What people may not realize is, that just like the title indicates, all of that footage is from just ONE tournament (world cup 1986). This isn't a collection of footages from multiple tournaments, multiple years, clubs, etc. No, this is what he did in ONE tournament. Absolutely stunning performance. No player has ever played with that stamina, skills, speed, etc., in one tournament.

I've watched the whole tournament live on TV when I was still a little kid during that summer, and I remember vividly when I was watching Maradona playing, it was a supernatural display of supremacy on the pitch. He wasn't only just a heavenly gifted player, but he also was a true warrior and a leader... I've cried and screamed my lungs out, how this could be real!?
I've watched him playing with Napoli as well, and he was also unreal, but that 1986 world cup tournament, was probably the best one the world has ever seen from one individual, even to this day... Messi might be the GOAT in terms of the achievements and the longevity, but Maradona was also the pure genius of the game!

He is not people have to stop saying this nonsense. Football evolved so much that even average teams today would absolutely destroy teams from the pre 2000 era. Maradona is one of the greatest talents of all time that is certain. But the further the sport evolves the better players will become. Also consistancy is getting better and players have their peaks for longer periods. I'm sure even Messi will be surpassed at some point. Maybe not in the next 15-20 years but it will happen.

I have watched Maradona on TV and in person (I consider myself lucky to have seen him live) during my Teens. I have never seen such a presence from one single individual in a team sport. We are all familiar with the historic footage now, but what make him special was this aura of being "unbeatable" to his opponents and the spectators. We didn't really watch the game, we watched Maradona. His ability to judge the ball, situations and the game overall was almost superhuman. I have seen him reach balls nobody would even run after. For some reason he could judge that he will get it. After a while you knew as a spectator that if Maradona would start to run, he would get it. If he was going after a kick, the ball would end up where he wanted it to end up. He had an incredibly low error rate, especially during his time from 1984 to 1990. His passes and overall accuracy have been unbelievable. His natural understanding of physics and motion should have been studied closer. He was an unbelievable talent, unmatched by anybody in my lifetime.
His performances in 1986 are legendary, but one of the hidden masterpieces was his game 1990 against Brazil. There you can see another side of him as a strategic genius.

Maradona86 is the best show of a soccer player of all time. Not a single player, to date, has been able to reach Maradona's 86 level. He really made the Mexico 86 World Cup his sole stage, without sacrificing respect for Burruchaga, Valdano etc. With only one World Cup, Maradona was able to establish himself as the idol of millions of footballers to date. Even Messi once stated that his idol player was Maradona. Gracias Diego!

Actually, Diego should have 2 WC if the super idiot of Menotti had included him (then 17) in the Argentina winning team of 1978. He was back then a star in his country, but Menotti had other stupid ideas no one will understand. And in 1982 all was set up by Havelange (then the mafiosi FIFA boss) to hinder a WC win for Diego at any cost. That's the reason why Gentile (Italy) fouled him from the beginning until the end without getting multiple red cards, and why the Brazilians did the same.

Maradona was a one man gang yet always part of the team, he gave Argentina the world cup at the time they needed a celebration as a nation, after he passed a woman left a note outside his home saying " I'm not a football fan, but at a time when I was young and saw my dad cry daily because we couldn't afford food you made him happy by winning the trophy, the whole street was happy " People say Messi has had a longer run at the top, well would he last in that era? he would have been kicked into retirement by 25, Ronaldo, same, Maradona is the best ever, i'm so glad i saw him in 1986 football is not the same, players not the same, Maradona will always be the best. Messi's career at the top would be over by the time he's 23, Messi profited as did Ronaldo from the abuse Maradona took, they changed the rules to protect players, Maradona, Van Bastan, Gullit, these guys put up with attempted murder assaults. You can see in many video's Messi running with the ball with 3 defenders simply running along side him doing nothing because there not allowed to touch him, in diego's day 2 of them would have gone in with murderous intentions with the 3rd ready to dive in if the other 2 fail. You can only appreciate Maradona if you watched him every week 90 minutes 4-5 years the same way you've watched Messi.... in 2014 world cup Messi was most fouled player 24 fouls in 7 games. Gentile fouled Maradona 23 times in 1 game in the world cup Argentina vs Italy and got only a yellow card, he punched, tore Maradona's shirt, kicked, slide tackled from behind, shoulder tackled Diego into the advertising boards the lot. Messi would not be the player he is under those rules while Diego would be free to do more in todays rules. Maradona's moves are much more impressive, what he did to escape the fouls and stay on his feet was pure talent. With Messi you don't notice these types of moves, because today's football doesn't allow for so much toughness in the moves, today there is also an area around the main player. That's why Messi is not as physically challenged by the strength of opponents as Maradona. Messi is not at his peak in 2022, unlike Maradona who was at his peak in 1986. or that you dont play football without 10 others on the pitch
Maradona is a political tool to control the people who love him. Great footballer but to many think he is jesus. Churches have statues of jesus removed because they want a statue of maradona sitting there... its beyond insanity for a guy who can kick a ball really well.

That was at Los Cebollitas... "The little onions"
Diego was 10 years old when he traveled in two buses from Villa Fiorito to the La Paternal neighborhood, together with his friend Goyo Carrizo, to try out Argentinos Juniors. Francis Cornejo, the famous discoverer of him, coordinated the practices of the children's categories and decided to incorporate him into a '60 category group that was preparing to play the Evita National Games.
As the teams could not register with the name of the institution, this group of children was called Los Cebollitas because most of them were of a small physical build.
Maradona stood out for his remarkable soccer conditions and Los Cebollitas were champions in '74. Diego's team made history in amateur football: it was 136 games undefeated and earned the right to tour South America for the surprising game it played on the field.

Don't matter what they say, any one who plays or loves foot ball knows in their heart that Maradona was the greatest ever. If he had played in the current generation where rules against fouls are much stricter, he would have blown away every record and the minds of every player and fan world wide. Such a Genius, my God - I am from a small village in India, born to a Foot ball loving community. They say it's correct - Greats don't just dominate their field, they unite people.
