- The time has come to lay our old BMW X5 & Porsche Cayenne to be laid to rest…
So of course, we want them to go out with a bang! So we’re draining them of their oil, and we’re going to see which lasts the longest!
First up we have the Porsche. This Cayenne comes with a 4.5-litre twin-turbo V8 which can produce 335hp and 420Nm. Alongside it, we have the X5, which comes equipped with a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 which is good for 286hp and 440Nm.
They won’t be driving anywhere, but the question is, which will last the longest? You’ll need to stick with Mat for this explosive finish!

Well, thermally, it seems to be a much better engine. It's correctly venting all it's thermal heat into the coolant, hence BOOM. The BMW just heated and cooked the oil and the block. This says volumes about the Porsche. MUCH more resilient design.

The BMWs cooling system was definitely broken. You can tell by the smoke not being blown around by the radiator fan. Also, not having oil won’t ruin the engine that quickly.
Shame, that Cayenne V8 could've been transplanted into another cool project car.
RIP, Mat. Also, I think that BMW ran better without oil than most do with.

Bmw are the worst car you can buy so? They are bottom of reliability charts and top of engine failure rates. B58 has became the new N47 as they all get issues at 40k miles onwards.

BMWs leak that much oil they are probably used to running without it. I know as an owner!
The very fact that they put this video up on CZcams, would probable tell he survived, but... That was a big explosion and a lot of hot steam, and we just had two videos before this, where Mat was not actually present. Wish you well Mat. 👍

I am your biggest fan. I am suggesting this letter because I have a test I am interested in as follows.
Drain the oil and coolant from the top of the mountain in the new and old Hyundai Agera and test how long they last.
First, prepare the 2009 and 2021 3.3 Grandeurs, and test which one of them will last longer with the bonnet removed.

Well that Cayenne engine probably only would have gone another 350,000 miles or so if you hadn't destroyed it! 20 minutes without oil! It looked like it wasn't even damaged after 10 minutes!
I thought people would wanna keep these cars as future classics as they were massively expensive when new and carry huge status.
Considering the Porshe was knocking less than a minute in it did really well, wow. I hope Mat is OK!

I feel so bad because one time in my 1.8 Cruze(same engine as an Astra) I'd resealed the sump myself and after a month oil didn't want to circulate and more recently I accidentally lugged it too hard up a steep hill, still around but the thought of no oil is horrible

Don't bother. I own one of those BMW X5s. They're shit cars. They're full of stuff that any shade tree mechanic would know is stupid. Just tonight mine developed a problem with the siphon pump in the fuel tank; you can't run it below 1/4 of a tank without it stalling...All because BMW decided to build the fuel system out of pop-together plastic bits instead of proper threaded connections with compression seals. It's ALWAYS something with these cars.
All I see is ugly SUVs

I'm not surprised at the Porsche lasting so long. Much as I respect the BMW engine (RIP to that one), my parents had a Porsche 924 for over 36 years and the engine had done almost 250,000 miles. Still, at least both cars (and I'm hoping not Matt) met a fitting ending!
