  • "Puskás scared the hell out of goalkeepers from the 30-35 metre range. He did not just have a powerful shot, but precision as well. I thought he was a genius." (Raymond Kopa about Ferenc Puskas)

    Puskas was the manager of Panathinaikos FC when the latter reached the 1971 European Champions Cup Final (they ultimately lost 2-0, to Ajax). According to the best player of that Panathinaikos team, and arguably the best greek footballer of all times, Mimis Domazos (nicknamed ''The General'' for his leadership, playmaking prowess and passing accuracy), when the rain was so heavy that they couldnt train outdoors, they would instead train in the basketball court and Puskas would routinely shoot the ball with his feet straight in the basket, a feat none of his active players could ever do.

    Puskas changed his play when arrived to Real Madrid; with Honved and hungary has a role more creative, he played as classic inside. With Real Madrid has a position of scorer, as Romario. After two years out, he made a second era as good as in the 50'

    • @carlossimancas9867
      @carlossimancas9867 Před 2 lety +2

      Tuvo que reinventarse porque en el Madrid toda la creación pasaba por Di Stéfano, que era un 10 disfrazado de 9, mientras que Puskas era un 9 disfrazado de 10

    • @habsallways
      @habsallways Před rokem +2

      I have seen Puskas live both at Honved and the Hungarian national team.Forever I'm trying to explain exactly what you wrote.At Honved he had to be creative as there was no Hidegkuti (false 9) For Puskas it was no big deal getting used to Alfredo di Stefano as Hidegkuti played that role way before ADS.
      Btw Puskas was just as good being a creative (playmaker) player as he was at goal scoring.

    Mio nonno, che ora non c'è più da quasi 2 anni, lo definiva come uno degli attaccanti più forti che abbia mai visto nella sua vita. Lui aveva delle cassette in cui c'era un documentario dove intervistavano proprio Puskas e raccontavano la sua carriera e le sue origini. È da lì che ho conosciuto questa leggenda dell'Ungheria e di quel Real Madrid irripetibile. Rimasi impressionato nel vedere come negli anni '50, con quel pallone così pesante, Puskas fosse in grado di correre così tanto e di tirare quelle bordate assurde da fuori area. Sarebbe stato un giocatore modernissimo anche oggi, bastava una preparazione atletica al passo dei tempi e avrebbe distrutto tutti coloro che vengono definiti fenomeni oggi

    La mejor zurda de la historia del fútbol después de Maradona. Goleador terrorífico, con un cañón en la pierna izquierda, y con una puntería impresionante. Es famosa la anécdota del gol de falta ante el Atlético de Madrid, a 30 metros del arco, que el árbitro le hizo repetir....y Puskas volvió a mandar la pelota a la escuadra. Pero también poseía una zurda sutil y delicada, con una capacidad fabulosa para combinar y tirar paredes (Gento contaba que el húngaro manejaba con suma naturalidad el jabón de la ducha con el empeine de su pie izquierdo). Y además era un futbolista rapidísimo, con una velocidad espectacular para acompañar junto a Di Stéfano los centros que el supersónico Gento tiraba desde la banda izquierda (vean el gol que marca ante el Eintracht de Francfort en la final europea de 1960, a pase de Gento tras un contragolpe de libro por la banda izquierda). Ya veterano, y con kilos de más, le bastaba con recibir la pelota en la frontal y tirar a puerta, y aún así siguió marcando goles. Uno de los talentos más grandes en la historia del fútbol europeo y mundial

    • @elchamakito336
      @elchamakito336 Před 2 lety

      Yo creo que tiene mejor zurda que Maradona, considerando las condiciones de la época. No se acomodaba el balón para los tiros libres, le pegaba como fuera y iba para dentro. Imagínate lo que haría con un balón actual. También tenía buen dribbling pero era más de pasar la pelota o chutar después de irse de alguien. Un jugadorazo, nada que envidiarle a los más grandes de la historia.

    • @carlossimancas9867
      @carlossimancas9867 Před 2 lety +2

      @@elchamakito336 Bueno, técnicamente lo que hizo Maradona con la pelota a mí me parece no ya insuperable, sino inigualable, pero son opiniones. Lo que es seguro es que Diego no tenía el fenomenal disparo del húngaro que, no sólo tiraba fortísimo (con aquellas pelotas pesadísimas) sino con una colocación propia de un francotirador ("Puskas", por cierto, significa escopeta en húngaro). Luis Aragonés destacaba la clase de Pancho tirando paredes, y otros que lo vieron jugar mucho destacaron la excelente visión de la jugada que tenía, siempre con gran sentido del juego, sin ser jamás un chupón ni abusar del regate. Conocía sus virtudes como nadie y las explotó a la perfección. Y una velocidad tremenda en su mejor época. Sí, Puskas fue sin duda uno de los veinte o treinta mejores futbolistas de la historia, inolvidable absolutamente para quienes lo vieron jugar

    I think Puskás was the CR7 of the '50s /' 60s. Completely different from the South American giants. Just one trick and then a killer shot. Very rational football, just like CR7. The incredible goal average is due to this. Pelé, Rivellino and Ronaldinho knew much more about the ball not only from Puskás but also from Messi and Maradona. Maradona was more complex than Messi, but Messi knows better how to snake through a complete defense.

      You can't really compare Dalglish and Rush to ADS and Puskas.
      If you want to compare there is only one duo that was even better.
      Puskas and Kocsis.They were both in their prime when they played together.

      @@habsallways I wasn't making a comparison. I simply said that no pair of forwards had a telepathic understanding, like that shared between di Stéfano and Puskás, until Dalglish and Rush came along. Nowhere did I say that each pair was similar. I'm not one of those who insist on making lists of "best of all time" and "greatest of all time", which are specious, vacuous and utterly pointless. I simply recognise that many people, over the ages, possess a sublime talent in whatever field they excel in.

    People are stupid when saying things like ''Messi is with no doubt the greatest ever''. Well, the modern stars are kept and feed, plays with perfect balls on perfect pitches. None of the divers would have survived a game in the 50s, or even the 80s. Puskas was the greatest of the 50s and early 60s. We should think about it like that, or atleast have that in mind when speculating about ''the greatest ever''. Who knows how Messi would have done in Puskas place or Puskas in Messis (tbh I think Puskas would have done better, he plays so modern here, ahead of his time) not taking anything away from Messi who with no doubt is the greatest attacker of the decade. I could go on ranting about only strikers being considered the greatest also, but enough of it now.

      @@samuelbiswas615 Yeah, sure Messi would have been revolutionary, However, Puskas had high/high rate, ran everywhere. Messi would have done the same things as Puskas, not more, if u think so, well thats ur opinion. Di Stefano is higher rated than Puskas bc he was at a higher rated club for longer. But just think about this: Puskas was in the national team of a nation with back then 8 million and completley dominated world fotball from 1950-1956. Messi have not been able to do anything in the big tournaments. However, this does not take anything away from Messi, however he is a product of new fotball and dives alot. Puskas never did that. He fought, played with a broken ankle and scored the winner for Hungary (that was deemed offside, but wasn't.) Messi surpases Puskas by a little in club fotball, even if Puskas scored 5 in a Champions League, but Puskas by far is better in national team. And think if he would have played in his prime with Hungary (58-64). Its different now when players dive and they would not be able to kick a ball that was like a ice-cube. But Messi is a talent of a generation. However, not the best ever cause he was to dependent on his team. Just look at him now. Doesnt fight. Just stands there waiting for the ball.

      @@AJ-lh4fp Ok, sure. He is tough (with standards of before 90s). But if he was back then I think he would not have been. He would have been sick. Tough not as hardhitting as Puskas. A team with Messi and Puskas would have been the best ever. Messi with his intellegence and Puskas with His (best ever) left foot, fighting Spirit and pure talent infront of goal. I cant say more than that, One has a fucking Price named of him, and THE other Will have One after he puts his shoes down. Both top 5 ever. (Its Hard to put One before another, I think One should think about the time also, Messi would have been a god but not as Good back then and Puskas would have been a god but not as good back then). Both in a team, Messi Creative second forward and Puskas Up at THE top. Cant name a better forward Line ever tbh.

      @@AJ-lh4fp Puskas has the best goal per game ratio, however you can’t use just that to judge who’s a better player because Gerd Muller has over 700 goals with an extremely impressive goal per game ratio, but he’s not even top 10 all time. It’s not just how many goals you score, it’s how you scored them, in what league and what era too. From the footage I’ve seen, Puskas is better than Muller, because he could score goals from outside the box and had more skill and technical ability.
