How To: Replace PS4 Pro HDD & Format! PS4 WON'T BOOT? NO SAFE MODE? This is your fix!

- Super common issue with PS4's is that the hard drive fails. Some people (albeit, very rarely) fix their issue simply by removing the HDD and reinserting it. Some also (rarely) fix it by booting into SAFE MODE, and reinstalling the PS4 operating system.
(Booting into safe mode: When the console is OFF, hold the power button for roughly 7-10 seconds. On the 2nd beep, release the button and it will be in safe mode. If nothing happens - you need to replace your HDD!)
In this consoles case, those didn't work. I couldn't even get it to boot into safe mode! Dead HDD!
Replacement 2TB drive on Amazon was about $73 (links below!) and took all of 5 minutes to swap out. At this point, we finally got it into safe mode. Now we need to install the PS4 operating system. You'll need either a USB thumb drive, or an external drive that uses USB 2.0 or above. I personally used my spare USB 3.0 2TB HDD.
Make sure the device is formatted to FAT32/MS-DOS. Create a folder "PS4" and in that folder, create another folder "UPDATE" and in the update folder is where you drag the update file you download.

i had this problem every time a new ps update came out. now after i reinitialize sometimes it will re read the memory and go to a black screen until it turns off, or it updates then goes to a black screen. either way it gets stuck before ps boot logo everytime. i replaced the old hdd with a SSD 1tb ps certified replacement drive today, the update file im using i downloaded 30 minutes ago, its calling for v8.5 i have everything correct, any guesses?

I have a wierd problem. Connected a new hard drive with more storage. Formatted it and it would show both but i had to select which one to use at a time, chose my new one and wanted to move all games i could from system to the new hard drive. It only moved 2 small ones and refused to move more with error message dispite tons of free space. Ps4 started freezing and eventually unplugged it. turning it back on kept freezing and kept restarting it and now it works again but wont recognize new hard drive. Will recognize old one and as long as the new hard drive isnt plugged in it runs fine. had to repair old hard drive but wont recognize new one still, plugged it into pc and that wont recogize it either. HELP!
Formates are different for one next it could because of the amount of power your drawing on use both hard drives at once just a guess is a odd situation

I changed mine to. In safe mode puts me direct to number 7! The others numbers, ar not available! And than has that error continually no matter what I make? ,,file cannot find’’ I’m really freaking out. I buy the drive for nothing!
Well that's because when u turn it on you only press it one time and release it that's why you're only allowed number 7 to be your option. To get all the 7 option when u turn it on, hold it until you hear the second bebeat., that will give you all 7 options

Yeah you literally said in your video at first you were unable to get into safe mode but then you don't even explain or show us how you got back into safe mode when you put in the hard drive
yes, he said that he was **unable* to get into safe mode before he change his hard drive. after he changed the hard drive, all your data and stuff is gone because those datas are in the old one. basically if u boot the ps4 with a new hard disk u cant do anything. to turn into safe mode, press the power button for like about 7-10 secs and it will make a sound "blip" 2 times, after that u get into safe mode. so in order for him to boot to the main boot, you need to update your ps4, just like he said that u have to use your computer to download the update and put the update thing in to your thumbdrive,handdrive or a hard drive. between those three u need to plug it on your ps4 and on your safe mode click reinitializing ps4. after that bla bla bla and click ok or stuff and after that it will reboot and update your ps4. then your ps4 will be brand new :). sadly, the problem is that u can't save your games and stuff cause its already gone :(
What if my PS4 after all that doesn’t turn on? Like whenever it does the restart mine doesn’t actually do it and it stays off.
