I thought the complete system software deleted everything?
I did (over 1 gb, regular 7.51 is less than 500mb in size) after 7.51 caused my system to freeze for 10 minutes + per action so rebuild database performed, factory reset, bought a brand new laptop to install this reinstallation on a 256 gb usb, and every single time it installs and restarts the ps4 like brand new like everything is cool, then when trying to access any settings it force shuts down my system and states that my system storage cannot be accessed, plug in usb and reinstall complete software, which I've done now at least 7 full times. My hard drive clearly needs replaced all of a sudden directly after 7.51 update (My console is a 10 month old ps4 pro that I bought brand new which literally never had a single issue until after this update) and yes I've removed the hard drive, disconnected all cabling, waited several minutes and tried again. Contacted playstation support and somebody is supposed to contact me within 1-2 business days, no big deal, but I work as tech support full time from home and HAVE to be available the entire time. How the fuck does their playstation support team lack the staff to handle calls but our tech support team is open 24/7 for millions of customers with Frontier and Ziply fiber across the US.

@@OuchDasTuff yes with anything online but if it’s story mode stuff you’ll have to upload it to the cloud

Man you are a LEGEND. Last week my PS4 decided to not to start and gave my the cannot start PS4 error. Since that day I tried literally everything that you suggest but none of them fixed my problem. And I decided to change my hard drive even though that was a risky move for me because drives are way too expensive in my country. Today my cargo has arrived and got the drive that you suggested. I have a question. I have a Seagate 1TB external HDD that I used as my PS4's extended storage.
Now my PS4's internal HDD broke and I plan to replace it with the HDD I'll extract from my external HDD.
My question is before extraction do I need to first reformat the external HDD using a PC or laptop? Or I don't have to do that because the PS4 can reformat it?

To save my game files in the cloud. Will it require a USB or something?
Your saved games will be saved in the cloud for all games that support it. If you have older games that don't support it, then at that point you would need to back them up to a USB drive first before you proceed to perform this upgrade.

You need a new hard drive
I put my ps4 on and it says “cannot start ps4 connect dualshock " then it asks me to download the update with the usb. I then do this and after the installation is complete my ps4 turns off and goes straight back into that same screen. “Cannot start ps4 connect dualshock”
I then hold the psn button and go into safe mode whatever option I select it will load however go back into that same screen “cannot start ps4”

I’ve put a new 2TB hard drive in my PS4 and I’ve downloaded the latest system software file (7.51) onto a USB. I’ve tried reinstalling the system software numerous times but it keeps saying that the “update file is corrupt”. Does anyone have a fix for this?

The problem with mine is that my PS4 says cannot start PS4, but it also says drives under 160gb cannot be used. I have a 1tb drive installed. It tells me to turn it off and it gives me the ce-34336-9. Does anyone have a clue why my drive doesn't work
So i get as far as trying to reinstall the ps4 firmware and it keeps saying no usb storage device connected when its lit up bright (i also cant scroll up or down the safemode list with the arrow pad either)

Press thr first option to simply restart the ps4 if that doesn't work you'll have to restart without all the data

Okay I guess from the video prior to this one that brought me here, I need to do this cause I’m getting the message “Cannot start PS4 - Can’t connect DUALSHOCK 4.. etc” then it goes to “connect a USB storage device that contains an update file for reinstallation for version 7.50 or later..” do I need to buy a whole new new hard drive or just reinstall the software?
Try re-installing the software first, if that doesn't work then this fix is the last resort.
If I don't do the second step will I still have all my games and accounts? Is the usb step necessary? Please respond you're my only hope.

If you have PS Plus and had Automatic Uploads set, you can login to the PS4 with the new hard drive and restore your save games from the cloud using instructions in this video: czcams.com/video/GdQ0Oj3X-Us/video.html

Thank you! Well, if you have cloning software you can definitely give it a try as it won't hurt anything. Since everything is stored in the cloud now, its pretty easy to get everything back. So yeah I just re-downloaded the games. When I loaded Wildlands I noticed that it didn't have my saved games so I just downloaded them from the cloud and then I was back in business. You can also try backing up to an external drive before you put in the new drive and then restore that way.

You should be fine as long as you don't have any old games that still save data to the hard drive instead of the cloud. Only way to find out is to check each game individually.

Yes, you will have to download all your games back if you didn't back them up to an external USB drive to begin with. To me it wasn't a big deal as I have pretty fast Internet, but if you want to back up your games you could do it before you do this process using an external USB drive.

The Seagate Firecude is a hybrid drive, it is just slightly better than a regular drive. However if you want to see noticeable improvements in loading times etc you'll want to go with a full SSD drive like the one I mentioned. Good luck!

Well, it will work, but you are not going to see any improvement in game loading times at all. I mean if you are just replacing a hard drive that died on you on the PS4 it will do, but if you are looking for an upgrade this is not it.
