could be seen as a replacement for both the ATS and CTS sedans.
    Our full tour and review of the 2019 XT4 Sport goes in-depth with the features, styling, performance, and pricing for this luxury crossover. We discuss the LED headlights, active cruise control, video rearview mirror, HD 360º camera system, and everything else buyers want to know. We also take the XT4 on a road test to show some of the performance testing we did, along with an emergency brake test.
    Cadillac seems to know it's market well, and is building a vehicle it feels it's customers will want. We talk at length about the position this vehicle takes up in the marketplace, and who will likely be interested in buying it. We wrap our full tour and review with a real world fuel economy test, along with what we liked and disliked the most about the 2019 Cadillac XT4.

    Perhaps the best realized design language implementation of not so new Caddy arts and science Language. A good sibling to Escalade. Front and back and interior all look good. Performance is competitive. I agree the entertainment screen could be done better. So much better than that Tesla model Y hatchback unveiled last week. And beautiful color combo outside and in. Nice job Caddy.

      I thought the Model Y was a joke when I saw it. This is definitely my favourite design for Cadillac's crossovers, if they added a bit more power to this then I'd personally be happy, but I suspect it'll sell pretty well without more power.

    that's really one fine car it's just outstanding .. interior and exterior is this crossover compete with the likes of ford edge ? or probably the nautilus from lincoln ? anyways that's a great review as usual mate . i wish you could review the all new XT6 when it goes on sale this year

    • @PRNTestDrive
      @PRNTestDrive  Před 5 lety +1

      Price wise it seems to be out on it's own. The Lincoln MKC would be it's direct American competitor, although it, the Infiniti QX50, and Acura RDX are all priced more towards the 2019 Buick Envision, which we're featuring on the 25th of March. The XT4 is up there in BMW/Mercedes price territory, but doesn't have the engine power to really compete with them.

      Thank you! I think about my E38 every day, sadly it still sits, I'm expecting the weather will improve by April to at least get the battery reconnected and started up for the first time to make sure it still turns over. I still have road-side assistance from BMW, I need to see if it'll cover the car being towed to an inspection shop so I can at least start getting a list of what's absolutely needed to get it licensed.

  • @HiPlains1
    @HiPlains1 Před 4 lety +1

    Sorry fella this DOES compete with the X3 because the MSRP price points are nearly identical. That is why this falls short. In fact all of the newer unibody FWD SUVs from Cadillac were dated before they ever hit the streets. At 59k you can get an x3 with the inline six making over 300 HP.

    • @PRNTestDrive
      @PRNTestDrive  Před 4 lety

      But that's my point, of course it's in the same segment, but no one in their right mind would cross shop this XT4 with it's meh-power option with a BMW X3. Cadillac needs to step it up a notch to go up against the Germans, but even the new Lincoln Corsair is likely going to blow this away.

    • @HiPlains1
      @HiPlains1 Před 4 lety +1

      @@PRNTestDrive Ok, thought you were serious about the comment with the X3. As for all the unibody cad's their so much they would have to do. For starters make it primarily a RWD. More power. Better transmission which GM is incapable of doing so they might as well outsource to ZF. Completely rework gauge cluster and center stack.

    Ohh lordy!.. Figures, it's the exact spec I'd order.. Nile, I know you don't choose the press cars.. But I swear you're trying to give me a complex or something! Haha I'm just so mad at GM for letting all of those American workers go. I DO NOT want to buy another one for that reason.. This thing is almost too pretty/cool looking for me to pass up, though! Also, I'm quite hooked on their suite of tech. Also, that blue.. wow! I was so upset they killed the velvet blue that I have on my Malibu.. This is so close. Love love love what they did here. It's really too bad about that ugly new XT6.. Anyway, Thank you!

      @PRNTestDrive  Před 5 lety

      Oh god, the XT6. I was hoping it wasn't just the journalists who thought it was ugly. This Cadillac was nice though, and likely the same spec I'd take too. The blue paint contrast against those rear tail lights gave this a really good look. However The CT5 was just announced, that would be my pick over this every day of the week.

      We only just dropped off the Envision back at GM this morning, we've uploaded the episode on it and it'll come on the 25th of March, we're usually a week or two out from the time we get the car to the time we publish the episode, but we're hoping to push that runway out to give us a couple extra weeks buffer in case something comes up.

  • @james2042
    @james2042 Před 5 lety +5

    I will never buy a vehicle with a sunroof until the day I die (including glass tinted roofs, looking at you tesla). What I truly hate is when they add sunroofs as mandatory options before things like fog lamps, heated seats/steering wheel, carplay/aauto, or even leather seats. Only two sunroofs I have ever seen in vehicles owned by family members (not me) never worked right, leaked (ruining the interior), and one got destroyed in a hail storm (all other glass panels not even getting nicked). They are a stupid addition to any vehicle. Why have windows on cars when you can make the doors purely of glass, or why have a hood that hides your engine when you could have a glass hood. This stuff just makes no sense to me
    Sidenote, I also don't like getting blinded by some giant hole in the ceiling while driving, which is why I personally would never drive a convertible either, but at least those have solid roof's that go back on them in bad weather

    • @PRNTestDrive
      @PRNTestDrive  Před 5 lety +1

      Your comment is one of the reasons why I wanted to highlight this specific configuration with the Cadillac. My wife hates having a sunroof, so she keeps it closed whenever she has a car with one. So far it seems that the US manufacturers are the ones they make it optional separately from other packages and trim, although the 2019 Lincoln Continental we have this week includes the pano roof on a package.

    • @james2042
      @james2042 Před 5 lety

      @@PRNTestDrive Lincoln and Cadillac both tie sunroofs to trims in most of their vehicles. But more vehicles moving foward have it as a dedicated option which is very nice. I'm looking at sierra denalis and ram Longhorns and I'm so glad both have optional sunroofs period

      Dave McGuigan people don’t understand how silly it is to say “Cadillac has terrible reliability”. I think every manufacturer definitely has a area or two where they can improve, but to say Cadillac’s reliability is terrible is such a ginormous stretch...matter of fact it’s a complete lie. That’s exactly the same as saying GM products in whole (Buick, GMC, Chevrolet) all have terrible reliability. That’s just a complete and utter lie.
