The real philosophical mystery of this movie was the 3 sea shells...

I find it disturbing that how similar this collective fascism in demolition man future is to "woke-ism".

When Edgar Friendly said "I want high cholesterol, I wanna eat bacon, burgers, and buckets of cheese" he wasn't stating he wanted a bad diet, he was advocating the ability to have the choice to make bad personal decisions (that obviously don't fall in the realm of obvious crime like murder, rape or theft) without the government trying to punish him for it.

"I wanna eat bacon and buckets of cheese".... And don't want society telling me what I can and can't do.

The one lesson the Demolition Man future doesn't remember is to learn from the past or it'll bite you in the backside. It's a lesson that many people in real life today have not learned.

One thing to note is that the hostages at the beginning were dead already. Phoenix killed them beforehand, which is why they didn't show up on the thermal scan and Spartan assumed they weren't there.

Even Simon Phoenix is disgusted by Cocteau's vision of a new world. to quote him "You can't take people's right to be assholes"

I'm 100% convinced Bungie named the Master Chief in HALO after John Spartan. Master chiefs name is John, hes a Spartan. John Spartan.

Watched this and the fifth element in cinemas in my mid teens and I love both. The great bright visuals and fun feels have made them a yearly watch at least

The thing that I found strangest in this movie was that Koctow sent Simon Phoenix, a monster who enjoys killing people as a form of pleasure, against Eadger Friendly, a minor inconvenience
