Wow, FINALLY a helmet manufacturer makes something way outside the norm! In today's video were taking a look at a new helmet Icon motorsports released called the Airflight. Im assuming because it looks like a fighter pilot helmet. We also touch on the motorcycle industry as a whole and how we need to start appreciating companies brave enough to try something new!

Can a brother get a like on the video for an awesome new lighting setup for product shots? For real though, can you guys tell I was enjoying those helmet shots a little too much?
chaseontwowheels Your shots are always top notch 👍🏻
Your shots are always great I'm never disappointed in your content
Where and how much did you get the helmet wall hooks for?
Hi Chase, great video! Have you tried the Icon Airflite on an upright position? It looks that it was made for a sporty position. Thanks
All your vids are LIT
watching helmet videos at 3:30 am and I DONT EVEN HAVE A BIKE
I'm at work doing the same thing. I also don't have a bike lmfao
i know that pain man. i know that pain too well
lmao same saving for a bike randomly found this vid at 12 am 😭
Get your ass to work and get some sleep
Bui same!
I've ridden close to 5,000 miles in this helmet and I'll throw out my 2 cents:
1. It's a pretty noisy helmet, which makes sense considering it's aimed at sport bike riders who want an aggressive look. I noticed with my Sena that it's actually harder to hear in this helmet because the included speaker cutouts don't push the earphones close enough to your ears, even with the risers installed too.
2. Speaking of Sena, the sticky mount is your friend here. I'm currently using the clamp mount and it's a pain in the butt. The clamp mount pushes in the neck curtain and makes it a very tight squeeze which is uncomfortable taking on and off.
3. One of the best feautures here is the ventilation. I had ridden so much in my previous helmet (year round) that I noticed I was breathing very shallowly during the cold months in order to avoid fogging up my visor. This helmet truly kills it with ventilation, providing awesome air flow and great venting/defogging year round.
4. The field of view is awesome in this helmet and one of my other favorite features. You have a really great picture of what's happening in your peripherals as well as everything going on in front of you. By far one of the best full-faced helmets for vision.
5. The color selection for shields is awesome and personally, what I consider a top selling point. This is a unique helmet and the huge variety of color schemes to invest in makes it even better. I rock a rubatone black with chrome visor and ALWAYS catch attention over the helmet. I will soon be purchasing the black visor too.
6. The build quality is honestly great for a $250 entry level helmet. It feels very secure and premium in most areas for the price point. It's only ECE rated and not SNELL rated because it has a drop down visor, which disqualifies it from SNELL ratings. I personally think that it's stupid, but that's me.
7. Swapping shields is actually really easy and takes all of two minutes when you get the hang of it. Plus, the drop down sun visor can complete the package when you need the extra protection.
All in all, it's a great helmet. I could have bought something more expensive but the unique design was too fun to pass up. I'm not an Icon fanboy in the slightest but I'm genuinely happy to see a brand shoot for something new to add to the market.
Love seeing people that have more experience than me with a product comment down here. Thanks for the input man. Im sure it's going to help a ton of people out!
@@chaseontwowheels Thanks man! Long time fan of your work. Keep up the great content!
Alec Horner are there speaker cut outs in this helmet? Thanks. Planning to get one.
With the video review and the comment review I'm heading to revzilla now to order this helmet. 👍🏼
I've been reading online and a lot of people are complaining about extreme wind noise issues and the helmet feeling too bulky and heavy. Giving a bobblehead feeling.
How do you feel about those complaints and how do they compare to your time using the helmet?
My dumbass is like "yep, I need this helmet now". I also dont own a bike, never have, and wont for a long time haha still need the helmet though

I've had this helmet for 3 months, no regrets. absolute love.
How's the wind noise?
I bought this helmet along with my first bike. It is a great helmet. The visor stands out in the wave of traffic. I have the same visor as in the video and people are always saying how easy it is to spot me. That is exactly why I got this oddball helmet. It is loud, visually. Not to mention it looks like daft punk is behind you.
That's why I'm looking at the white w/gold shield

What I would love to see in a helmet is a clear drop down visor. So you can have your tinted visor to look good during the day but at night you lift the main visor and still have the wind protection for your eyes at night
I have this helmet and they do have the clear drop down you can buy. I have the blue tinted outside with the clear drop down. I love it
mine came with one, you can just switch it out

I’ve had this helmet for 4 months now and I absolutely love it. It turns heads, it’s spacious inside yet fits snuggly, wind noise isn’t too loud, it’s perfect.
TheTruLegacy I had someone tell me it look bad ass. I also get a lot of looks
Turning heads is not always positive just so you know
WickedOne That might be the case for you.
@@zRoGuee no its just a generalization. Just because one is turning the head doesnt mean a positive outcome.

My heart sank when I saw the drop down visor.
My bank account Is now $300 less.
I'm not sure if he mentioned it but all of the visors, flip down visor, side clips, and rear wing are interchangeable. From airflite to airflite. The shell is also one size. Small heads get large padding, big heads get smaller padding etc etc. It's a great design. You can also take the visor off and use a dirt bike visor! And rock some goggles, goggles fit perfectly.
The whole video I think you looked like the old school Cobra Commander from the GI Joe cartoon.
Dan i so agree that was i thoughts too im glad im not the only one
Just need it in blue...with a silver visor...and a couple of cobra stickers...
Haha, Cobra Commander

Following your review of this helmet, I just ordered the red Krom helmet from Icon, very thorough review, you covered every questions I could've asked! Thanx mate!
I had the icon airflite for my fz09 loved that helmet. Went down after hitting gravel and low sided at 50mph. Helmet held up great definitely saved my head from the impact.
P3rricuz don’t mean to be a dick, but the traction control didn’t kick in?
Traction control doesn’t work when you can’t ride for shit. Lol
@@xxthehuskycaboosexx traction control can't do shit when you hit gravel midcorner. It's not ESP, it only helps to prevent loss of grip when you open the throttle. Can't beat physics unfortunately
Sometimes when hitting gravel it slides like ice. Even going 15 mph.
Ive currently got my third helmet with built in sunvisor. None of them have had the "locking" feature youre describing but ive NEVER had an issue with them going up or down. Ive ridden highways with them with the visor up and the sunvisor down and there has not been a single issue except for the fact that i find them pretty anoying to clean since they're so flexible.
just got my airflight in the mail.....can't wait for the spring to ride and try it. Installed my Packtalk with speakers in it......LOVE the fact that it actually has speaker holes so that the speakers aren't pushing through to the middle of your brain on a long ride. This helmet has everything I want all in one. Flip down visor, amazing air flow, low noise level at speed, concave holes for mounting speaker for your Packtalk and an AMAZING look!! I bought the brushed aluminium and bought the extra shield in chrome....looks amazing!!
I didn't use your link to purchase the helmet, but your review was the deciding factor in my decision to purchase it from my local shop. So far, I love it!
You might not be a fighter pilot but, you are a certified drone pilot!!! Always go with the positive. Ride Positive.
i don't ride or own a motorbike but i feel like this would be prefect for downhill longboarding
I’m not really into bikes, but this is one of the best reviews I’ve ever seen. The ride along portion was amazing! 🤯
Been riding (consistently) for just about two decades ... I'm a finance manager for a major name brand dealership ... This is the best helmet review I have ever seen. For real, good job!
God, this is a really beautiful helmet. The colors you picked match perfectly.
I just got this helmet today in Quick Silver, and I love it, like you I have 2 Shoei helmets, and a gang of other helmets and I live in Las Vegas.
It has way more air flow than I thought it would and it looks great.
I was sweating my brains out on my H2 which is an insanely hot bike in the first place so getting more air was a welcomed change!
I was even able to keep the visor down at most stop lights before having to lift if the light was very long.
It is the closest color to my bike I have found and it fits good so far.
I love it, and I think I’ll pickup the Battle Scar Master Chief helmet as well, it is sick to death!
I got this helmet a few months back, the Inky version with the smoke visor or the mirrored visor on it most of the time. Really neat helmet, people compliment me on it all the time.
Duh! I like how he "talks with his hands"....at "86/mph" on the freeway.
Damn Chase. That review was tight! annnnnd now I'm buying a new helmet
2Wheel Pursuit definitely nice l, takes some break in but once it’s done it’s like an vagina for your head...
J Rogers Comment of the day right there lol
Please reconsider, this review is extremely bias. The airflite is absolute shit
+Right Wrist Twist
Air " *flight* " ... not " *flite* "
Lol keep your mouth shut if you don't know what your're talking about, it IS the airflite. I work at Cyle Gear and sell and test helmets on the daily. Chase kinda proves chase doesn't know what he's talking about, he can't even get the name of the helmet right!
Chase, I notice a lot of scratches on your visors :(. Wanted to share a tip with you. Use only warm water, dish soap, and your fingers to clean the visor then blow dry with compressed air. Mine have over 15,000 miles on them and still clear as the day they were brand new. Have never taken a cloth to them
DON'T use dish soap! It's got tiny little abrasives in to help scrub pots and pans.
smithlikeswessen I do the exact same with my visor. The only scratches are from debris hitting it at high speed, but you can’t see them unless you are looking for them.
Steve 0 well whatever these abrasives are they are FAR less abrasive than any microfiber cloth or lens cleaning cloths. Like I said, my visors look literally brand new still so I'll stick with my dish soap method :)
@@Unctahdew theres many different kinds of microfiber. The abrasive youre referring to are the loops in a closed loop weave variety. Many have a open loop or diamond weave that will not scratch a visor at all
That's not true for all dish soap. In fact, most dish soap is just pure liquid. Dawn for instance does not have abrasives.
Love the growth with the channel I've been a sub for a looking time !
Just got mine in the battle scar 2 graphic and it’s badass looking with the gold chromatic shield!
This helmet saved my life earlier this year. Went out and bought a new one to replace it right away. The one drawback I find, is that the visor came off after the initial impact.
I hit a deer wearing a Shoei RF 1200. Head hit first after sailing for a while. My visor flew off at initial impact as well. Might just be a product of the full face design?
@@MrSlade19 Possible. My one argument with the airflite is that the face shield doesn't necessarily "lock" onto the helmet. Makes visor changes an absolute breeze, but with that comes the fact that it can come off in situations like that.
@@MrSlade19 I also landed face first on the pavement at a good 65-70mph. So I can't technically blame the helmet for that. Overall it held up pretty well. Visor was scraped to all hell obviously, and the spoiler on the back of the helmet shattered. Other than that, no cracks or breaks in the shell. Eps foam did its job great. Didn't even have a headache lol.
It kinda looks like Cobra Commander's facemask.
It really looks like the angle eyes paintball mask from 2008 wouldn’t be surprised if it was the main source of inspiration for the designer
CoffeeAllDay looks exactly like the angel eyes that’s what i thought it was at first😂
Cobra!!!
Cobra B.A.T
I love it .... Bought it from your link and i love the way it feels. I have a superduke 1290r and my god the white and orange custom colours look crazy...
I’ve been drooling over this helmet for a few weeks now
I have this helmet. Love it. Only thing to really mention is that the top vents are worthless if the sun visor is up, I guess Icon thinks you only need them in bright conditions. A tinted main visor is awesome during the day but dangerous at night so bring your clear visor if you are actually riding, the quickmount is nice but I doubt it was designed to be switched out twice a day for years on. I find myself using the clear visor 2/3 of the time for this reason.
Also the narrow fit means you need to size up. It also cramps your neck if you are riding in a crunched position as it was designed solely for upright riding.
man never got that emoji high five :(
Cant recommend this helmet enough. So comfortable once you break it in. Unfortunately, had to import it into Australia though due to no resellers. Worth it!
Oh nice. How long you been riding with it? Love to have people that have used a product more than the month or so I get to use them voice their opinions in the comments!
About 5 months now. Changed from an arai vector 2. Took a little used to the narrow shape, but once its "broken in" is an absolute dream helmet. And you hit the nail on the head with how quiet and aero it is (im on a z1k and have no issues with wind noise or aero). I got the matte black with dark tint shield. First icon purchase but wont be the last :D
@@goz__9177
Asking myself how helps the shape the tinted face the others drivers to adapt their speed ?
Do they notice your head checking left or right when changing lanes ?
Is "it" part the point the vision ?

Nice review but i think you missed a few steps, how do you hook up your sena to the helmet? and with the extra long visor, where do you mount your action camera?
Sena mounting kits typically come with an option to use a 3m adhesive to stick to the helmet instead of clamping it on.
Is there a built in area for the speakers though
@@Shardus_Blunder almost all helmets have the speaker space inside the helmet
@@Shardus_Blunder yes
RidingWithDanger made a video on how to mount. He used a chin mount from this company called motoradds that is made specifically for this helmet
it sure looks cool..i'm not quite convinced by that huge visor tho..
I also own the Icon FLASH BANG carbon fiber Airframe Pro. Awesome helmet. I also like the Scorpion helmets.
OneWheel rider looking to upgrade - the helmet is not what I am looking for, but your video is top notched & watched to the end. Great channel!
I wear all icon gear except for my helmet. The Snell sticker on my rf1200 is the selling point. Gimme a Snell icon helmet and I'll take it seriously.
Snell doesn't certify helmets with a drop down visor, see the Shoei GT-Air, more premium than the RF1200 but no Snell rating.
I just want to know if it *could* pass a Snell test, if the drop-down were ignored. My GT-Air can, afaik. But that would be my selling point.
Ece ratings is more strict that Snell if I remember right
Ece is recognized world wide, so it is still really good. Dot and Snell are just American standards. Plus Ece is much stricter and does batch testing BEFORE the model leave the factory, where as Dot does random samples. Snell is independent and they test before they go out then test randoms sample off shelves after. Both Snell and ECE are pretty strict and equal in the testing the manufactures have to apply for testing. But Snell is also considered the Old standard in favor of denser / heaver helmets for impact while ECE is more in favor of lighter stronger ones. Plus as mentioned Snell doesn't rate modular helmets but ECE does. pretty much you want Snell or ECE(both are extremely debated)
Yeah, ECE is not shit compared to Snell. Snell isn't an additional American standard, it's internationally recognized and independent of state governments. It's very easy to game ECE for a certification because of fixed impact points, and Snell dosen't certify drop-down visors because they shatter and the gap in the EPS liner causes most to fail the impact testing at one of the most important parts of the helmet. Snell also does not certify the modular helmets because they can choose impact points and all tested failed impact protection at the hinges and deflection of the chinbar. Snell is primarily a certification for motorsport, which is why silly shit like modular helmets and internal visors are considered too great a risk, and they won't put their name on it. If Snell favors Denser/Heavier than so does ECE, both having impact standards of 275Gs. Snell just makes sure it can take that from anywhere.
He talks about the helmet at 2:08 you’re welcome in advance!!!
Def ordering this helmet been looking for somn different helmet wise an this is it thanx bro
Awesome helmet, the only one thing bad about it is if you going over 60 and look to either side to check for passing, the wind will lift the visor up.

So I sold my last bike when my young was born in 2015. The only helmet that had me dead set on having was the Suomy 1R Extreme Gambler. This in its separation from the norm warrants a shopping trip for a new steed. I don't see it going on the course though. Great review, thanks!
I have the Icon Airflite Stealth. The field of view is so unobstructed that sometimes after riding for a while, I forget I'm wearing a helmet. Top notch gear.
Hey buddy, I've considered this helmet but I have concerns. How would you mount a gopro to it with an audio set up? I just can't do side mounted, it needs to look clean
MERLIN & ME they make adapters that mount on the side but have a swing mount that swings the camera to the front. I have it setup on my helmet and it looks pretty dope
@@McLivin410 but then there is still the visor that can't go up if the gopro is in front of it
Nemphias true, you would have to swing the camera out of the way each time I guess

Got this helmet back in March and it is freaking amazing. Only things I was disappointed in was the snap on the chinstrap broke off 2-3 weeks into use. Had to buy a quick release since I cant snap the chin strap anymore. Also, the drop down sunglasses definitely need to be darker I feel. With both a tinted visor and the sunglasses the sun is still as bright as always and barely has an affect I feel.

I'm kinda on the fence as far as how the helmet looks. Now I got to run down to Cycle Gear and try one on in person.
Howd it go?
@@Blballerboy Chase kinda nailed it. It seems to be a good helmet for the price. I paid the same for my scorpion but I think that I'll be getting myself an early birthday present this year. 👍
